That’s Amore: A Romantic and Vibrant Italian-inspired Wedding in Australia

Location: Perth, Australia
Setting: University of Western Australia
Wedding season: Spring
The number of guests: 165
How long did the couple plan the event: 15 months
Wedding theme/style: Mediterranean fun but still romantic.

Jessica and Sean have known each other for 15 years, but it wasn’t until they met at a festival that they reconnected and sparked a new chapter in their relationship. Both describe themselves as social butterflies and delight in frequenting restaurants and savoring the pleasures of drinking. Jessica is the proud owner of a hair salon in Perth, while Sean is immersed in marketing. Their jobs align with their love of socializing, and they both enjoy networking.

The couple’s wedding was inspired by a blend of Mediterranean fun and romance, with the theme drawing from Jessica’s Italian heritage to transport guests to the enchanting gardens and quaint streets of Italy.

When Jessica and Sean searched for a videographer, they chose the talented Natalie from The Auburn Hour Films, knowing she could perfectly capture their wedding. The videographer captured every detail—the lively wedding morning with Jessica and her lovely bridesmaids, the emotional first look as Jessica showcased her beautiful bridal dress, the heartwarming vows during the ceremony, and the joyful Italian-inspired reception filled with dancing. The Auburn Hour Films did an outstanding job producing a film that the couple will cherish forever.

Jessica began her wedding day with the talented Circles of Hair team, who beautifully styled her hair. Her bridesmaids kept her company, setting an uplifting and joyful mood for the wedding day.

Jessica tried on about ten different wedding dresses before ultimately choosing the J.Andreatta Cafe De Flore gown, one of the very first dresses she tried on. This particular gown was a rare piece, as the designer had only created it for eight brides before Jess, and it took ten months to craft due to its delicate nature.

Jessica looked stunning in her wedding dress, which complemented her beautifully. She also selected a veil and a vibrant wedding bouquet that perfectly matched the wedding theme.

As Jessica gracefully walked down the aisle, Sean was captivated by her stunning wedding appearance. The ceremony space was embellished with vibrant flowers by Natural Flowers Art, creating a perfect ambiance for the couple’s special day. As they exchanged their vows, their loved ones stood by their side, cheering and sharing in the joy of the newlyweds.

On this special day, the lovebirds were surrounded by their closest friends. The bridesmaids had matching flowers that coordinated with Jessica, while the groomsmen donned matching suits that complemented Sean’s attire.

As the newlyweds wandered through the enchanting gardens, they were accompanied by the talented photographer Sarah Tonkin. Sarah’s expertise behind the lens immortalized every moment, radiating with pure love. These treasured memories will undoubtedly be cherished by the couple for years to come, serving as a constant reminder of their love story.

This Italian-inspired wedding took place at the University of Western Australia. Led by the creative wedding planner Bertie Does, the reception space came alive with vibrant colors and stunning floral arrangements, capturing the essence of the bride’s Italian roots. Personalized postcards written in Italian for guests made them feel intimately connected to the couple’s love story. Thematic drinks were expertly crafted to whisk everyone further away to Italy, ensuring a truly immersive experience. This unforgettable celebration beautifully showcased the power of personalization and storytelling, leaving lasting memories for the newlyweds and their cherished guests.

While the guests savored the cocktail hour, Jessica and Sean gracefully made their way to the magnificent reception, creating enchanting moments with each step, beautifully captured in photos along the way.

The reception commenced with a warm and joyous welcome for the newlyweds. Jessica and Sean were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and heartfelt wishes from their cherished guests. They were filled with boundless happiness as they shared their special day with everyone.

The couple’s first dance was to the song “That’s Amore!” and they shared a special dance taught by their nonna, Italian grandmother, which held immense significance for them. Following their dance, the celebration transformed as everyone joined in and immersed themselves in the joy of dancing.

In addition to the unique pops of color in the florals and graphics, the mid-wedding surprise hair chop was a truly standout and memorable moment that also effectively tied in with the Circles of Hair brand Jessica owns. She also changed into a unique mini dress, specially made by Christie Nicole, for the post-wedding party. The surprising changes left everyone, including Sean, in awe, as he was mesmerized by his wife’s stunning appearance.

Jessica and Sean’s wedding day was perfect, crafting enduring memories for the couple and their cherished loved ones.

Advice from the couple:

Something I wish people had told us more was to enjoy the planning and creative process. Everyone is always so stressed about the budget, guest list, etc., but our absolute favorite part was the lead-up moments. Complete transparency and communication with your partner are the absolute key to making the process stress-free!
