Chateau Bliss and Castle Charm at a Swiss Wedding

Location: Riedholz, Switzerland
Setting: Chateau
Wedding season:
Summer
How long did the couple plan the event: 9 months

Number of guests: 85
Wedding theme/style:
Classic, romantic.

Marcella and Jonas had been together for six years before deciding to get married. With Marcella coming from the United States and Jonas from Switzerland, their shared passions for travel, exquisite food, and social gatherings led them to choose a destination wedding. They envisioned a classic and romantic celebration, yet infused with subtlety, to share with their cherished ones in a stunning Swiss setting.

Marcella’s entire look — dress, hair, and makeup — exuded class and elegance, matching the chic atmosphere of the location. The bouquet added a touch of classy chic, and their best friend stylishly drove them in a Bentley. Despite the classic styling, the overall appearance was modern and stylish, thanks to the Pronovias dress.

Jonas was wearing a navy blue suit with a matching gray vest accented with a patterned dark blue bow tie and a neat floral boutonniere. A white pocket square and a classic silver wristwatch complete his joyous look.

The couple chose Schloss Waldegg for their first look, renting it for a few hours. This location was special to them, and they wanted to have a shooting there, especially because of the privacy and exclusivity that it offered. After, their best friend stylishly drove them in a Bentley.

Sandra from Bartels Photography switched lenses effectively for outdoor and indoor shots, giving a real sense of depth to the outdoor images while maintaining clarity and intimacy indoors. Each photo, whether a spontaneous moment or a planned scene, tells a part of the day’s story in a straightforward way. The focus on small details, like the patterns on a dress or the neat arrangement at the reception, or the smiles of the couple, is done with a practical touch and shows her focus on all important elements of the wedding.

The couple joined their friends and family at the Chateau Attisholz, where they had the intimate ceremony in the garden with a beautiful setup. Their celebrant held a very touching speech which left tears in the guests’ eyes.

During the cocktail hour, guests relaxed with refreshing apple prosecco and tasty canapés as a duo of musicians provided a soft soundtrack to the chatter. The atmosphere was laid-back but classy, perfect for unwinding and catching up before the main celebration.

The reception took place in the chateau’s ‘Hofsaal’ ballroom. Marcella drew inspiration from platforms like Instagram and Pinterest, but her unique style and vision primarily guided the wedding’s design. In addition to flowers, she and her network of family and friends contributed to various aspects of the wedding, including signs, favors, and invitation cards.
