A Small, Beachside Key West Wedding Planned in Just 100 Days

Lauren and Austin met through mutual friends one night out with a group. Lauren happened to be talking about another guy she’d recently met, and Austin, overhearing, told her he could impress her more than the other guy ever could. He said to give him two weeks, and he’d reach out. Two weeks came and went, and Lauren, unable to wait any longer, reached out to him first. The two have been inseparable ever since. Ask Austin, though, and he’ll insist they actually met a year or two earlier, in the same apartment complex where they crossed paths that night. Lauren doesn’t remember it happening at all.

Two years later, Austin proposed at Gideon Owen Winery during a weekend trip with Lauren’s family. Lauren had her suspicions the whole way there, Austin stayed unusually quiet in the car, quiet enough that she kept asking if he felt okay, but by the time they reached the winery, she’d talked herself out of it. Once inside, Lauren’s family sent them outside for a drink while the table finished setting up, and after some convincing, Austin got her to walk the property with him. Turning a corner, a romantic setup came into view in the middle of the vineyard, and Lauren knew immediately what was happening. Austin could barely get the words out, he was that nervous. Moments later, Lauren’s dog came running around the corner as one final surprise, with her two best friends and both families waiting to celebrate.

A year later, they welcomed their daughter. Starting a family had always been the priority, even with marriage on the horizon. Once they’d soaked up those first few months together, Lauren and Austin finally turned their attention to planning the wedding, working with Vicky Furman Events to bring it all together.

Planning & Location

Key West had been part of the story from the beginning. Lauren and Austin took their first trip there together back in 2023, and Austin, initially confused about why she’d chosen it, changed his mind that same night, telling her he was never leaving. He fell hard enough for the Keys that the two returned for their babymoon in April 2025. So when it came time to plan the wedding, there was never really a question of where. They wanted their closest family and friends to see the place they’d fallen in love with, and they wanted the day itself to stay small and intimate. It turned out to be exactly that. “We couldn’t have had a more perfect day celebrating our love,” they say.

Since Lauren and Austin had already welcomed their daughter before turning to wedding planning, Lauren knew doing it all herself simply wasn’t realistic. She found Vicky Furman Events, and the process came together with far less stress than she’d expected. Without her, Lauren says, planning a wedding in just one hundred days would have been impossible. Vicky’s vendor recommendations ended up being exactly what brought Lauren and Austin’s vision to life.

Getting Ready & Fashion

By the time the day finally arrived, Lauren was ready for it. She’d been looking forward to seeing her soon-to-be husband all morning, knowing any nerves she had would disappear the second she saw him.

For her look, Lauren wore a Waters dress with a Gorjana necklace and bracelet, hair and makeup done by Bella Luxe, and Yves Saint Laurent‘s Libre for perfume. Her bouquet, designed by Duarte Floral Design, carried the same soft, understated feel as the rest of her look.

Getting ready that morning, Austin felt anxious in the best possible way. He knew the day would move fast, and he wanted to slow it down as much as he could, staying present for every second of it.

For his look, he chose Frye loafers, a boutonnière from Duarte Floral Design, an 80s Cartier Must de Cartier watch, and a Heavyweight NYC figaro bracelet, all worked into a traditional black tux he wanted with a modern edge.

First Look & Private Vows

For Lauren, the favorite moment of the day was reading private vows to each other before the ceremony. It made time slow down, calm and quiet enough that it felt like the two of them were the only people who existed. Austin’s most memorable moment came earlier, during the first look, the anticipation of finally seeing Lauren in her dress leaving him overcome with love the second she came into view.

The Newlyweds

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the beach, elevated by hanging flowers, pillars, and draped linens that gave the whole setting a quiet grandeur. Lauren’s mother walked her down the aisle, a moment that meant more to both of them than anything else that day. Austin’s uncle Adam officiated, making the ceremony feel deeply personal, filled with both laughter and tears. At the last minute, Lauren and Austin decided to read their vows aloud during the ceremony too, and that small change made everything feel even more real. “I expected to feel overwhelmed during the ceremony,” Lauren says, “but instead felt like it was just the two of us standing up there, in the best way.”

Neither of them likes being the center of attention, an unavoidable position on your own wedding day, and yet somehow the ceremony still made them feel like they were the only two people there. “I felt relieved after, that everything went perfect,” Lauren says. From there, they were ready to spend the rest of the night with the people they love.

Reception

Lauren has always loved neutrals and timeless color palettes, so when she started researching wedding trends, greens and burgundies caught her immediately. It felt like color without too much color, pops of tone rather than a full palette shift. She was especially drawn to the idea of weaving vintage silver into the design, adding texture and a sense of history throughout the space.

Their first dance was to “Before You” by Benson Boone, with their daughter Scottie joining them halfway through the song. The cake carried the same vintage aesthetic through the whole day, a two-tiered design finished with a topper from the 1960s. Speeches came from Lauren’s maid of honor and her mother, followed by a thank-you toast from Lauren and Austin to close out the night.

The Newlyweds

The reception took place in the ballroom, with signature cocktails split between a Moscow Mule for her and an Old Fashioned for him. Lauren and Austin wanted the evening to feel intimate and romantic, and during dinner, a carefully curated playlist carried guests back in time, moody, elegant, and unmistakably sophisticated. When it came time to dance, they wanted their guests on the floor for the entire night, and the DJ delivered exactly that, energetic from start to finish.
