A Colorful Celebration Under an Old Oak Tree in Miami

Featured Members

Beneath the canopy of a centuries-old oak tree and the soft sparkle of string lights, Brooke and Jack brought their joyful love story to life at Villa Woodbine in Miami. Their wedding weekend was intimate, heartfelt, and beautifully crafted with personal touches. Every detail, from the stationery to the floral palette, was carefully considered—and thanks to the masterful lens of Spatz Film, their day was captured with warmth, sensitivity, and so much soul.

Location: Miami, Florida, United States
Style: Romantic, Colorful, Elegant
Time of planning: 14 months
Number of guests: 115
Setting: Villa
Season: Fall

Brooke and Jack’s journey began on opposite coasts—and continents. Their first encounter took place in the New York office of the company they both worked for when Jack was visiting from San Francisco and Brooke had just returned from a trip to London. The timing felt serendipitous. They met early one morning over a simple cup of tea, a gesture that would soon become a metaphor for their relationship: thoughtful, cozy, and deeply grounding.

After that first connection, Jack and Brooke quickly became inseparable. Their relationship unfolded across cities and continents, with long-distance visits turning into a shared life in London’s Islington. Jack eventually flew to Aspen to surprise Brooke with a proposal during a family visit—a fitting milestone for a couple whose story began in motion

Tropical Welcome

The night before the wedding, guests gathered at a lush private residence in Miami for a festive welcome dinner. The setting embraced the tropical surroundings, with wooden pergolas draped in white florals and paper lanterns. Brooke wore an airy embroidered dress by Elie Saab and her mother’s jewelry, looking radiant and relaxed beside Jack in his crisp look from Wax London.

The overall mood felt relaxed yet elevated. Guests sipped cocktails by the pool, laughed under the stars, and shared toasts surrounded by flowers and flickering candlelight. Tables overflowed with fresh fruit, vibrant desserts, and an inviting spread.

Getting Ready

Brooke prepared in the tranquil courtyard of the villa, framed by swaying palms and dappled sunlight. Her bridal look was classic and perfectly laid-back chic: a sculptural Monique Lhuillier gown with a full skirt, subtle pockets, and an emotional detail hidden inside—a blue cashmere heart, stitched from her late grandfather’s sweater, embroidered with his initials. Her jewelry carried deep family significance, too: pearl drop earrings passed down through three generations of women.

Hair and makeup echoed Brooke’s desire to look like herself, polished and natural, with Yasmin and Junkie Bride on makeup and Julie White on hair. Her chosen fragrance, Dandelion by Perfumer H, was a gift from Jack for her birthday.

Jack’s look captured the spirit of old-school Miami elegance: a cream dinner jacket by Richard James paired with tailored black trousers, classic accessories from Pink Shirtmaker, and sleek shoes by Loake. His fragrance of choice, Aesop’s Hwyl, brought a smoky, grounding element to his style.

First Look

Before the ceremony, the couple shared a quiet first look, tucked among the villa’s lush gardens. It was a deeply emotional moment—and a meaningful choice that gave them more time to be with their guests later on, connecting with loved ones and soaking in every part of the celebration together.

The moment was exquisitely captured by Spatz Film, whose artistry shines in both storytelling and subtle observation. The way Tim Spatz documents a first look is never staged or overstated—he lets the moment breathe, capturing the stillness between heartbeats, the emotion in a shared glance. It’s this intuition that gives his work a cinematic quality, full of honesty and quiet beauty.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the villa’s garden under a majestic oak tree draped with glowing string lights. At its center stood a breathtaking chuppah designed by Julia Rohde Designs. A soft cascade of color ran from vibrant coral and fuchsia blooms to pale lilac and dusty blue, artfully arranged to feel both romantic and modern. The couple wanted something that felt light and sculptural—not too dense—allowing the tree and garden to speak for themselves.

Brooke walked down the aisle to a string quartet’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” arm in arm with her father. The couple exchanged vows beneath the chuppah, officiated by Brooke’s uncle, with close family and friends seated in candlelit rows. The bridal party was intentionally small: Brooke’s sisters, Casey and Drew, stood beside her, wearing soft floral tones, while Jack’s sister Millie and his best man Rory stood with him.

The whole ceremony felt alive with color and light—a garden dream infused with heritage and heart. Every detail, from the way the light caught the florals to the layout of the space, was beautifully captured by Evan Rich, whose photographs told the story with softness and clarity.

Reception & Decor

The reception flowed through the villa’s courtyard and back garden, with a mix of long and round tables that created an inviting and dynamic layout. Neutral linens and soft green glassware set a fresh tone, while floral centerpieces added vivid pops of color without overwhelming the space. The arrangements—featuring ranunculus, poppies, garden roses, and sweetpeas in saturated tones of peach, blush, raspberry, and lavender—were thoughtfully kept low to keep the energy open and conversational.

Brooke and Jack’s first dance to Sister Sledge’s “Thinking of You” kicked off the evening with sparkle and soul. From there, the energy kept building—music, dancing, and laughter spilling from room to room. There was a disco ball, a candy bar filled with nostalgic sweets from both the US and UK, and a vibrant energy that carried through every moment.

Later in the evening, the couple cut into a three-tiered cake by Earth and Sugar, adorned with cascading fresh blooms in pink, orange, and lavender. The moment felt celebratory and intimate, with guests gathering around to cheer as they shared the first slice. It was one of those small but sweet rituals that added another layer of joy to the night.

Brooke changed into a playful afterparty look from Rosie Etienne—a short, floral-appliqué mini dress that allowed her to dance with ease. Guests formed circles around the couple, sang, laughed, and danced late into the night. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with beauty, connection, and celebration.

Advice from the couple:

Spend as much of the night together as possible so you have the same memories and really get to celebrate your love.
