Pricella and Jacob’s story began in 2014 as both college students. Pricella, a first-generation Taiwanese American, has a passion for interior design, while Jacob, a fourth-generation Japanese American, works as a GIS analyst. Despite their different backgrounds, they found that they perfectly complement each other. Seven years into their relationship, Jacob proposed to Pricella in Aspen, Colorado, which had held special significance for them since their first visit. He chose this picturesque location, with its Christmas lights twinkling in the snowy setting, as the perfect backdrop to ask Pricella to marry him, making it a moment they would treasure forever.

For Pricella and Jacob, the heart of their wedding planning was to create a memorable gathering for their loved ones, many of whom hadn’t seen each other since before the pandemic. Their primary goal was to ensure that every guest felt cherished and understood their importance to the couple.

Pricella, with her background in interior design, paid meticulous attention to the materials, textures, and surfaces that would be part of their day, wanting to reflect the couple’s unique personalities and shared life. Jacob’s interest in architecture influenced their desire to meld their tastes into the wedding’s design. Central to their vision was honoring their Asian heritage, which they beautifully incorporated into the celebration. This focus on aesthetics and cultural significance came to fruition during their Lunar New Year wedding weekend, resulting in a tasteful and aesthetically pleasing event that truly represented them as a couple.

Every aspect of the wedding was thoughtfully curated to highlight the couple’s uniqueness and creativity. The wedding stationery, adorned in pastel beige and grey tones with delicate typography, reflected their sophisticated taste and elegance. The bride’s bouquet was a testament to her unique style, featuring orchids, sweet pea flowers, and branches of castor beans. This combination of elements not only underscored the couple’s individuality but also added a personal touch that made the wedding theirs.

Pricella spent her wedding morning surrounded by close friends and family, who helped her prepare for the big day. She chose a glamorous, Hollywood-inspired look, opting for a voluminous hairstyle and soft, subtle makeup that enhanced her natural beauty. Her wedding dress was extraordinary and unique, accentuating her silhouette. Pricella admitted she had never seen a dress like it; it was delicate yet stylish, adorned with gentle embroidery on the sides and a long, lace-embellished train. Her second dress for the event echoed traditional bridal attire, featuring a rich red color with elaborate embroidery, paying homage to her cultural heritage.

“Regarding dress shopping, I must have tried on my dress three different times before we finally purchased it. You don’t always have the emotional, tearful moment, but I believe you know when you keep returning to that one dress. I adore the tradition of going dress shopping with your bridal party, yet having that unique experience with my mom was incredibly precious. It was a sweet and memorable moment that just the two of us shared, which she still mentions today.” recalls Pricella.

The moment Pricella’s bridesmaids first saw her in her wedding dress was filled with excitement and emotion. They were thrilled and amazed by their friend’s beauty, capturing a heartfelt and memorable scene on her special day.

Meanwhile, Jacob was also getting ready for the wedding, assisted by a close friend who helped him into his suit and offered support throughout the morning. Being a fan of James Bond movies, Jacob chose a Tom Ford suit that fit him perfectly, encapsulating style and elegance. This choice reflected his taste and the cinematic influence, adding a touch of sophistication to his wedding day look.

The first look between the bride and groom was a profoundly touching moment. They met at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, known for its stunning and futuristic architecture. When Jacob turned around to see Pricella for the first time in her wedding dress, it was as if time stood still. He was utterly captivated by her beauty, and in that moment, their happiness was palpable, marking a memorable and emotional highlight of their special day.

Amy Huang, the photographer for Jacob and Pricella’s wedding, captured stunning portraits against the backdrop of the magnificent building and beyond. Each photo conveyed the refined beauty of the bride and groom, as well as the love and romantic atmosphere that permeated the day. Following this photo shoot, the couple took memorable photographs with their friends, creating lasting mementos of their special day that encapsulate the joy and elegance of the occasion.

The venue for the wedding ceremony was uniquely decorated, mirroring the overall uniqueness of the wedding. Chairs were arranged in a circle around the spot where the couple would stand, with a stunning floral arrangement at the center that captivated everyone with its elegance and uniqueness. Using textures like stone and glass, combined with greenery and exotic flowers, created a distinctive and sophisticated atmosphere, perfectly setting the stage for the heartfelt exchange of vows.

The ceremony unfolded in an atmosphere filled with love and warmth. The bride, accompanied by her father, walked down the aisle, leading to a beautiful and touching moment as the couple exchanged vows of love and commitment, becoming husband and wife. This unforgettable moment touched every guest deeply.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a cocktail hour, during which the couple prepared a special surprise. This allowed everyone to enjoy the couple’s favorite cocktails, adding a personalized touch to the celebration and allowing guests to partake in the joy and festivity of the occasion.

The reception venue was incredibly stylish, with round and rectangular tables covered in white tablecloths. The tables were adorned with remarkable floral compositions featuring sweet peas, Renanthera orchids native to Asia, and lychee fruits, added at the bride’s request. These elements beautified the space and highlighted the couple’s Asian heritage, integrating it into the celebration in a meaningful and elegant way. This thoughtful decoration contributed to the overall aesthetic and thematic coherence of the wedding, celebrating the cultural background of Priscilla and Jacob in every detail.

The reception began with the newlyweds’ dance, a beautiful and moving performance that left no one indifferent. Their harmonious and graceful movements in the center of the dance floor created a magical atmosphere.

The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches and toasts from close friends and family, creating special warm memories for the couple.

After the speeches, the bride changed into a stunning traditional red dress, looking incredibly beautiful.

As the evening progressed, two more touching dances took place: Pricella dancing with her father and Jacob dancing with his mother, further highlighting the familial bonds and love.

The rest of the evening was brimming with joy, dance, and conversation, unfolding exactly as the couple had envisioned in an atmosphere of familial warmth and love. The celebration was a true reflection of their journey together, filled with moments that encapsulated the essence of their relationship and the joy of their special day.

Advice from couple:

Do a courthouse wedding with just you two first! Knowing that you are already married to your partner helps you decide what truly matters at your wedding at the end of the day. It also helps you not stress that the actual wedding day has to go perfectly. We were able to head into our wedding week pretty stress-free and be present with our family and loved ones leading up to our wedding day.

Question every wedding tradition. Ask yourself why we need a cake if we don’t even like to eat cake, or what is the purpose of doing the single ladies bouquet toss? I feel like so often we follow the wedding standards but never question their meaning for you and your partner. Your wedding day truly flies by, so do not feel like you need to cram your timeline with all sorts of wedding traditions.

Show up to cocktail hour! It was so fun to be able to hang out and enjoy the party (that we worked hard to put together) with our wedding guests. We also got told by our friends and family that it seemed like we were very present at our wedding, which was important to us.
