Steph and David likely crossed many times through as mutual friends, but fate officially brought them together at a close friend’s wedding. Although David took nearly a year to ask Steph out, their connection ignited quickly. Their love for Chicago, family, friends, good food, and spontaneous adventures laid the foundation for relationship-defying conventions. David, often found at his family’s sports bar, perfectly complemented Steph’s wellness-focused lifestyle. Despite their differences, their love and mutual respect blossomed into a unique and vibrant partnership.

The enchanting Nizuc Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, set the stage for Steph and David’s wedding extravaganza. Against the stunning backdrop of the ocean, their celebration unfolded with a Welcome Party and Ceremony on the Beach, followed by a Reception at a Beautiful Ocean Terrace and a lively Ballroom Party. With a winter wedding in mind, the couple, with the help of wedding planner Diana and her team, magically brought their vision to life in under six months.

Recognizing the pivotal role of every detail in a wedding, Diana Romo Wedding approached the selection of wedding stationery with utmost care. Executed in rich brown and gold tones with an exquisite and stylish font, the invitations proved to be the perfect complement to the wedding’s aesthetic.

Steph looked like the beach princess in a Muse by Berta dress with a dramatic slit and elegant sparkle, complemented by a smoky eye, loose beach waves, and a natural glow.

David sported a custom oatmeal-colored suit, expertly tailored by Chicago native Josh Kercher. The bespoke ensemble, meticulously tailored to David’s unique style, not only spoke volumes about his refined taste but also added an extra layer of sophistication to his wedding day attire.

The first look between the groom and the bride unfolded as a beautiful and poignant moment. When David saw the stunning Stephanie in her wedding gown, he was momentarily speechless. Yet, within seconds, a wave of happy emotions overwhelmed him. David and Stephanie were overjoyed to share this special moment that transcended words and spoke volumes of the love and anticipation that filled the air.

Before the sun-drenched shores of Cancun witnessed David and Stephanie’s vows, the couple took a poignant step rooted in tradition by participating in the time-honored Ktuba signing ceremony. The ceremony was a blend of solemnity and joy as the couple expressed their commitment to each other in the presence of their loved ones. The Ktuba, adorned with intricate designs and calligraphy, became a tangible representation of their promises and the journey they were about to embark upon.

Traditionally symbolizing the home that David and Stephanie will build together, the chuppah’s sleek black design added a contemporary twist to the ceremony. Adorned with tropical floral arrangements, it was a stunning focal point that harmonized with the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The juxtaposition of the boldness of the monstera delisiosa leaves with the softness of the roses created a harmonious balance. The white roses, symbolizing purity and love, added a romantic touch to the tropical setting. Including palm fronds completed the tropical tableau and brought an exotic flair to the arrangement.

The wedding ceremony on David and Stephanie’s wedding day was magnificent. The backdrop for the ceremony was an excellent musical quartet featuring a unique addition – a harp. The pleasant sounds of the music created an atmosphere of a special celebration of love. Stephanie appeared on the beach, approaching the guests. There, her father and mother met her and, taking her by the hand, escorted her down the aisle to her beloved. David and Stephanie exchanged vows of eternal love in the presence of their closest loved ones. It was a wonderful, touching, and stylish ceremony.

Nizuc, a special place for Steph, became the dream venue for both once David laid eyes on it. Photographer Andre Gouin captured every moment with grace, creating a visual narrative of the weekend’s significance.

The couple envisioned a wedding that combined the glamour of Tulum with the sophistication of a New York City affair. The theme, described as “jungle meets disco,” embodied high fashion and design, adorned with gold disco balls, dramatic greenery, and touches of elevated glam. The result was a celebration that radiated glamour, boho vibes, and an undeniable sense of sexiness.

Planning a destination wedding in under six months may sound daunting, but with the expertise of Diana Romo Wedding and her team, the process was nothing short of magical. The couple’s trust in their wedding planner and the carefully curated details resulted in a seamless and unforgettable celebration. “I always like to elevate the venues chosen by the couples. I want to see wedding venues as a canvas and draw inspiration from them, consistently applying the uniqueness of each client! ” tells Diana.

An abundance of floral arrangements, combining tropical flowers with classic white roses and an array of candles and gold tableware, created an incredibly stylish and glamorous atmosphere. Vanessa Jaimes and her team’s floral arrangements, especially the one over the disco dance floor, left an indelible mark.

The wedding was not short of unique touches and unforgettable moments. Gold disco balls, a tequila station, and the energetic tunes spun by DJ Dulce created an atmosphere of celebration.

The evening reception was filled with dancing and heartfelt congratulations for the newlyweds, creating a particularly warm atmosphere.

Of course, one of the most touching moments was David and Stephanie’s dance. They twirled at the center of the dance floor, and all the guests watched this beautiful moment in enchantment.

The father-daughter dance was one of the most heartfelt moments at the wedding. Stephanie danced with her father, and it was pure magic.

DJ Dulce Rullan curated an entire night of dancing, ensuring the energy stayed high throughout. The vibe, music, thoughts, strategies, and moments were meticulously planned. Stephanie and David, who love to party, had a blast organizing the flow of the night. Ultimately, it was an incredible Tulum-style glam party that exceeded all expectations.

Unexpected elements, such as the appearance of lively disco dancers and a shower of golden confetti, infused an additional layer of exhilaration, transforming the celebration into a dynamic and festive spectacle.

Advice for brides from Diana Romo Wedding  the wedding planner:

Have fun throughout the planning. My favorite one-on-one with clients is when we start working on their wedding design, with a glass of red wine and no rush! Could you do me a favor? Forget about trends for a moment. Think about your wedding as you and your partner’s day and a big holiday with all your favorite humans!

Advice from the couple:

Don’t be afraid to create magic; the people + the venue, the great food + the abundance of tequila + and the music = an unforgettable weekend. Destination weddings allow everyone to let loose and enjoy a weekend together where everyone gets to know each other and create memories to last a lifetime. Finding the right wedding planner and trusting in them is essential. Figure out the MOMENTS that matter to you, lean in, and get creative. If it is meaningful to you, your guests will never forget it. We knew our crew would bring their A-Game, so spending quality time with DJ Dulce to explain our vibe led to the most fabulous dance party ever.
