Location: Toronto, Canada
Setting: Modern Industrial Space
Wedding season: Spring
The number of guests: 170
How long did the couple plan the event: 1 year
Wedding theme/style: A joyful celebration set at a refined industrial venue accented with unique textural details and artistic florals.
Robert and Jennifer first met in Toronto back in 2015. They attended the same university for four years and ran in similar social circles but never crossed paths. After graduating, Robert started law school, and Jennifer moved back to Toronto. When they were first introduced, he was in town one weekend for a friend’s birthday. The moment Jennifer saw him, there was an immediate spark. Exactly three months later, they started dating long-distance, and eight years later, they got married.
Jennifer and Robert aimed for a joyous celebration in an industrial setting adorned with distinctive textural elements and artistic floral arrangements. The talented team at Blush & Bowties designed an elegant and sophisticated wedding with a touch of modern romance. It was important for the couple to complement the raw industrial beauty of the restored warehouse with formal attire, modern florals, and a muted color scheme to create a cohesive atmosphere, and the planners successfully brought their vision to life.
Jennifer’s morning was magical as she and her loved ones prepared for the wedding day. She aimed for a natural and authentic look that truly reflected her. Ashley Readings styled her hair into loose, elegantly-parted curls that cascaded gracefully around her shoulders and back. Jennifer desired makeup to highlight her stunning blue eyes and complement her brown hair, aiming for radiant skin and softly blushed cheeks to achieve a soft and feminine look.
Jennifer opted for a chic, minimalistic and trendy gown: “Having previously worked in the wedding industry, I have remained immersed in bridal design and wedding trends. When I saw Katherine Tash‘s new collection, I knew I wanted to marry in one of her dresses. I wanted something unique and different from trends I had seen over the years.”
To complete her look, Jennifer wore Stuart Weizman shoes, which she found to be the most comfortable choice. Additionally, she adorned herself with a stunning set of pearl drop earrings, a cherished family heirloom from her husband’s side. Borrowed from her mother-in-law, these earrings fulfilled the “something borrowed” tradition. Her choice of jewelry was elegantly minimalistic, ensuring that her wedding dress remained the focal point of her attire.
Jennifer had a deeply emotional first look with her parents. It was a touching and beautiful moment filled with love, warmth, and the promise of a wonderful day ahead.
Jennifer and her bridesmaids looked absolutely gorgeous as they kicked off the wedding day and headed to the venue. She requested that each of her bridesmaids dress in elegant sage green and brown tones. They were free to select her dress color and design, creating a beautiful contrast that highlighted everyone’s individual style and personality.
Robert donned a stylish black suit, perfectly complementing their sophisticated and elegant wedding theme. He and his groomsmen had a fantastic start to the day, filled with conversations and laughter.
The first look shared between the couple was a truly intimate and memorable moment. Love enveloped them as they prepared to exchange vows and celebrate with their loved ones.
Before the ceremony, the lovebirds spent a moment posing for portraits. Their talented photographer, Scarlet O’Neill, was there to capture every moment of this beautiful wedding day, creating lasting memories for the couple and their guests.
Jennifer and Robert were initially drawn to The Symes because the venue felt like a blank canvas where they could create a wedding that truly reflected their unique style as a couple. The ceremony space had a refined industrial ambiance with unique textural details and artistic floral accents.
Before the ceremony, the couple took part in the signing of the Ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage contract.
Jennifer and Robert’s ceremony was truly memorable. To add a special touch, a string quartet performed Coldplay’s “Yellow” and Harry Styles’ “Adore You” during the ceremony, creating a touching and romantic ambiance as the couple exchanged vows.
The couple’s vision, expertly brought to life by the dedicated planners at Blush & Bowties, culminated in a truly marvelous celebration. Drawing inspiration from their individual styles and personalities, they aimed to create an intentionally sophisticated yet surprising event. With Jennifer’s maid of honor, who was also their florist at Moswn Flowers, they achieved a unique vision, featuring stunning hanging installations and smaller, carefully curated table florals in plum purple, green, and ivory hues, perfectly capturing the essence of spring wedding without overwhelming the space.
The festivities started with everyone joyfully participating in the traditional Hora dance, creating a lively and fun-filled atmosphere.
The dinner, set under a beautiful canopy of moss domes and warm candles, exuded a romantic ambiance. Family and friends showered the newlyweds with heartfelt wishes, creating a deeply touching and emotional atmosphere at the reception, filled with love and warmth.
Jennifer and Robert made the most of the magical golden hour during their wedding celebration by getting some romantic portraits taken by their photographer.
The cake also took center stage at the wedding reception: “Our cake was a delicious two-tier heart-shaped cake with lemon and vanilla icing made by the talented Brooke of Cry Baby Cakes – heaven on earth for a bride with a major sweet tooth!”
Jennifer shares: “At the reception, we had a 10-piece band named “The Universal Boogie Band,” which also played at my sister-in-law’s wedding. They have a heavy Motown vibe and play songs by Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson while mixing new music from different genres. We spent the night on the dance floor, dancing and singing along with friends, family, and the band. It turned into a massive dance party with all of our favorite people.”
Advice from the couple:
• The wedding is just one day out of your love story. The details are important of course but never let that override what you are there to celebrate, your love for each other. Dance the night away with your people!
