Svita Sobol, Digital Director at Purple Magazine and founder of consulting agency SVITA Collective, met Mac Hadar, CEO of H. Lorenzo, in Los Angeles two and a half years ago during Paris Fashion Week, at a dinner hosted by Natalie from MSBHV at their friends’ restaurant, Sugaar, in Saint-Germain. Around forty guests filled the room that night, and by chance, the only empty seat left was the one beside Svita, where Mac somehow ended up. Nothing much came of that first evening, apart from an unsuccessful attempt by Mac to get her out on the dance floor at Silencio, but six months later, the two ran into each other again during Milan Fashion Week.

The engagement came together in a simple moment during a trip to Florence for Pitti Uomo in January. Visiting the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte, Mac got down on one knee and asked Svita to spend the rest of her life with him. That evening, the two had an intimate family dinner at Osteria delle Tre Panche. “The best penne vodka in Tuscany,” Svita adds.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding?
Ever since I was young, I had dreamed of a classic Sicilian wedding inspired by the opening scene of The Godfather, wedding of Kenny. Long before I met my husband, I would save photos of the most beautiful venues across Sicily whenever I came across them. So when we decided to get married, it was kind of clear, so we took a trip to Sicily in the winter to see our favorite locations in person. The moment we visited these two venues, we knew they were the ones—we didn’t even feel the need to look anywhere else. We proceeded quite quickly and planned the entire wedding in 4 months. Our goal was to have really only friends and family, which ended up being 150 people.
For the first evening, we hosted a family-style Shabbat dinner at Castello del Solacium in Syracuse, a 13th-century hunting retreat built by Frederick II. Surrounded by orange gardens and dramatic towers, it looked so special that it almost felt like a movie set rather than a venue.
For the ceremony and wedding celebration, we chose Dimora delle Balze, a beautifully restored 19th-century estate. We loved its balance of elegance and intimacy, with olive groves, citrus orchards, and the Baroque countryside hills creating a one-of-a-kind backdrop for the ceremony. At the same time, the estate offered everything we wanted for our guests—from beautiful rooms to a spa, pool, and restaurant—allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the entire weekend together.
Could you tell us about your four different looks throughout the weekend?
I had a few dresses, as the fashion aspect has probably been one of the most exciting parts for me. The dress for the first night is a custom dress by Rick Owens, co-designed with my best friend and maid of honor (or dishonor), Tyrone Dylan.
“The original concept of the wedding dress comes from a T-shirt from Rick’s second runway show in New York City, suckerball SS03. We then developed it into a gown for our last fall/winter 26 women’s runway show, Tower. We refitted and made adjustments to flatter Svita’s figure to give an hourglass goddess silhouette. The gown is in silk charmeuse fabric, from Fantoccoli in Como.“
“When Svita suggested some kind of a veil, we thought the hooded cape was appropriate and gives the drama in the lightest fabric but is more suited to the first night Shabbat. The cape comes from our Fogachine SS22 men’s runway and was adjusted to fit our bride. It is made from a Japanese superfine nylon called ‘angel tears.'” – Tyrone Dylan.
The look was paired with white custom Cantilever. For the jewelry, I went for a minimal mood with two Elsa Peretti cuffs and a strong but minimal DYNE by Sarah Ysabel Dyne diamond ear cuff.
For the ceremony dress, we have created a custom look with Alessandra Rich. The dress was paired with white satin Manolo Blahnik shoes and diamond studs.
“Svita herself was the inspiration. We wanted to create a dress that reflected her essence rather than impose an idea upon her. The vision was something dreamy and ethereal: delicate lace, a sweeping train and a long veil in Chantilly lace. It was about creating a sense of mystery and anticipation, allowing her to be revealed gradually, like a vision. More emotion than image.” – Alessandra Rich.
For the final look of the weekend, we created a dress with my friend, LA-based designer Alessandro Francalanci, who launched his brand just 2 years ago after leading the ready-to-wear under Tom Ford for years. The dress was paired with iconic Giuseppe Zanotti Slim 2.0 105 fish design in white and Mikimoto pearls.
