A Wedding That Balanced Everything with Soul and Style

Featured Members

Emielva and Marcin’s intimate wedding at Parc Broekhuizen was a curated harmony of architectural grace, cultural storytelling, and elevated design. Each chapter of their celebration moved through intentional contrasts — minimalist structure met bold symbolism, vintage accents played against clean modernity, and every detail served both style and meaning. The entire celebration felt like a reflection of their world — elegant, bold, and completely personal.

Location: Leersum, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Style: Elegant, Artful, Chic
Number of guests: 33
Setting: Estate
Season: Summer

Emielva and Marcin met in 2019 through a dating app while living in Amsterdam, and quickly discovered a shared love of art, design, and unapologetic romance. Their relationship, marked by meaningful gestures and big emotions, laid the foundation for a wedding that was as expressive as it was intimate.

From the very beginning, they envisioned their day as a celebration of connection — with each other, with their families, and with the cultures that shaped them — Marcin is Polish, and Emielva is Dutch-Indonesian. That meant weaving in bold floral choices and symbolic rituals and creating a mood where elegance and spontaneity could exist side by side.

Location & Concept

Set against the classical backdrop of Parc Broekhuizen — a grand estate in the heart of the Netherlands — the wedding concept revolved around contrast: delicate lace and sharp tailoring, soft candlelight and bursts of red, quiet tradition, and joyful surprise. “Our main goal was to create a cross-cultural aesthetic that reflected both our individual stories and our shared values,” the bride shared.

The venue’s symmetry and neutral interiors provided the perfect canvas. The couple was inspired by the estate’s history, charm, and how it aligned with them. “We chose Parc Broekhuizen for its architectural beauty, lush surroundings, and refined ambiance, which felt both iconic and personal,” Emielva added. “We were drawn to the combination of old-world charm and contemporary luxury, and the venue offered intimate and private rooms, perfect for our wedding of only 33 guests.”

Pre-wedding Shoot

Before the wedding day, Emielva and Marcin took time to slow down at the estate with a pre-wedding shoot — a stylish, cinematic session that set the tone for everything to come. They posed with a vintage red convertible, its sleek lines and crimson leather interior creating a striking backdrop for their looks.

Emielva wore a crisp white shirt-dress with a structured corset layered on top, accessorized with double-strand pearls, bright red lipstick, sculptural heels, and a matching red clutch — stylish accents that added a playful edge. Marcin chose an espresso brown polo and ivory trousers, a look that felt polished but unfussy.

The photographer, Anna Roussos, guided them gently through the shoot, offering just enough direction to make every frame feel polished without losing their natural dynamic. The result was a series of portraits that felt both editorial and intimate — laughter, stolen glances, champagne toasts, and a warm, natural light that matched their energy.

"Anna Roussos was amazing. She had such a calm and reassuring presence that it didn't take long for us to relax and enjoy the experience."

Fashion

Emielva’s bridal look was rooted in classic Hollywood glamour. Her off-the-shoulder satin gown from Atelier Edwin Oudshoorn featured sculptural draping and a softly gathered waist, complemented by a cathedral-length veil with lace detailing at the edges. “What I loved most about the dress was how flattering it looked on my body, thanks to the structured bodice and corsetry, and how feminine I felt wearing it,” added the bride.

She wore bold statement earrings by Tulola with baroque pearls and a pop of red lipstick that became her signature for the day. Her makeup was done by Lenie Lurvink, who gave her a timeless, radiant look that perfectly echoed the elegance of the day. For the evening, she changed into a ruffled halter dress with floral embroidery and asymmetrical pleats — effortlessly playful and perfect for dancing.

Marcin wore a sharply tailored tuxedo by Michael Giso with midnight blue satin lapels and a black bowtie. The look was refined and quietly commanding.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in one of Parc Broekhuizen’s light-filled rooms, framed by tall arched windows and neutral walls. Guests were welcomed with hand-painted folding fans on their seats — a nod to Emielva’s heritage and a thoughtful touch for the warm day.

The couple also decided to rent chairs with rattan backs — a material widely used in Indonesia — which added warmth and natural texture to the setting.

“Our backdrop was custom-made from scratch, inspired by a classical Greek archway,” shared the bride. The fresh white lilies by The House of Artz climbed a bold, graphic black frame, forming a sculptural altar that felt contemporary yet romantic.

The ceremony felt rounded and natural, and the couple’s closeness made it even more intimate. A live string quartet, London Strings, played softly in the background, adding warmth and emotion to the atmosphere. It was quiet, sincere, and deeply moving.

Cocktail Hour with Desserts

The cocktail hour took place on the estate’s covered terrace, overlooking manicured gardens. A playful vignette of vintage-style café chairs with red velvet cushions and hanging lampshades gave the space a whimsical, French patisserie feel.

Guests sipped champagne and admired the couple’s white-tiered cake by Remya’s Cake Studio — a sculptural creation adorned with sugar orchids. Emielva and Marcin cut the cake together, laughing as they served each other the first slice. The table was covered in printed linen and surrounded by delicate glass coupe desserts.

And then came the sabrage. In a moment of pure flair, the couple opened a bottle of champagne with a ceremonial sword, sending the cork flying — it was bold, theatrical, and utterly memorable.

Private Moment

As twilight set in, the couple slipped away for a few minutes of quiet. They wandered through the estate grounds, taking in the fading light and the stillness of the moment.

"Looking back, we're so grateful for Anna Roussos's expertise and how she made the entire experience fun and memorable. The photos she captured feel like us, but also the best version of us, and we'll cherish them forever."

Decor & Setting

The reception dinner unfolded under a canopy of glowing filament lights, with long tables dressed in toile-inspired linens and surrounded by vintage lampshades. Florals added texture and color — bold arrangements of lilies, orchids, dahlias, and anthuriums in tones of ivory, blush, and deep red. As a wedding planner herself, Emielva wanted every detail of the celebration to reflect their style and story. To bring that vision to life, she partnered with SANTÉ Weddings, whose fantastic team helped translate her ideas into a cohesive design.

Each element carried meaning, from the symbolic produce on the fireplace mantel to the laser-cut carousel menus and intricate stationery by Pen to Paper, which blended Indonesian batik, Polish wycinanki, and the couple’s favorite blooms into a uniquely personal visual language.

Reception

The dinner was accompanied by a live pianist, filling the space with classical melodies as conversations and toasts unfolded. The couple and their guests were treated to a refined multi-course menu, with seasonal dishes prepared by the venue’s Michelin-starred kitchen.

It was a reception that felt both luxurious and deeply inviting.

As the evening deepened, Emielva changed into her second dress, and the party truly began. The couple opened the dance floor with contagious energy, setting the tone for a night full of movement and music. Shot glasses of tequila were passed around, the beat picked up, and guests danced under the soft light of the overhead chandeliers.

It wasn’t just a reception — it was a celebration in every sense. The couple, the guests, the decor — everything looked beautiful. Elegant, joyful, and full of charm, it was a true expression of aesthetic harmony.
