Captured by Paolo Salvadori, the wedding of Jasmine and Giovanni Nicolò shows how classic structure and modern ease can coexist naturally. The day began inside the historic cathedral in Cagliari and ended by the sea, where guests danced under a summer rain. Planned by Chiara Viarisio, the wedding reflected a refined form of joy, rooted in tradition yet open to spontaneity. It’s the kind of celebration that defines 2025’s approach to destination weddings: personal, effortless, and grounded in place rather than perfection.
Location: Sardinia, Italy
Style: Classic, Fun, Minimalistic
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 120
Setting: Church and Coast
Season: Fall
Jasmine and Giovanni met in Washington, D.C., at the height of the pandemic. It was a self-proclaimed “Gen Z encounter” on Hinge, though both are, as they joke, true millennials. Their first date stretched into five hours of conversation, the kind where the waiter has to gently remind you the restaurant is closing. “And the rest,” they say, “is history.”
Three years later, on a summer night in Sardinia, they watched the same shooting star cross the sky, and Giovanni proposed under it. It was the evening of San Lorenzo, a night known in Italy for wishes made on falling stars.
Vision of the Celebration
For the couple, this wedding was never about spectacle. The design was intentionally subtle, built on natural tones that let the setting speak for itself. “We wanted the colors to complement, not compete,” Jasmine shared in her notes. At its core, Classic Fun wasn’t just a theme; it was a mindset. Jasmine and Giovanni wanted elegance without excess, joy without performance. It’s an approach increasingly embraced by modern couples, seeking lightness, authenticity, and experiences that feel lived rather than staged.
Planner Chiara Viarisio shaped the day around that duality of sacred and natural, grand and effortless. Sardinia itself played a leading role. The island’s character, with its marble facades, limestone walls, and abundance of natural light, brought both structure and warmth to every frame. The region has become a rising destination for weddings that balance heritage with ease. The the end the celebration felt distinctly Mediterranean: rooted, sensory, and real.
Bride's Morning & Fashion
The morning unfolded quietly, in a room filled with natural light and calm anticipation. On the table, a pair of pearl drop earrings, crystal-embellished heels by Something Bleu, a delicate lace garter, and a bouquet of white garden roses by Valentina Tanda Flo were already waiting for bride.
Jasmine’s beauty look by Adjoa’s Paradise drew on softness and structure. The skin was luminous with a satin finish, eyes gently defined, lips in a natural rose tone, so nothing distracted from her expression. The effect was polished yet completely alive, the kind of glow that feels effortless rather than styled.
Her hair was gathered into refined natural twists at the back of her head, an elegant and authentic choice that framed her face beautifully beneath the lace-edged veil.
Her gown by Galia Lahav reflected the brand’s couture direction: pre-Raphaelite influence, sculpted lace, and a silhouette that balanced strength and grace. The off-shoulder neckline, long sleeves, and architectural corsetry framed her with effortless composure.
Groom's Fashion
In the next room, anticipation had a different tempo. Between preparations and bursts of laughter, even bubbles made an appearance. The atmosphere was more “crew energy” than formality, the kind of morning that sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Giovanni chose a fully monochrome look by Zegna: a tobacco-colored suit paired with a matching shirt. The tone-on-tone styling felt current and intentional, showing how a single color can carry both confidence and ease. It’s the kind of understated risk we’re seeing more often in 2025: minimal contrast, maximum character.
A spontaneous group photo captured the essence of it perfectly: relaxed tailoring, warm light, and genuine camaraderie. That mix of style and sincerity set the tone for the day ahead.
It’s also worth noting how harmoniously the groom’s family looked together. His mother’s elegant pistachio gown, paired with the deep blue suits of his father and brother, created a palette that felt cohesive and organic next to Giovanni’s warm tobacco tones.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place inside the Cattedrale di Santa Maria di Cagliari, one of the city’s oldest landmarks, marked by Pisan and Spanish influences. Its intricate marble interiors and high arches carried both grandeur and quiet intimacy. This is a space that doesn’t need styling to impress.
The bride arrived at the cathedral in a vintage white convertible with the top down, a quiet nod to classic Italian cinema. When she entered the church, all guests and Giovanni, calm and composed until then, couldn’t hide his reaction.
Guests had come from all over the world: Italy, the United States, the Caribbean, and beyond. The mix of cultures turned the ceremony into something more than symbolic. It felt global, but deeply personal. Their vows were read in both English and Italian, a gesture that bridged two families, two continents, and two ways of seeing the world.
There was no spectacle, no staging, just collective presence. It was the kind of moment that defines 2025’s shift toward heritage minimalism: honoring the weight of tradition while letting authenticity lead.
The floral palette by Valentina Tanda Flo stayed soft and tonal. Fans and parasols became thoughtful gestures for guests under the Sardinian sun. After the ceremony, those same pieces instantly came to use, adding a touch of charm to the scene as everyone stepped outside.

As newlyweds exited the cathedral, the sky shifted and a light rain began to fall — the kind of rain Italians call a blessing. It was spontaneous, cinematic, and exactly in the spirit of Jasmine and Giovanni’s day: tradition softened by joy, reverence met with warmth.
Cocktail Hour
After the ceremony, guests made their way to La Paillote, a coastal venue tucked between cliffs and sea. The transition from marble to salt air felt natural, as a shift from reverence to ease.
The setting itself did most of the work: parasols, native greenery, and the raw texture of the coast. There was no rush to dinner; the evening stretched gently, letting people settle into the rhythm of the sea. The formal beauty of the cathedral now replaced by something simpler, but equally memorable.
The cocktail hour unfolded on the terrace overlooking the water, where conversations mixed with the sound of waves and soft music. Trays moved through the crowd with Sardinian-inspired bites and citrus cocktails, each served with quiet precision. Children ran between the tables, guests lingered by the edge, and the light took on that muted tone the island is known for: warm yet diffused.
Reception & Decor
Dinner took place under the soft lights, where the design echoed the island’s calm rhythm. Valentina Tanda Flo worked in restrained layers: white roses, gypsophila, and ivory textiles that matched the tone of the sand and limestone cliffs outside. The result felt cohesive, never styled for effect.
As the evening unfolded by the sea, the celebration shifted from refinement to rhythm. Jasmine changed into a second dress: a minimalist ivory piece with a square neckline and crisp corset structure. It carried the same precision as her ceremony gown, but in a lighter form: modern, unfussy, and made for movement.
The cake with cream and fresh berries replaced the traditional tiered design, fitting perfectly into the couple’s idea of “classic fun.” There were no staged moments, just genuine ones: the two of them cutting the cake, laughing, glasses raised, while the music started to build in the background.
Dinner flowed into toasts and laughter under the canopy lights. The menu highlighted Sardinian flavors, paired with crisp local wines. It wasn’t a formal sequence of courses, but more a slow conversation stretched over time, with the sound of waves filling the pauses.
By the time they stepped out for a quiet moment near the rocks, the night had turned cinematic, simple, real, and beautifully observed through the lens of Paolo Salvadori.
“We are so grateful to have had Paolo Salvadori as our photographer for our destination wedding in Italy,” Jasmine and Giovanni shared. “Paolo was incredibly organized, talented, and detail-oriented — he made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. His photos are absolutely stunning and truly captured the heart of our day. Beyond his skill, Paolo brought a calm, positive energy that made us and our guests feel completely at ease.”
Advice from the couple:
• Always stay true to yourselves and your preferences. There will be countless wedding blogs, planners, family members and friends with wedding suggestions and ideas so make sure that whatever you ultimately chose for your special wedding day is a true reflection of your style and vision. If you do that, you’ll be happy as a clam afterwards.
