Jun and Shia first met in high school back in 2012 and became close friends before their relationship turned romantic in late 2015 during college. At the time, Jun was serving in NS while Shia was preparing to study in the U.S., but the thought of long distance didn’t scare them. “We both hung out a lot as friends, and naturally, with so much time spent together, we slowly started to question if what we felt with each other was more than just platonic,” Shia said. Once Jun asked her out, everything clicked, and eight years later, they were ready to begin a new chapter together.
Bridal Morning
Shia started her morning getting ready with a calm, focused energy. Her hair was styled into a neat low bun, paired with soft, natural makeup that let her features shine. She wore a strapless ivory dress from Rita Vinieris, sourced through Bisou Bridal, which featured a clean silhouette that hugged her figure and flared gently into a train. A sheer veil from The Ivory, finished with floral appliqués, added a delicate touch as it floated behind her.
Her bouquet, created by Hello From Flour, brought together white orchids, pale yellow calla lilies, and her favorite—blue hydrangeas. The mix of textures and tones reflected Shia’s love for soft, garden-inspired arrangements. Holding the bouquet, Shia looked effortlessly graceful as she stepped into her day.
First Look
Jun and Shia chose to do their first look privately, and it became one of the most emotional moments of the day. As Shia approached, bouquet in hand and veil trailing behind her, Jun turned to see her and immediately cried—something she hadn’t expected. The quiet setting gave them a rare pause in the day, a space to take each other in before the celebrations began. After that, their wedding party joined them for joyful photos.
Jun wore a deep navy suit from Joe’s Tailoring, paired with a white shirt, a black bow tie, and a boutonnière of pale blooms. His polished black shoes completed the sharp, classic look. Bridesmaids wore dresses from Soecah Bridesmaid in a mix of silhouettes, creating a soft, elegant palette for the garden ceremony. The groomsmen, dressed in dark suits, matched Jun’s formal style and added balance to the bright, floral atmosphere.
"My husband cried when he first saw me, and I really did not expect that. I am so glad we chose to do the first look privately."

Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the garden at Capella Singapore, where a custom timber platform led to the foot of a majestic tree that served as a memorable backdrop. Instead of a traditional flower arch, Shia chose to highlight the tree itself, embracing its textured bark and organic presence.
Clusters of pastel-toned florals, designed by Hello From Flour, grew around its roots—featuring blush and coral roses, ivory orchids, and soft blue accents. Lush arrangements of wildflowers and greenery lined the aisle on both sides, creating a meadow-like effect that felt calm and unforced. Wooden chairs added a warm contrast to the soft colors, blending seamlessly into the natural setting.
As guests took their seats, two flower girls led the way down the aisle, scattering petals before Shia’s entrance. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation under the open sky. The newlyweds’ vows felt both intimate and joyful, set against the sounds of nature and the soft cheers of family and friends. The ceremony captured exactly what Shia had envisioned: a dreamy garden celebration rooted in simplicity and love.
"What a moment it was, surrounded by love and support, knowing that everyone was excited for us to embark on a life journey that transcends our individual selves. From this day forth, they were recognizing us as one."
Jun & Shia, the couple
From the quiet moments during the tea ceremony to the emotional first look and vibrant reception, the photographer Maritha Mae captured the wedding day with a thoughtful, artistic approach. Her calm energy and clear direction helped Jun and Shia feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. “Maritha is an incredibly warm and sweet person—she took the time to truly understand us, making it easy and comfortable to connect.” Shia shared.
Tea Ceremony
Jun and Shia continued their wedding day with a traditional tea ceremony, held in a cozy indoor setting adorned with florals and a bold red double happiness symbol. Shia wore a pale blue qipao with silver embroidery, while Jun matched her in a deep blue changshan. They served tea in delicate red-and-white porcelain to honor their families, surrounded by flowers in warm autumn tones. The moment felt intimate and rooted in tradition, setting a meaningful tone before the festivities began.
Reception
The reception took place indoors, where the ballroom was transformed into a lush, garden-inspired space. Tall potted trees filled the room, their branches reaching toward the ceiling and casting soft shadows over the tables. Long banquet tables were dressed in white linens and adorned with pale blue hydrangeas, white orchids, and delicate sprays of cream blossoms. Lemons and grapes were scattered between the floral arrangements, adding a pop of color and a playful, organic touch that echoed Shia’s love for bright and cheerful settings. Every place setting was detailed with white china, silver cutlery, and soft blue ribbon-tied menus.
Dinner was served in multiple courses as guests sat beneath the dappled light filtering through greenery. Small white candles flickered along the tables, while soft live music by Vivienne Wong Singalong added warmth to the room.
In the center stood a towering five-tier white cake, finished with sugar peonies and delicate petals. Atop the cake, two custom figurines of Jun and Shia stood smiling. During the cake-cutting, the couple laughed and posed as guests clapped and cheered—a lighthearted moment that brought everyone closer together.
Their first dance was filled with energy and emotion as they moved confidently across the floor, surrounded by the sound of applause and the faces of loved ones. The evening flowed with music, conversations, and heartfelt toasts. Shia changed into a shimmering second gown from Neta BenShabu, selected from The Ivory, while Jun switched into a light gray three-piece suit. As the night came to a close, the couple stood hand in hand under the glowing canopy of trees, soaking in the final moments of a celebration they had spent a year building together.
"Maritha went above and beyond, capturing moments we hadn't even planned for, and the results were beyond my expectations. Both my husband and I couldn't be happier with her photos."

Advice from the couple:
• As much as brides might stress before the actual day, I think it’s important to just be in the moment and, even if things don’t go perfectly, embrace it.