“Movement has always been at the heart of my work. One of my greatest inspirations is Bob Mackie—not only for his extraordinary embroidery, but for the way he designed with the wearer in mind. This gown was designed to move. I wanted the embroidery to feel as though pearls were cascading from the body, with a surface inspired by the inside of an oyster shell. The bodice is constructed through layers of tulle, embroidered net, sequins, and glass beads, finished with hand-sewn crystal waves that sculpt the silhouette. Built on an internal corseted foundation, it balances structure with freedom of movement, ending in a waterfall of pearl strands that flow with every step.
It was about celebrating Svita’s body, the special moment, and the memories created while wearing it.” – Alessandro Franalanci.
Could you tell us about the ceremony details?
The ceremony was held at Dimora Delle Balze, with a view of the Baroque countryside hills, creating a one-of-a-kind backdrop for the ceremony. The entire chuppah moment almost felt as if the world had stopped, and there was nothing but the two of us and the rabbi, who is important to mention was a woman, who is also our therapist back home in LA, and it was very meaningful to have her marrying us. Once the official part was over, our daughter Olympia Victoria and our toy poodle Romy joined us under the chuppah to finish the ritual and walk together.
We both wrote personal vows, which felt so special, and some of our guests after the wedding said that the ceremony made them believe in love again.
Post-ceremony, we kept the very old tradition of staying alone for 18 minutes before we got swayed away by the warm wishes from friends and family. That moment felt very special because we knew that from now on, we are not Svita and Mac but a unit.
How did the concept or vision for the wedding come together?
Our main goal was for the weekend to feel full of love, warmth, and emotion. On the first evening, I welcomed everyone with a speech about how the weekend wasn’t just a celebration of our family, but of every kind of love—between parents and children, friends, chosen family, and a shared love of life. To celebrate each of our guests, we did 150 personalized handwritten letters from Mac and me, reflecting on our relationship with them and what their presence meant to us. It was an incredibly moving moment when they all opened them simultaneously, which set the tone for the rest of the weekend. We were very strict on plus-ones, as we wanted to personally know every single person at our wedding to really keep this warm feeling instead of making it a social event.
Every visual detail was created by my dear friend Johanna Smadja (Chachki Studio), and it became one of my favorite aspects of the entire wedding. We poured so much thought into every element—from cocktail menus named after our friends to illustrated dinner menus featuring meaningful objects from our lives together. Even our wedding website included a custom animation of our families as little characters traveling through Italy, set to the soundtrack of a traditional tarantella. Those thoughtful, personal touches made the celebration feel real and family style, which was the goal.
Throughout the weekend, we wanted to avoid overly grand floral installations and instead create something that felt true to us—chic, elegant, and warm.
For the welcome dinner, we focused on beautiful local Sicilian ceramics in a soft blue-and-white palette, accented with delicate pastel florals. We chose one long imperial table for all 150 guests, which created such an intimate atmosphere despite the size of the celebration. For the wedding dinner, we shifted to a rich Bordeaux color palette. Two long tables were dressed with a floral runner, creating a perfect match with a rustic setting and romantic mood.
What was a very special element of your wedding weekend?
Music was another element we cared deeply about because every song marked a meaningful chapter of the celebration. For our welcome dinner, a live band played classic Italian songs that immediately immersed everyone in the spirit of Sicily. Our families and Mac, with Olympia, walked down the aisle to “C’mon” by Brian Eno and Fred Again.., while our cake cutting and fireworks were accompanied by “Outro Lugar” by Salomé de Bahia. For the after-party, our close friends Ali Nassiri and Nika Kubrak DJed, creating a set that felt so us, and we danced all the way until 4 am (we could go longer, but that was not legal anymore).
Advice from the couple:
• Most important for us was not to get swept away by schedules, logistics, outfit changes, and all the moving parts that come with a wedding – the entire point of this moment is to have fun and celebrate your unit along with your family and friends. We kept reminding ourselves that this weekend will pass in a second, and at the end of the day it won’t be about anyone, but about the two of us sharing this beautiful moment.
