A Week of Celebration on the Riviera Maya

Featured Members

Alexandra and Raphael’s wedding took guests through the jungle, into cenotes, across candlelit dinners and all-night dance floors. The couple wanted every moment to feel different, and Diana Romo Weddings shaped that rhythm with precision. From ancient rituals to modern beats, the celebration moved with energy and intention.

Location: Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Style: Exotic, joyful, layered
Time of planning: 10 months
Number of guests: 150
Setting: Hacienda, Jungle, Beach, Garden
Season: Winter

Alexandra, a dentist, and Raphael, a doctor, knew each other from medical school, but as the bride said, they “really met” at a friend’s wedding. Raphael proposed during a trip to Sweden: after a weekend in Stockholm with friends, he surprised Alexandra with a flight to Lapland and proposed during a private snowbike tour in the darkness — the only light came from the ring box.

Wanting something far from the French wedding season, Alexandra dreamed of marrying in Mexico. “I love Mexico so the answer was quick,” she said. Raphael’s only wish was to make her happy, and together they designed a week-long celebration that felt entirely different from anything back home.

Welcome Day

The wedding week began with a joyful, color-splashed welcome party at El Pueblito Mayakoba, where the space was designed to feel like an authentic Mexican plaza. Bright papel picado and ribbon installations created a canopy of movement above the courtyard, while woven peacock chairs and clay vases grounded the lounge areas in texture.

Guests followed the all-white dress code, which made Alexandra’s deep red halter gown stand out instantly. She paired it with sculptural gold earrings and a red lipstick, while Raphael wore a white suit with a red boutonniere for their grand entrance.

Music and movement filled every corner. A mariachi band opened the night, followed by live vocals and keyboard from a Paris-based performer. Later, friends formed a long line, dancing in with traditional baskets raised high, filled with gifts. “My favorite moment was when I arrived at the welcome party,” Alexandra said. “It was the first minute of this incredible week… the dream was coming true.”

"The week was pure Mexican Soul and layered experiences in multiple locations, each with a distinct ambiance, color palette and style – all Mexico, all Riviera Maya!"

Cenote Party

On day two, the mood shifted from hacienda to jungle. Alexandra and Raphael hosted a full takeover of Vesica Tulum — a wild cenote club hidden deep in the forest. It was the kind of place where nothing needed to be added: lush palms, stone steps, and clear water did all the talking. Guests lounged on wooden platforms and cabanas draped in white linen, swam in the emerald water, and danced barefoot under a palm-thatched roof.

"Usually couples host a pool party, but when you have a natural pool – cenote – in the middle of the jungle, it’s just a no-brainer."

Alexandra wore a fringe two-piece set with gold body paint and tribal jewelry, perfectly capturing the Tulum-meets-Coachella vibe she envisioned. FOMO’s DJ kept the energy up all afternoon, and a live flutist wove through the crowd with spontaneous melodies. “This place is exactly what I was envisioning,” she said, and every detail, from the coconuts on arrival to the white and gold body paint, made it feel like an unrepeatable moment.

Bridal Morning

Alexandra’s wedding dress by Nathalie Ettedgui Paris featured delicate floral appliqués and a deep illusion neckline that gave way to a completely open back. She wore her hair in a classic bun adorned with tiny blooms, keeping the rest of her styling clean and radiant. Her Jimmy Choo heels added a subtle shine, elegant and minimal beneath the sheer hem.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the beach at Saasil Kantenah, surrounded by tall palms and facing the open sea. Instead of a traditional chuppah, Alexandra chose a tipi-inspired structure made from bamboo poles, softened with tropical greenery, white roses, and hanging vines. The aisle was clean and minimal, lined with ceramic urns and loose arrangements in shades of ivory and green. It felt natural, but elevated — open to the sea breeze, carefully composed.

Before Alexandra appeared, a young ring bearer in a sage green suit walked down the aisle to applause. Guests rose as she entered on her father’s arm, holding a cascading bouquet of white orchids and anemones. A voice recording of Alexandra reading a poem played just before she reached Raphael, catching everyone by surprise and setting a deeply personal tone. The couple stood beneath the canopy alongside their rabbi, who had flown in from Paris. The ceremony followed Jewish traditions, and there was warmth in every step, from the wine blessing and breaking the glass to the final embrace beneath the tallit.

"Despite a bit of unexpected rain, the energy remained beautiful and deeply moving."

Decor & Setting

Dinner unfolded beneath a clear-top tent, where Diana Romo Weddings crafted a setting that felt effortless and intentional. The tablescape mixed textures with ease: woven placemats, clay pots, crisp linens, and airy florals by Más Que Ayer Floral Design in soft whites and greens. Every table bore the name of a Mexican destination, such as Isla Mujeres, Holbox, or Acapulco, painted in white script on terracotta vessels. These handmade touches gave each table character without overpowering the calm elegance of the scene. Diana’s team brought balance to every detail, creating a space that reflected the heart of the couple’s vision.

"Florals were kept natural and romantic, soft whites and greens with loose, organic movement."

Reception

Dinner flowed naturally, without any formal interruptions. There was no first dance, no cake cutting — just a warm, continuous rhythm that carried the evening forward. Guests lingered at their tables over wine and conversation, occasionally rising to greet friends or wander toward the dance floor. Laughter moved from table to table, and the mood stayed easy and fluid, like the kind of dinner you never want to leave.

As soon as the music picked up, the crowd surged toward the stage. FOMO Production kept the energy high all night, blending live vocals, DJ sets, and just the right amount of chaos. Alexandra and Raphael were lifted into the air for the hora, holding hands as they kissed mid-lift, surrounded by a circle of shouting friends. A party built on pure presence, with no need for performances.

"It wasn’t just a wedding! It was a journey through Mexico, curated with love."
