Holly and Calvin turned The Cape into their own modern set, and LA76 Photography documented every clean line and sharp contrast. They chose to get married in the very place where Calvin had proposed, bringing the story full circle above the same Cabo horizon. The entire idea hinged on mixing biomes. On one side, open ocean and a soft horizon. On the other, cactus silhouettes and dry architectural lines. That tension shaped everything. Baja coastal brutalism met black-tie nightlife, and the result felt controlled, intentional, and fully self-aware.

Style: Modern, Costal, Black-tie
Number of guests: 60
Setting: Oceanfront Teracce
Season: Spring

Holly and Calvin first met in 2008 in her parents’ garage, when he was buying a motorcycle from her brother. They kept running into each other through mutual friends for years before reconnecting during her freshman year of college. It started as daily messages during her 8 am class and turned into a dinner, then ice cream, and then into something that never really paused. They have been in sync ever since.

Last March, Calvin brought the story back to Cabo. He proposed at sunset on the balcony of the panoramic suite at The Cape, completely catching her off guard. She did not even have a fresh manicure because he had insisted her butter-yellow nails “looked fine.” They had just come back from the pool and were getting ready for dinner when he suggested champagne and tequila shots before sunset. The ring is a classic round brilliant she showed him years ago, and he remembered. He created it with his uncle Thao, which made the gesture feel even more personal.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

The bride wanted her look to feel truly once-in-a-lifetime, something she would never have a reason to wear again. From a distance, her Monique Lhuillier gown read as pure white against the Cabo light. Up close, though, the illusion shifted. A barely-there baby’s breath print surfaced across the organza, soft green-grey tones woven so delicately into the fabric. That subtle pattern quietly echoed the wedding palette and even nodded to Calvin’s favorite color.

She kept her accessories minimal so nothing would interrupt the dress. Amina Muaddi heels added a polished, almost Cinderella-like finish, and Amor diamond earrings by Wish Fine Jewelry brought just enough light. Her beauty look stayed sharp and modern, with a smoky eye, luminous skin, and full, voluminous curls. A cascade of white calla lilies completed the picture, mirroring the gown’s clean lines.

Groom’s Fashion

The groom stayed sharp and deliberate in a Tom Ford tuxedo cut with precise, clean tailoring. It was classic black tie, but styled with restraint, so it felt current. He paired it with Jimmy Choo loafers, which kept the silhouette sleek from head to toe.

The boutonniere added a sculptural, almost organic interruption against the dark jacket. His most personal detail, though, was the mint green Rolex Datejust. It was the first watch Holly ever bought him, and the flash of green tied quietly back to the wedding palette without trying too hard.

First Look

One of the most deliberate choices they made was keeping their looks a complete surprise. Neither Holly nor Calvin had any idea what the other would be wearing, which made the first look feel raw and unproduced. The moment landed harder because it was fully unscripted.

Ceremony

The ceremony unfolded with the ocean sitting quietly in the background. The palette moved in three layers that carried through the entire weekend. Sun-bleached whites showed up in the dress, the stone walls, and the daylight itself. Inky black grounded the space through tailoring, candles, and architectural shadows. Martini-olive green threaded through linens, fruit, and the surrounding landscape.

Low clouds of white hydrangeas stretched across the ground instead of rising into an arch. Trails of greenery spilled outward and downward, softening the stone without interrupting the horizon. The flowers mixed classic structure with tropical texture, which kept the arrangement grounded without turning it into a beach cliche. Behind them, a dramatic fan palm framed the scene like a graphic halo.

Guests were welcomed by a live string trio. Holly and Calvin chose a traditional ceremony structure, but they stripped it down visually. There was no bridal party. Just the two of them and their officiant, Mo, standing inside the frame of sea and stone. Mo, a close friend they met through her brother, delivered a custom speech that balanced sincerity with humor. He even wove in a Fast & Furious reference, as a subtle callback to the garage where their story began.

The emotional center of the ceremony came when Holly walked down the aisle with her father. He is currently battling cancer, and only a year ago doctors believed he would enter hospice. That walk carried real weight; it was a real miracle.

They exited to Danza Kuduro, shifting the mood instantly from solemn to celebratory. The biggest surprise came during their vows. Neither had heard a word the other wrote. Yet when they spoke, their promises mirrored each other so closely it felt almost rehearsed.

Moments Together

Before the ceremony moved into dinner and nightfall, the couple stepped away for a quiet pocket of time together. The terrace design was layered and intentional, the ceremony emotionally charged, but this part felt stripped back. Just sand, ocean, and late-day light. It was the exhale before the evening unfolded.

Romana of LA76 Photography stayed with them along the shoreline, and the energy shifted immediately. “Holly and Calvin were a dream to photograph,” shares Romana. “They fully immersed themselves in their wedding weekend and enjoyed all of the events.” That immersion shows most clearly here in between.

When all the planning was done, they let their vendor team take care of the details so they could be present,” the photographer adds. After the architectural precision of the ceremony space, this stretch of sand felt like the most honest part of the day.

Reception

The reception design took over the terrace long before the first toast. Marianna Idirin and her team approached the space like a concept lounge. A black pergola structure anchored the dinner area, and oversized custom chandeliers in deep green hung above like sculptural installations. The whole setting read as an outdoor members-only club set against the sea.

We deliberately moved away from traditional wedding colors,” the planner shared. “Green velvet and fringe let us push the design while still honoring the venue’s dramatic black lines.” The tables were styled like a dark still-life: grapes, black glass, candlelight, and one crisp white menu card. Sculptural ikebana-inspired arrangements in green and white spilled outward with fruit layered in, balancing classic composition with something more tropical and alive.

When daylight softened, the space shifted into something deeper. The florals turned into a night garden under candlelight. The sea disappeared into darkness and the terrace gained depth. Cocktail hour moved into dinner with a panoramic view of El Arco behind them, and the mood felt curated rather than formal.

Holly and Calvin kept the program tight. They shared their first dance to a cover of Still Into You, then skipped traditional speeches in favor of a brief thank-you together. Instead of a cake cutting, they opted for a curated dessert bar.

After dinner, the energy pivoted. The couple changed outfits and re-entered beneath fireworks. His look shifted into a sharper evening statement, while hers moved into a second dress that carried more texture and shine, built for movement under low light. Disco dancers took over the floor, and the terrace turned fully nightlife.

Espresso martinis and carajillos stole the show, with bartenders weaving through the crowd carrying trays of tequila shots. “Our goal was to create a visual experience that matched the natural beauty around us,” the planner said. By midnight, it felt less like a wedding reception and more like a high-design party suspended above the ocean.

Advice from the couple:

Choose a planner and vendors who genuinely align with your vision and aesthetic. It makes such a difference to work with people whose artistry you love and whose professionalism you can rely on. When you feel confident in your team, you can truly relax and enjoy the day.

• It also helps to think about everything you’ve ever appreciated as a wedding guest and try to incorporate those touches. Creating an unforgettable guest experience is something people will remember long after the night is over.

• The day flies by, so make sure you actually enjoy the food, the drinks, and all the activities you planned. Don’t rush through the night — be present and experience everything you spent months planning and creating.
