Mexico remains one of the most beloved destinations for a wedding, and Los Cabos is a big part of that draw. We sat down with the team at Mar del Cabo, one of our favorite member venues there, to talk about the setting, the food, and what a wedding day actually looks like from sunrise to fireworks.
It sits between desert and ocean, cactus gardens on one side, the Sea of Cortez on the other. White walls, classic columns, bougainvillea everywhere. What a Wedding Day Looks Like Here
The day starts before anyone’s awake for it. Sunrise breaks over the Sea of Cortez, waves against the shore, palm leaves moving in the wind. Somewhere in that quiet, the hotel is already becoming the wedding: flowers arriving, lights going up, the wedding planner working through the final details. By the time the couple opens their eyes, there’s nothing left to do but enjoy the day. As the team put it, “there is no rush, there is no stress; everything is perfectly coordinated.”

Ceremonies happen at the Terraza del Sol, a lawn terrace the team describes as “covered with fresh green grass,” giving the couple a full view of the Sea of Cortez and privacy for the moment they’ve been waiting for. From there, everyone moves down to the beach for dinner under the stars, with live music running through the toasts. As the night goes on, the energy shifts. Fireworks go up, the cake gets cut, and the party takes over.

Made to Feel Like Yours
Los Cabos has plenty of grand hotel backdrops. Mar del Cabo works differently. Instead of architecture built to impress on its own, the space is designed to put the couple’s celebration at the center of it. As the team explained, “unlike places that are architecturally majestic, Mar del Cabo makes you feel majestic, because your event is the big thing.”

Full buyouts are available, meaning wedding parties can take over the entire boutique property. Dinner comes from Encanto, the on-site restaurant built around a “farm-to-table” concept, serving real local Baja flavors instead of standard banquet fare.

Who It's For
Mar del Cabo tends to draw couples who want their wedding to feel like a gathering, not a production. Micro-weddings and intimate destination celebrations are a natural fit here, along with couples drawn to organic textures, local flowers, and a mezcal in hand under the stars. Above all, the team wants guests to feel “at home instead of in an impersonal hotel.”

The Morning After
Ask the team what stays with them, and it’s not the ceremony. It’s the morning after, when the property empties out and the ocean takes back over. “It is as if the world is telling you that you made the right decision,” the team said, “and that the person you chose and the place you picked to celebrate couldn’t have been any other.” The sun comes up fast over the water, just long enough to sit with it all: the toasts, the laughs and tears, the deep blue of the night before.
