Bridal and Groomswear Inspiration from New York Fashion Week Spring 2027

Modern brides are increasingly choosing three, even four different looks for their wedding weekend. Fashion-forward couples pour real love and a discerning eye into building those looks, turning to vintage boutiques, couture tailoring, and ready-to-wear alongside dedicated bridal designers. For brides and grooms who keep a close eye on fashion trends, we’re looking at September’s Spring/Summer 2027 fashion week shows, starting with what just walked in New York.

On the menswear side, sheer shirts stood out, versatile enough to layer under a jacket or wear on their own for something like a reception. Grooms usually gravitate toward black, though brands like Zaldy and Campillo offered printed versions worth considering. Christian Siriano‘s men’s looks leaned into sharp, theatrical tailoring: laced trousers, dramatic lapel jackets worn shirtless, reptile-print vests, and cropped, formfitting cuts that pushed well past a standard suit. Brighter, more unexpected designs showed up elsewhere too, including floral motifs.

Luar caught our eye with an especially pleasing color pairing: cream jackets against gray ribbon ties and vice versa. Advisry played with embellishment instead, a cream jacket scattered with pearls, a black tie studded with black crystals. And the tonal palette across suits, shirts, and trousers on the Cult Gaia runway was genuinely beautiful, exactly the kind of resort-ready range that suits a destination wedding.

That same beauty carried straight over into Cult Gaia‘s womenswear, part of a collection titled Behesht, the Persian word for heaven. Sharp, structured shapes sit right alongside soft, fluid ones throughout. The fluid, sheer draping and warm gold accessories of two selected looks speak to the collection’s lighter, more romantic register. At the same time, the structured straw hat and frayed, architectural ruffle collar of a third pulls firmly back toward the hard, sculptural side of the story.

Wiederhoeft zeroed in on his two biggest categories for spring: striking eveningwear and head-turning bridal. The brand’s instantly recognizable corsetry, naturally, played a major role in the collection.

Fans of deconstruction will appreciate Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen‘s “Yard Sale Liberation,” built from upcycled and secondhand materials, with underwear cut from picnic blankets, quilted corsets, and wire mesh butterfly shapes.

Popular Polish designer Magda Butrym staged her first New York runway show, timed to the opening of her first NYC flagship, showcasing sheer silk aprons, lingerie details, and wallpaper florals inspired by her grandmothers, played against her usual structured glamour. Ulla Johnson‘s show, held at Gotham Park, practically carried the smell of spring in the air: butter yellow, dusty rose, lavender, and faded rust colored a collection of fringe, sheer lingerie styles, and ruffled florals.

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia’s first Monse-only show since leaving Oscar de la Renta, staged atop the Domino Sugar Refinery in Williamsburg, centered on the tulip, with tattered edges and “undone” details across striped knits, sequin gowns, and sheer organza pieces. And two bridal-alike looks from Christian Cowan won us over.

As always, we didn’t stop at white, and rounded out the edit with blue pieces from Nardos, Collina Strada, and Cult Gaia (plus a white ruffled dress with a blue ribbon from Sandy Liang), pink tones from Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, and Wiederhoeft, a black corseted set from Thom Browne, and more.
