The WAG is having a real moment again. Wives and girlfriends of athletes are lighting up front rows, race weekends and stadium suites, their outfits saved and reshared within minutes, their whole world softly back in fashion for 2026. The women carrying the label now turn up everywhere from football pitches to the edges of a Formula 1 track, and the look that defined the mid 2000s feels warm and current all over again.
The nicest part is what happens once the glossy photos give way to the actual women. Each one has a story that is warmer and more surprising than the label ever let on, full of quiet grit, real kindness and the odd perfect moment that makes them easy to adore.

Where It All Began
The story starts, sweetly enough, in a quiet German spa town in the summer of 2006. England had arrived for the World Cup, and the players’ wives and girlfriends came along, checking into the same hotels and turning the sleepy streets into a runway. Cameras followed them from boutique to boutique, capturing the sunglasses and the shopping bags and the shine of it all, and a new word slipped into the language almost overnight.
Victoria Beckham sat right at the heart of it, the most watched of them all, and in many ways she has been quietly rewriting what that word can mean ever since. What began as a bit of tabloid shorthand has grown, over the years, into something these women have made entirely their own.

Victoria Beckham
Everyone remembers Posh Spice, and everyone knows she became a fashion designer, so the loveliest part of her story is the bit in the middle that often gets skipped. She has been married to the footballer David Beckham since 1999, which makes her the original WAG in the truest sense. Her label, Victoria Beckham, went through a really frightening stretch in the late 2010s, sliding deep into the red and coming close to closing, and she stayed with it through every hard conversation until it found its feet again.
For years people assumed there had to be a man steering the whole thing, because the idea of a pop star building a serious fashion house felt too unlikely to them. She answered by simply making beautiful clothes, season after season, until the doubt quietly faded. In her 2025 documentary she says, with a lot of warmth and a little laugh, that she was never the strongest singer or dancer in the group. She was just the one who refused to stop working.

Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton, the seven time Formula 1 world champion, have been the sweet surprise of the year, and the backstory makes it even sweeter. The two met more than ten years ago and were friends for the longest time before anything romantic began, crossing paths at parties while their lives went in other directions. She has always been careful, almost fiercely so, about who gets close to her four children, so the fact that Hamilton has spent real time with them says a great deal about how she feels.
What is easy to miss underneath all the fame is how hard she has worked at something far from the spotlight. She spent six years studying law through an apprenticeship, pouring that time into criminal justice reform because it matters to her. She helped win freedom for Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother who had been serving a life sentence for a nonviolent offense, and quietly helped others along the way.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift turned The Eras Tour into the biggest tour there has ever been, and she reached billionaire status on the strength of her own music rather than anything handed to her. When a company bought the rights to her early albums out from under her, she did something quietly radical, recording all of that music again herself and then buying back every original master, so that after twenty years she finally owns her entire life’s work. Along the way she became the first artist ever to win Album of the Year four times.
She is engaged to Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star, and when she turns up in the stands she does it as one of the most famous people alive, not as anyone’s plus one. What is just as lovely is how she treats the people around her. While that same tour was breaking records around the world, she shared the winnings with the whole road crew, handing out bonuses so generous that some of them could finally put money down on a home, and in city after city she quietly gave to local food banks, sometimes so softly that the charities rang back to check the gift was real.

Alexandra Leclerc
Alexandra Leclerc has become one of the most beloved figures in Formula 1, and she won people over long before her wedding to the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc in Monaco this February. Away from the cameras she is an art historian, a graduate of the École du Louvre who worked in auction houses and built a quiet career of her own. She also runs a foundation supporting children’s education and the arts in Mexico, a cause close to her heritage.
The moment that made everyone fall for her came at the Miami Grand Prix, after someone left a cruel comment saying she was nothing without her husband. “Actually without my husband I’m a normal girl, with my normal hobbies, my normal interests, my normal passions, who tries to be as kind as she can. That’s also what I am as his wife. And there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s probably what you are too, and that’s great! We’re not all meant to be singers, doctors, actresses or athletes, and that doesn’t take away from someone’s value,” answered Alex.

Georgina Rodríguez
Before the private jets and the front row at the shows, Georgina Rodríguez was working retail and dreaming of more. She grew up in a small Spanish town and once longed to be a ballet dancer, though the lessons were more than her family could afford. So she made her own way instead, waitressing, working shop floors, even spending a season as an au pair in England so she could learn the language.
She was folding clothes at a Gucci counter in Madrid the day the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo walked in. The two have been together ever since, and are now engaged. Everything that came after, the Netflix series, the brand, the whole beautiful life, she built on top of those early years, and she speaks about them with real tenderness rather than any wish to hide them.

Brittany Mahomes
Brittany Mahomes is often introduced simply as the wife of Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, which is a shame, because her own story is such a good one. She was a professional footballer first, playing a season in Iceland before turning her energy toward business. Today she is a founding owner of the Kansas City Current, a club she helped grow from a brand new team into one of the brightest names in American women’s soccer, with the first stadium in the world built just for a women’s team. She also funds a free youth soccer league for children in a part of the city that needed it. So when she settles into her seat on match day, she is watching something she helped build from the ground up.

Ciara
Ciara had a Grammy and a run of beloved hits long before she ever sat in a stadium box. Coming out of a painful chapter as a young mother, she took the time to look inward and get honest about the kind of love she truly hoped for, doing the quiet work on herself first. Russell Wilson, as the story goes, had been dreaming up his own hopes around the very same time, and the two found each other soon after. They married in 2016, and Wilson, one of the NFL’s most recognizable quarterbacks, has been beside her ever since. These days they run a foundation together that has given millions to good causes, including a children’s hospital. It is a gentle reminder that the best things often arrive once a person already feels whole on their own.

Perrie Edwards
Perrie Edwards spent the 2010s as one of the voices of Little Mix, filling arenas all over the world, and the thing people love most about her is how openly she shares the harder parts of her life. She is engaged to the footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the two are raising a young son together. She has performed through waves of anxiety, and instead of keeping it hidden she chose to talk about it, so that anyone feeling the same way would know they were not alone. She has a lovely, grounded way of separating fame from success, treating the noise as a cost and the music as the real reward. A solo career and a beauty line have followed, all of it carried by someone who kept showing up, especially on the days that asked the most of her.
