For this article, Wedvibes teamed up with Italian floral studio FedeFloralDesign, a young and thoughtful team that shared how they approach weddings through the lens of location, climate, and culture, and why these elements matter more than any trend.

Letting the Location Lead the Design
Every wedding venue already carries its own personality. Architecture, light, materials, and proportions quietly set the tone long before flowers enter the picture. At FedeFloralDesign, the process always begins with observation.
“When I design for a wedding venue, I start by observing the architecture, the light, and the materials,” says founder Federico Rabatti. “A space always tells a story — our job is to listen.”

This mindset shapes how the team works across very different locations, from historic Italian villas to contemporary resorts. Strong architectural settings naturally guide the scale and rhythm of floral compositions. Clean, modern spaces invite more structured arrangements, while historic venues often call for softer lines and a sense of balance. The goal is never to overpower the setting, but to support it visually.
By treating the venue as a collaborator instead of a backdrop, floral design becomes part of the space rather than something layered on top of it. This approach creates cohesion and allows guests to experience the environment as a whole, not as a collection of separate elements.

Indoor vs Outdoor Spaces
Designing florals indoors versus outdoors requires two very different mindsets. “Indoors, flowers become part of the architecture. They need to respect proportions, textures, and balance. Outdoors, nature is already doing much of the work, so we focus on creating compositions that blend into the landscape,” Federico explains.
This sensitivity helps prevent outdoor designs from feeling overly staged, while indoor arrangements maintain a sense of ease instead of visual heaviness.

Designing for Climate
Climate influences more than flower availability. It affects color palettes, textures, and the overall mood of a celebration. For FedeFloralDesign, working with climate is not a limitation but a practical and creative guide.
In warm destinations, the team leans toward lighter compositions that respond naturally to heat and light. Airier designs and softer color transitions allow the florals to sit comfortably within the environment. In cooler regions or seasons, richer textures and deeper tones add warmth and visual depth, balancing the atmosphere. This thoughtful response to climate helps designs stay grounded and realistic. Flowers last longer, look fresher, and align naturally with their surroundings, which enhances the guest experience as much as the visual result.

Seasonality often gets framed as a constraint, but FedeFloralDesign approaches it as an opportunity. Each season brings its own character, color stories, and natural rhythm. “Working with the season is not a restriction,” Federico notes. “Every flower has its moment, and embracing that moment brings authenticity to the design.”
Using seasonal and locally sourced blooms strengthens the connection between the wedding and its location. Guests may not consciously identify specific flowers, but they sense when a design feels appropriate and natural for its time and place.

Cultural references can add depth to floral design when handled with restraint. For international weddings in Italy, FedeFloralDesign often weaves in gentle nods to the couple’s background without overwhelming the setting.
“I like incorporating subtle elements that reflect the couple’s background, such as a symbolic flower or a certain compositional style, while keeping everything harmonious with the Italian context,” says founder Federico.
