Madeline and Brock’s Dallas wedding unfolded like a quiet time-loop love story, the kind that somehow circles back exactly where it’s meant to. Photographer Kayleen Shearer captured the day as a Civic-Core City Wedding, beginning with a church ceremony and moving into a downtown celebration layered with spring colors, light and airy florals, and a simple vision centered around family.
Location: Dallas, Texas, USA
Style: Classic, Civic, Chic
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 160
Setting: Church and Ballroom
Season: Spring
The two first met when they were about six years old at a gathering their parents attended together. Brock grew up in Austin while Madeline lived in Dallas, and after that early introduction, their lives moved in different directions for years. The story quietly picked back up when both chose to attend Texas Tech, where they reconnected during their freshman year and began dating the following semester, a relationship that would grow steadily over the next seven years.
By the time Brock started planning the proposal, the couple had already gone ring shopping together, so Madeline knew the moment was somewhere on the horizon, though she still hoped for a surprise. In March 2024, Brock told her they were heading to a family member’s party, complete with a fake invitation to keep the plan believable. Instead, he brought her to the gazebo at Flippen Park in Dallas, where he stopped mid-walk and got down on one knee while his mom quietly photographed the moment nearby.
Bride's Morning & Fashion
Madeline kept her bridal styling intentionally simple, letting a few thoughtful details do the work. Her accessories were minimal, just a pair of delicate drop earrings and a silver bracelet Brock gifted her on the morning of the wedding. The real fashion moment came from her shoes: powder-blue Mach & Mach slingbacks with oversized bows, a playful, Sex and the City-coded detail that became the bride’s version of “something blue.”
Her glam followed the same philosophy, polished yet effortless, with a hair and makeup team that brought her vision to life and left her feeling completely confident throughout the day.
For the ceremony, th birde chose an A-line gown by Essense of Australia from Patsy’s Bridal in Dallas, finding the dress during a single shopping trip with her mom, aunt, and sister. It was one of the final gowns she tried on, and she immediately knew it was the one. The silhouette kept the look classic and clean, while the combination of the long veil and structured neckline created a strong, graphic line that translated beautifully in the portraits.
Groom’s Fashion
Brock and his groomsmen leaned into a classic black-tie look, choosing tuxedos from The Black Tux. Since several members of the wedding party were traveling from different cities and states, the brand’s nationwide fittings made the process seamless for everyone involved. Madeline added a personal detail to Brock’s look with a pair of custom gold cufflinks engraved with their initials.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Zion Lutheran Church on Lover’s Lane, the church Madeline and Brock attend together, which made the setting feel especially meaningful from the start. “We walked through the vows together beforehand, and it made everything feel more meaningful to us,” Madeline shares. Stained-glass windows filled the sanctuary with jewel-toned light, creating a natural color story that felt richer than any added decor.
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony came when Madeline entered the aisle with her sister. Because both of her parents have passed away, the moment became something deeper than tradition, a quiet sisterhood ritual marking a new chapter together. “We’ve faced so many difficult moments,” Madeline explains. “Sharing that moment together was incredibly meaningful and healing.”
The couple also chose to skip a first look, saving their first glimpse of each other for the ceremony itself. “We had built up so much anticipation about seeing each other all day,” the bride recalls. “That moment when I finally saw Brock at the altar is something I can replay in my mind forever.” Minutes later, the newlyweds stepped out of the church together as husband and wife, laughing and smiling as guests cheered around them. “We felt completely on top of the world,” Madeline says, already excited for the celebration waiting ahead.
Moments Together
Right after the ceremony, Madeline and Brock stepped out into downtown Dallas with their photographer Kayleen, turning the city into the backdrop for some of the day’s most relaxed moments. The streets around the church, framed by clean civic architecture and wide sidewalks, gave their portraits a subtle сity wedding. Kayleen guided the couple through the city as they walked, laughed, and took in the moment of finally being married.
Madeline first discovered Kayleen on Instagram and immediately connected with her visual style. Kayleen had also photographed their engagement session, which later became their save-the-date photos. “I found Kayleen on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her style,” Madeline says. “It was so hard to choose just one photo for our save the dates.”
Reception
From there, the couple headed to their reception at The Room on Main, where Madeline’s longtime vision for the day came fully to life. Pink, green, and white florals filled the space in a palette she had always loved for its timeless elegance, and their family’s trusted florist The T Shop brought the arrangements together beautifully, creating lush installations that complemented the venue’s classic architecture and sweeping city views.
Music quickly became the heartbeat of the night. Madeline and Brock shared their first dance to What A Difference A Day Made, a song they felt captured the exact feeling of the day, before the band filled the room with energy that kept the dance floor alive well into the night.
The rest of the evening unfolded effortlessly thanks to a combination of thoughtful planning, recommendations from friends, and the guidance of their month-of coordinator Marissa, who kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Once guests were seated, the reception began with heartfelt moments: Madeline’s uncle opened the evening with a toast that had everyone laughing and tearing up at the same time, followed by a blessing from her aunt before dinner and speeches from her sister and brother-in-law.
Sweet details continued throughout the reception, including a four-tier white cake by Dallas Affaires Cake Company, finished with fresh strawberries and a champagne icing filling that guests loved just as much as its clean, classic design.
Later in the evening, Madeline changed into a second look, a playful mini dress that subtly shifted the tone from formal reception to full celebration mode. It felt like a quiet signal that while the ceremony had been timeless and meaningful, the rest of the night belonged to dancing, laughter, and the kind of joyful party the couple had hoped to share with everyone they loved.
Advice from the couple:
• First, live in the moment! Everything is going to be beautiful and you’re going to have an amazing day. Don’t stress yourself out over small details or mishaps, they won’t matter in the grand scheme. Remember that everyone at your wedding loves you and wants to see you happy, so allow yourself to relax and truly enjoy it!
• Second, don’t leave each other’s side after the ceremony. Experiencing every part of the reception together allows you to share the same memories and take it all in as a couple. We found that staying together helped slow the night down and truly allowed us to live in the moment.
