The Color of Love in Costa Rica

Featured Members

Tamarindo, Costa Rica, served as the breathtaking setting for this elopement-style content retreat, where the lush tropical landscape and golden coastline brought the vision to life. Hosted and coordinated by The Roam Collective Co, the shoot was curated to reflect the full essence of an elopement day beginning with flat lays and detail shots, flowing into romantic tablescapes and seaside vows. The styling leaned into the vibrancy of the region, using Costa Rica’s rich natural elements and local vendors to weave color, texture, and movement into every frame.

Captured beautifully by photographer Graciela Elena, the shoot came to life through her artistic vision and thoughtful storytelling. She documented the entire experience using a mix of digital photography, nostalgic film, and Super 8mm video. Her creative perspective brought depth to the story, blending editorial elegance with the organic charm of the beachside villa setting. Quiet getting-ready moments transitioned seamlessly into windswept ceremony portraits by the shore, each shot sun-drenched and heartfelt – perfectly embodying the magic of saying “I do” in paradise.

Just the Two of Us

The best way to begin the day in a place as picturesque as Tamarindo was to head straight to the beach. With golden sun, crashing waves, and undeniable romance, everything came together beautifully in this styled shoot.

Before changing into their wedding attire, the couple took a quiet moment to enjoy the morning together – barefoot on the beach, surrounded by swaying palms and ocean breeze. It was a calm, joyful pause that set the tone for the rest of the day.

Fashion

The bride wore a gown from the LVD Bridal x Sarah Seven collection – elegant, minimal, and thoughtfully chosen to let the vibrant Costa Rican setting and lush florals shine.

One of the most special elements of the shoot was that the model, Jessica, who is also a professional makeup artist. She did her own hair and makeup for the day, bringing a natural, personal touch to the preparation moments. Capturing her as she got ready added a layer of authenticity and intimacy that beautifully complemented the elopement story. The overall look was effortlessly stunning – timeless, radiant, and perfectly in harmony with the tropical surroundings.

The look was elevated by a vibrant bouquet from Los Primos Designs, which added a bold pop of color that played beautifully against the natural tones of the tropical setting. The stationery by Design by Bri perfectly suited the day’s aesthetic, wonderfully reflecting the romantic, laid-back energy of the elopement.

Between Palms and Promises

The location and the florals were truly the main attraction of this styled elopement shoot, as the hosts leaned fully into bold, vibrant floral styling. The local florist, Los Primos Designs, drew inspiration from traditional Costa Rican elements, using palms, pinks, oranges, and sun-soaked yellows to bring the scene to life. The ceremony space, set outdoors beneath swaying palms and lush trees, was nothing short of breathtaking.

Graciela Elena Photography captured it all with remarkable precision and artistry. Her ability to preserve the rich colors and emotional tone of the day ensured the story was told in a way that felt both cinematic and deeply personal.

Like a Scene from a Dream

The decor and tablescape were the result of a thoughtful collaboration between the hosts and a talented local vendor. Their shared vision brought together rich textures, warm tropical tones, and organic elements that beautifully complemented the surroundings.

Paradise Framed in Light

The couple enjoyed the sunset while walking barefoot on the warm, sandy shores of the picturesque coastline, wrapped in the soft, golden glow of dusk. Their quiet moments together felt deeply intimate and reflective of the elopement’s serene energy. The photographer shared that during this shoot, she intentionally leaned into a film-heavy approach. While digital was still part of her toolkit, she found herself reaching more often for her film camera—embracing the texture, depth, and timeless quality it brought to the story unfolding in front of her.

"It was really important for me to step out of my comfort zone during this styled shoot and ensure that I am being intentional with my shots and allowing myself to slow down while prioritizing film."
