Alie and Zach, two advertising professionals, first met at a Celtics game due to their roles in the industry—Alie working for an ad agency representing Ford, and Zach at NBC Universal involved with sports marketing. Their relationship evolved from a chance encounter into a profound partnership. Zach proposed at the Liberty Hotel in Boston – one of her favorite places in the city. “When we returned home, our apartment was decorated and filled with friends and family ready to celebrate our engagement—the best surprise!” Alie recalled.
Choosing Hilton Boston Park Plaza as their venue, the couple envisioned a winter-themed wedding that required no plan B for weather, given New England’s unpredictability. Their desired theme of ‘elegant chic romantic, moody classic glam’ came alive through a sophisticated color palette enriched with gold accents and abundant candlelight, creating a warm, inviting ambiance.
Alie spent her morning surrounded by her friends and family. For the day, she chose a custom Monique Lhuillier gown adorned with pearl buttons and tailored sleeves, embodying timeless elegance, while Zach dressed in a custom tuxedo with black velvet lapels, subtly personalized with their initials and wedding date inside.
Their first look was a touching moment, setting the stage for the heartfelt day ahead. Sarah and Peter from City Lux Studios skillfully captured every moment, from the intimate first look on the terrace to the grand architecture at the front of the hotel. Their photography not only preserved the moments but also highlighted the couple’s joy and the venue’s grandeur, creating a visual narrative of the day. The photographers’ black and white photos perfectly encapsulated the couple’s vision for a glamorous wedding, adding a timeless elegance to their New Year’s Eve celebration in Boston.
The ceremony took place in the hotel’s smaller ballroom, a space that mirrored the grand aesthetics of the main ballroom, creating a seamless visual experience. Alie and Zach exchanged vows they had personally written, surrounded by the soft glow of candlelight and elegant floral arrangements, crafting a deeply personal and memorable setting.
Following the ceremony, Alie and Zach enjoyed a private walk under the enchanting winter night sky. The city lights cast a magical glow, adding a romantic ambiance as they strolled through Boston’s streets, reveling in the new chapter of their lives.
The reception featured a mix of long and round tables, each set uniquely to reflect the night’s moody and glamorous theme with black and golden colors. The decor included lush dark green Italian ruscus, with pops of black from anemones and calla lilies, and a myriad of candles that enhanced the romantic and elegant atmosphere.
At the reception dinner in the hotel’s ballroom, guests enjoyed an evening filled with traditional celebrations. The night began with the couple’s first dance, followed by heartfelt dances with their parents. Toasts from close friends and family added warmth and laughter to the atmosphere. A saxophonist played soothing tunes, enhancing the elegant setting. One of the highlights was the champagne tower, a dazzling spectacle that led up to the cake-cutting. The wedding cake was an exquisite multi-tiered creation, adorned with elegant piping and delicate designs that captured the essence of the evening’s grandeur.
As the clock struck midnight, the celebration shifted to welcome the New Year. Confetti burst into the air, enveloping Alie and Zach in a shower of gold as they shared a kiss, marking the beginning of their new life together. The DJ ramped up the energy with lively music that got everyone onto the dance floor. This moment wasn’t just about ringing in the New Year; it was a joyous start to Alie and Zach’s journey together, celebrated with vibrancy and a sense of new beginnings.
Advice from the couple:
• I highly recommend a New Year’s Eve wedding—everyone was so excited to attend and get dressed up, and the midnight moment is really special!
• If you do consider a NYE wedding, set your goals and timelines earlier than you normally would so you can enjoy the holidays before the big day!
