A Spring-Inspired Garden Wedding in California

Location: Santa Barbara, California, US
Setting: Private garden, outdoor club
Wedding season: Spring
The number of guests: 157
How long did the couple plan the event: 1 year
Wedding theme/style: Spring, floral, whimsical, elegant.

Ivy and Jeremy’s first conversations began on a dating app, with a lucky swipe leading to weeks of cautious small talk through messages and emojis. The awkwardness of their initial meeting over a meal quickly dissipated as they shared intimate conversations in the back of a truck until dawn. “We realized it wasn’t just the conversation that was electric, but the connection itself. A spark ignited by a swipe, fanned by shared laughter and vulnerability, burning bright under the indifferent gaze of a million stars,” shares the couple.

The proposal was unique and unexpected. Ivy, known for her gardening skills, shared a garden plot with Jeremy at a community garden near their home. Jeremy came up with a creative idea to hide the ring inside a seed packet, pretending he had found some seeds for Ivy to plant. When he presented her with the packet labeled “Emerald Ring Finger Melons,” Ivy looked at him questioningly before opening it to find the emerald ring inside.

Ivy wanted a timeless yet playful Spring look for her wedding day. She chose a gorgeous, minimalist wedding dress with a stylish bow. She opted for minimalistic makeup and styled her hair in cascading waves.

Jeremy wore a light blue suit, which perfectly matched the wedding theme. He had a great time getting ready for the fantastic day ahead.

As Ivy walked towards Jeremy, his heart skipped a beat. Their eyes met, and in that moment, all the nerves melted away, replaced by pure love and joy.

The couple wanted a Spring-inspired, English Cottage Garden-themed wedding that was both whimsical and elegant. Ivy and Jeremy chose the photographer Reagan Suitt at Olive and Oath, who beautifully captured their special day. From the vibrant wedding morning to the evening gelato session and joyful dances, she documented all the details of this wonderful and sunny day for the newlyweds and their guests.

The ceremony space perfectly reflected the wedding theme, adorned with vibrant spring flowers and stationery with floral patterns. Just before the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to write wishes for the couple in a large guest book.

The ceremony was filled with smiles and tears of happiness as Jeremy and Ivy exchanged vows.

Just before the party, the newlyweds celebrated with a cocktail hour, enjoying quality time with loved ones and sipping on refreshing drinks.

Jeremy and Ivy envisioned an elegant garden party inspired by Spring. The tables were adorned with vibrant flowers and handmade stationery, setting a special atmosphere for the celebration. Ivy dreamt of a sophisticated outdoor setting illuminated by fairy lights, where they would be surrounded by the love and joy of friends and family.

The newlyweds aimed to create a wedding day that celebrated their love and immersed guests in the magical allure of spring, symbolized by the radiant and timeless beauty of Ivy’s emerald ring. This celebration was a memorable union of love, nature, and elegance.

The celebration was fantastic, with the newlyweds dancing, cutting the cake, and honoring traditions. They added, “Neither of us is religious, but Jeremy comes from a Jewish family, so we followed some traditional Jewish wedding traditions during the ceremony, and for one of them, the horah, we changed into traditional Vietnamese gowns to honor Ivy’s Vietnamese family and heritage. The photos capture the melding of our families.”

The celebration continued as the newlyweds and guests enjoyed various gelato flavors. This added to the magic of the wedding, making it even more unforgettable and unique.

Advice from the couple:

Your vendors know best, they have all had a lot more experience with weddings than you ever will.
