Emily and Rob’s fall wedding in New York brought together black-tie elegance, modern design, and meaningful Jewish traditions. Set against an industrial-chic backdrop in Irvington, the day featured a glowing chuppah at sunset, a lively hora, and candlelit tables that filled the space with warmth. From the first look to the late-night Shake Shack surprise, every detail reflected their style and energy.

Location: Irvington, New York, USA
Style: Modern, chic, black-tie
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 204
Setting: Loft
Season: Fall

Emily and Rob’s story began with a series of missed connections—first crossing paths in Barcelona during college, then unknowingly working in the same building in Chicago—until fate finally stepped in one summer night at a going-away party in New York. A conversation that lasted the entire evening led to their first date, a shared life in the city, and a beachside proposal in Westhampton in early summer, where Rob knelt with a ring just as both families appeared from hiding to celebrate.

Bridal Morning

Emily got ready in the hotel room, where her dress hung against the skyline and her wedding details—rings, shoes, invitations, and heirloom pearls—were carefully laid out. Her custom invitations by Sincerely Staci brought a clean, modern aesthetic that tied in with the overall style of the day. She shared a quiet moment with her mother before stepping into her dress, surrounded by calm and anticipation, before the events unfolded.

Her dress from Jesus Peiró, found at A Little Something White, featured a structured silk silhouette with a deep V neckline and a pleated skirt that opened in the front. She wore a double-strand pearl choker with a diamond clasp that belonged to her great-grandmother. Britt Bridal Hair styled her hair in soft waves, while Essie Cohen completed the look with glowing, natural makeup.

Groom's Fashion

Rob wore a custom black tuxedo with a satin lapel and crisp white shirt, finished with personalized cufflinks and patterned loafers that added a bold edge to his otherwise classic look. He got ready at the Opus Hotel in White Plains, keeping the morning quiet and focused as he prepared to see Emily for the first time.

First Look

Their first look took place in a soft-lit hallway before heading to Hudson Loft. Rob turned to see Emily for the first time in her dress, and his reaction was instant—stunned, still, and emotional. The moment gave them a chance to breathe together before the day unfolded. They held hands and shared a quiet walk through the lobby and into the elevator, both of them visibly moved.

Alex Knight Studio captured the first look with their signature editorial style—bold framing, rich contrast, and a mix of cinematic color and striking black-and-white. The photos felt clean and modern, with closeups that focused on expressions, movements, and subtle gestures. From edgy elevator portraits to quiet moments on velvet couches, each frame told the story of their connection with style and intention.

"Our approach to capturing Emily and Rob’s wedding focused on our signature editorial style, which emphasizes timeless, intentional imagery and cinematic storytelling."

Ceremony

Before the ceremony, Emily and Rob signed their ketubah surrounded by family in one of the quiet back rooms of the loft. The moment felt private and sincere—sitting close together on a red couch, they held hands and exchanged soft smiles as they finalized their vows in front of their witnesses, marking the start of their wedding with intention and tradition.

The ceremony took place under a striking chuppah covered in lush white florals and greenery by Forever In Bloom. The open structure stood tall in front of floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Hudson River and an evening sky streaked with orange and blue. Overhead, strings of fairy lights and suspended glass orbs reflected the warm candlelight scattered throughout the space. The rest of the room remained hidden behind a velvet curtain, allowing the ceremony setting to stand on its own.

As guests took their seats, the traditional Jewish rituals began. Emily walked down the aisle flanked by her parents, smiling at Rob through the crowd. They circled each other, exchanged rings, shared wine, and stood wrapped in a tallit beneath the chuppah. Rob broke the glass to cheers and applause, and the two sealed it all with a kiss as music swelled and the curtain behind them waited to rise for the next chapter of the night.

"What stood out most was their ability to seamlessly blend modern elegance with cherished Jewish traditions."

Reception

As guests moved from ceremony to reception, the velvet curtain dropped to reveal a candlelit dining room filled with black linens, white florals, and glowing gold accents planned by Events by Jesse. Tables were dressed with floating candles, glass chargers, and crisp white napkins, with florals arranged in both low clusters and dramatic tall centerpieces. The soft amber uplighting and dark tones of the loft created a warm, intimate atmosphere—elegant yet inviting. Every detail, from the custom table numbers to the mirrored accents, tied back to Emily and Rob’s modern vision.

Their first dance to “Everlasting Love” by Love Affair kicked off the celebration, followed by an energetic hora that lifted Emily, Rob, and their parents into the air to cheers and music. Starlight Music kept the floor packed all night, bringing a high-energy performance that kept guests dancing well into the evening. The vibrant energy of their dance floor brought everything to life in the photos and video, capturing movement, connection, and joy with every frame.

"The joy on their faces during the hora, as they were lifted into the air surrounded by their loved ones, was infectious."

Emily changed into a sparkly white mini dress for the second half of the night. Dinner was filled with laughter and heartfelt toasts from family and friends. A three-tiered cake by Just Desserts By Jess, finished with soft gold detailing and a single white rose, stood by the window waiting for its moment. The couple cut the cake smiling wide, then surprised guests with a late-night Shake Shack delivery. Between the speeches, photo booth snapshots, and nonstop dancing, the reception was every bit as fun and thoughtful as the day that led up to it.

"Balancing the industrial vibe of Hudson Loft with the warm, romantic ambiance the couple envisioned was challenging. Thanks to the incredible collaboration with their vendors we were able to craft a visual narrative that reflected their unique vision perfectly."

Advice from the couple:

Focus on the moments that matter most to you as a couple. The day goes by so quickly, and while the details are important, it’s the memories with your loved ones that will stay with you forever.

Take little moments to pause and soak it all in—just the two of you. Whether it’s stepping away for a few minutes after the ceremony or stealing a quiet moment during the reception, those pauses are where the magic really sinks in.

And trust your vendors! We were so fortunate to work with an incredible team who understood our vision and made the entire process feel seamless. Having people around you that you trust takes the stress out of the day, so you can truly enjoy every second.

Lastly, don’t forget to eat! It sounds simple, but it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement. Enjoy the food, have fun, and celebrate every moment together.
