Wedding cake design in Europe is experiencing a particularly exciting creative moment right now, with artists treating cakes as a form of design, emotion, and visual storytelling rather than just dessert. Studios are developing distinct styles, from sculptural minimalism and fine-art textures to romantic, fashion-inspired compositions. They work closely with couples to shape cakes that reflect the mood and aesthetic of the wedding celebration. Alongside classic pastry studios, a growing number of creators also focus on vegan cakes, expanding both the visual language and ingredient choices of modern cake design. This curated selection brings together 16 European cake artists shaping the scene today.

Bakverhalen translates to “baking stories,” a name that perfectly captures founder Angelique’s philosophy. As both a pastry chef and a cake artist, she creates bespoke wedding cakes that balance modern design with a romantic sensibility. As a private pastry chef, she develops custom recipes for memorable flavor, while as a cake artist, she crafts luxury designs that harmonize with the wedding’s visual narrative. Each piece feels personal, thoughtful, and made to be remembered.

Founded by Italian cake artist Natascia Bachini, Sweetie Pie is a studio where nostalgia meets contemporary dessert design. Influenced by childhood moments spent baking with her grandmother, Natascia works exclusively with natural ingredients and maintains a strong link to tradition. Every cake is tailored to the client and treated as a sensorial experience, crafted to intrigue, delight, and feel uniquely personal. She aims to create desserts that spark wonder and emotion, culminating in what she describes as the moment “when expectations meet taste.” For Natascia, cake-making is the art of shaping dreams in edible form.

Elisabeth & Valentijn is an Amsterdam-based cake studio known for refined, artful desserts and modern floral cakes. Founded by Elisa in 2015 as a tiny bakery run from her own kitchen, the studio grew from a simple philosophy: there is always a good reason to have something sweet in the fridge, and sometimes the sweet itself is the reason to celebrate. Her signature style pairs understated decoration with delicate floral elements and thoughtful composition. Today, the studio creates custom cakes, pastries, cookies, and wedding desserts, each designed to feel personal, elegant, and quietly distinctive.

Andrea Sham is a Paris-based pastry artist whose work moves between fine art and modern fairytale. Self-taught and highly intuitive in her approach, she creates organic, unconventional pastries, cakes, and desserts defined by asymmetry, texture, and sculptural form. Drawing inspiration from nature and fashion, her bespoke cakes for weddings, luxury brands, and special events feel expressive and art-driven. Her aesthetic is poetic and intentionally imperfect, often built around movement and contrast. Each creation is designed as a sensory composition where flavor, color, and structure meet, resulting in desserts that feel emotional and visually unforgettable.

Hana is a Berlin-based vegan cake baker creating highly artistic, plant-based cakes with a distinctive “fantasy film” aesthetic. Her designs are rich, imaginative, and non-traditional, turning each cake into a visual statement as much as a dessert. Working with plant-based butter and carefully developed recipes, she achieves the texture and flavor of a classic fluffy sponge while keeping everything fully vegan. No two pieces are alike — every cake is treated as a unique, expressive work made to stand out.
