Setting: Chic City Restaurant

Rachel, a bridal stylist, and Joseph, a business owner met in 2021 with no expectations. After a simple swipe on a dating app, Joseph invited Rachel to dinner, and their connection was immediate. “Three hours later, we both knew this was just the beginning of something special.

Two years later, Joseph planned a grand proposal but ended up making it intimate and perfect for them. On a quiet Sunday evening, as they relaxed on the couch, waiting for pizza, Joseph surprised Rachel with a ring. “I felt like I was so unsure of what was happening but totally aware at the same time; like a dream,” Rachel says.

The Vision & Photography

Their wedding journey began with a broad vision, but countless questions and decisions led them down a winding path. From the type of ceremony to whether a church or a single venue for both ceremony and reception made sense, the choices felt endless. Venue selection quickly became their biggest challenge. After much searching, they found Lindsey’s Chapel, a stunning European-style venue on Newbury Street in Boston’s posh shopping district.
The next step was easy: the reception had to match its elegance. They celebrated their love at Coquette, a chic Boston restaurant, perfectly embodying Joseph and Rachel’s dream wedding.

Joseph and Rachel’s wedding day was captured flawlessly by the talented photographers and videographers at CityLux Studio, whose vision for detail brought every moment to life. From the stunning portraits to candid moments, the team knew exactly how to make each photo feel chic, timeless, and effortlessly beautiful. Their attention to every detail, from lighting to composition, ensured that each image was a work of art.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

Rachel woke up around 6 am on the morning of her wedding, knowing the weather wouldn’t be nice that day. But as she watched the sunrise, it was clear the day had something beautiful in store. “It was probably one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen,” Rachel said, gazing out over the Boston Public Garden as the city came to life. At that moment, she felt a sense of peace and gratitude—a quiet reflection before the excitement of the day began.

As the hours passed and she prepared for the big moment, that calm energy lingered. After her hair and makeup were finished and she stepped into her gown, a surge of confidence took over. “I have never felt so beautifully empowered inside and out, all while feeling like myself,” she reflected. She felt stunning in her Amsale “Rosemary” gown, with Badgley Mischka shoes and Rosemori earrings, and was ready to step into her new chapter. “I hope every bride feels this way on her special day.”

Groom's Fashion

Joseph’s wedding look was all about a clean, sharp, and classic look, perfectly reflecting his desire for something timeless. He looked impeccable in his Hive & Colony tuxedo, bow tie, and cufflinks, with the finishing touches provided by The Flower Bar’s boutonniere and Boss shoes.

Ceremony

The couple knew they had found the perfect venue when they chose Lindsey Chapel at Emmanuel Church in Boston. After researching past weddings held there, they came across one photo: a darkened chapel, with the bride and groom at the altar, surrounded by candles. “We were sold after seeing that.” The chapel’s narrow, English historic style spoke for itself, and all they needed was to be enveloped in flickering candlelight, surrounded by their loved ones.

As the string quartet filled the room with angelic music, the space felt grand and cozy. The chapel’s intimate, narrow layout made walking down the aisle feel incredibly personal. The couple chose to read their own vows, a special moment since some of their guests were meeting them together for the first time. “We felt it was important and special for them to hear our love.”

"The church ceremony was the most memorable moment, especially when the chapel doors opened for me and my father. But Joseph was standing there waiting for me, more emotional than I could ever imagine. He said his favorite moment was watching me walk down the aisle, which is so sweet”

After the ceremony, they had a beautiful bubble send-off, the perfect touch to end a day that, despite the cloudy and cold weather, felt magical.

Moment Alone

Despite the rain, the newlyweds embraced the moment, as CityLux Studios beautifully captured their love story through a romantic and editorial vision. The team expertly turned the wet weather into an opportunity, creating breathtaking shots that felt both romantic and timeless.

As the rain fell, their connection shone through, making for a truly unforgettable photoshoot.

The Location & Decor

The couple had dined at Coquette before, and when it came time to choose a venue, they were blown away by how the space itself had transformed into their vision. “Coquette’s thoughtful interior decor brought our vision to life,” they shared. With its vibrant pink wallpapers, bold artwork, and modern-chic style, It perfectly blended elegance and contemporary flair, setting the stage for a stunning Boston city wedding. The only additions were more flowers, plenty of candles by their planners at CityLux Events and the florists, and a few personal touches to make it uniquely theirs.

Coquette also had a few large paintings around the restaurant, and the CityLux Events team added a special touch by enlarging a couple of the couple’s engagement photos and placing them in the frames. “We, and our guests, were speechless!” they recalled. “It was the perfect touch.”

“We didn’t want it to feel like a restaurant,” they explained. The focus shifted to table placement and decor. White roses complemented the existing pastel accents, and candles used in the chapel ceremony filled the tables with an inviting, warm glow. A special “guest phone” was placed near the bar, where loved ones could leave messages or wedding wishes. As a fun, memorable touch, two caricature artists painted portraits of the guests, offering them a unique souvenir to take home.

The Celebration

The newlyweds shared a special moment on the dance floor to “Til I’m Ninety Nine” by Nathan Angelo, surprising their guests with some unexpected moves. “We didn’t have a wedding party, so my father gave a heartfelt toast,” the bride shared.

The cake by J Cakes, a stunning four-tier masterpiece, was pure elegance with cascading white roses draping from top to bottom. Each tier featured a different flavor, creating a beautiful blend of both taste and design that left everyone in awe. “It was unbelievable, both in look and taste,” they added, highlighting the perfect end to a perfect night.

The night was amazing, filled with laughter, love, and endless fun. The DJ played an eclectic mix of music, making sure there was something for everyone to enjoy, while a saxophone player set the perfect vibe, encouraging guests to hit the dance floor. The energy was contagious, with everyone dancing the night away and making memories that would last a lifetime.

Post-Wedding Photoshoot

Rachel and Joseph dressed up again a few days after the wedding to capture some incredible moments. Their vision was to feature a luxury black speedboat and a sleek black Porsche, and CityLux Studios truly brought that vision to life with stunning photos.

"Doing it after let us be much more relaxed and have a few hours without all the rush and people involved in the wedding day. It was a perfect way to get all the images we wanted.”

Tips From The Planner

A posh restaurant is the perfect place for a wedding. It was already well-designed and had everything the couple needed. You also know the food will be great at a restaurant with a prime menu and lots of experienced staff. If you are looking for a City Chic Wedding vibe, a nice restaurant or bar in the city could be what you need for your vision.

When thinking about lots of candles for a ceremony, consider who is setting them up and breaking them down, the size of the candles, and how long it will take to light them all. Also, if you have narrow aisles, be aware of the size of the wedding dress and how much room 2 people walking side by side will need. We opted for more candles behind the couple on the altar and less in the aisles because it would have been too tight and risked knocking them over.

Advice from the couple:

You spend almost every day for about a year planning your wedding, and everyone says the day goes by fast. They’re not lying. Try your best to slow down on your wedding day. Leave your phone in the room. Dance a little harder. Hug a guest who flew in a little longer. Just live in every fleeting moment because it does fly.

Also! A little side advice that sounds silly, but it’s worth it. When you have a moment at your ceremony, just look out at everybody who came for you. We took a quick second to glance over at all of our friends and family, and it was a really nice moment of appreciation.
