Some places inspire through their beauty. And some places challenge you to imagine something that doesn’t yet exist. Stepping into The Yeatman for the first time, that second feeling is exactly what struck Vanessa of Aurelle Events.
The inspiration took shape during that first visit. Watching the architecture, the views over Porto, and the sophisticated atmosphere of the property, she realized The Yeatman carried an almost cinematic elegance. Instead of following a classic interpretation of the venue, she wanted to reveal an unexpected side of it, respecting the hotel’s identity without letting it define the whole vision.
Vision & Inspiration
The hotel is an icon of Porto, elegant, classic, and deeply connected to wine, history, and tradition. Maybe that’s exactly why the planners felt compelled to look at it differently. They didn’t want anything predictable or a reproduction of what had already been done a hundred times before. They wanted to find a new narrative for a place so many people already think they know.
"That was when I thought of Gatsby. Not simply because of the aesthetic, the glamour, or the parties. But because of the intensity. The obsession with love. The beauty of impossible dreams."
Fashion
Each setting inside the hotel represents a moment in that narrative. The Presidential Suite, the staircases, the cake inspired by the tea scene in the film where the two reunite, a table set for two, the party, and finally the pool, where the story ends in a completely different way from the one everyone already knows. Every setting carries its own look.
The bridal looks were exactly on point throughout, gowns by Milla Nova via Amour Glamour moving through every setting with the same cinematic ease as the hotel itself. Raquel Batalha handled hair and makeup, keeping each look consistent with the mood of the scene it belonged to.
The groom’s looks didn’t disappoint either. Several outfits carried the story forward: a white suit with an open collar for the softer scenes, and a black suit finished with an unexpected pepper boutonniere that made the whole look feel sharper and more distinct.
When Love Is Allowed to Remain
At its heart, this editorial is about desire, hope, human connection, and the courage to imagine a different ending. Aurelle Events wanted to create a visual experience that moved like a film, a story told through different chapters: the anticipation, the reunion, the intimacy, the celebration, the freedom. Conta-me Como Foi and Sirklau Films brought that vision to life through both the photography and the film.
Fireworks by Joker Artifices closed things out, lighting up the daylight sky above the pool.
When Red Takes Over
The reception took place indoors, where red took center stage. Época Florist built the florals around that same intensity, deep red blooms woven through the tables and set against the room’s warmer light, echoing the passion and drama running through the whole editorial.
The color carried through every corner of the space, tying the celebration back to the emotional weight of the story being told.
A Cake Worth the Wait
The cake by Edelweiss Wedding Cakes was one of the final chapters, layered, delicate, and clearly delicious, a design that carried the same story as everything else: love, taken to its most celebratory point.
Where Saudade Becomes Celebration
Only this time, the team wanted to change the ending. Instead of recreating the original story, they imagined a universe where Gatsby and Daisy finally end up together, where saudade, that particular Portuguese word for missing someone or something, transforms into celebration, and love is allowed to remain.
