The Goth Bride Is on the Rise, and Here’s Inspiration for a Dark Romance Bridal Look

The goth bride is back. When Gabbriette married Matty Healy in Los Angeles this summer, she skipped polished perfection for a bespoke Matières Fécales gown with a corseted back and a deliberately tattered train, finished with an engagement ring set with a black diamond. Around the same time, Dilara Findikoglu launched her first bridal collection with a campaign worthy of Miss Havisham, as a veiled bride in corsetry smashed plates and cake in a decaying room.

New York label HONOR is leaning in too. Its latest collection explores the beauty of fragility through a Gothic lens, drawing on Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Bride of Frankenstein alongside the eerie illustrations of Edward Gorey. Delicate lace and sheer crystal tulle sit alongside sculptural headpieces, proving darker references can still feel romantic.

The appeal is easy to understand: a gothic bridal look trades the expected for something more mysterious, whether that means a corset instead of a strapless bodice or a veil worn low over the face. It can be as subtle as a lace cape over a classic gown or as bold as an all-black dress. Scroll on for gothic bridal inspiration for the bride who finds romance in the shadows.
