Love, Rain, and Chic on London Streets

A stylish London elopement with bohemian details, sculptural fashion, and the energy of young love — this editorial by Weds in May reimagines what a civil wedding can feel like. From slow morning moments to a sleek ceremony arrival and a fashion-forward reception look, it captures the spirit of modern romance in the heart of the city.

Chic, Young, and City-Centered

The concept behind the shoot was to show how a civil wedding in London can feel both stylish and intimate — something modern, chic, and full of personality. “We wanted to show what a stylish civil wedding in London could look like,” shared Kate from Weds in May. From the relaxed morning prep to a sculptural dress for the ceremony and a sleek evening look, the idea was to inspire couples who want something city-based but still meaningful and fashion-forward. With no traditional timeline or formal structure, the focus stayed on style, mood, and connection.

Morning Moments Together

The shoot began with slow, intimate scenes inside a soft-lit London suite. With the city outside the window, the couple moved through their morning in a way that felt youthful, personal, and calm.

The bride wore a silk dress with an elegant drape, layered under a floor-length robe trimmed with feathers. She leaned into the mirror for final touches, laughed into a phone call — every movement unhurried, every frame showing ease and connection.

The setting was styled to look lived-in and real. Their room glowed with warm light, books stacked on the bedside, a glass of whiskey in the groom’s hand — it felt like a wedding morning without pressure.

The two helped each other get ready, tied ties, played with a camera, and stretched out on the bed in between, radiating the ease of young love in private. “We wanted to show how relaxed and personal a wedding morning can be when it’s just the two of you,” said Kate from Weds in May.

“There’s a kind of magic when there’s no rush, no crowd, just time together before everything begins.”

“More and more, I see brides who aren’t interested in the traditional idea of a “wedding dress” — they love fashion and want to express that through what they wear for their special day.”

Ceremony at City Hall

For the ceremony in Town City Hall the bride wore a cream sculptural mini dress by Alaïa, a standout piece with soft fringe that moved around her like air. It was playful yet refined, bringing a high-fashion edge to the day. “It instantly felt like the kind of piece a modern bride would wear for a city elopement: bold, elegant, and unmistakably fashion-forward,” commented the stylist Nicole Amarise.

Her hair was styled into a sleek low bun by Stacey of Triplow Beauty, adding polish to the movement of the dress. A bouquet of fresh white blooms with green accents, bought from a flower shop nearby, completed the look with ease.

“For the hair, I wanted to create something modern but interesting. Just like her dress, I wanted it to be a work of art in its own right — a somewhat juxtaposition from the free-moving texture of the dress and the clean and sculptural updo.”

The groom wore a double-breasted black suit and skinny tie — classic, minimal, and perfectly in sync with the bride’s bold style. Together, they walked from the hotel to the ceremony on a quiet Chelsea street, surrounded by brick townhouses and trailing ivy, and their striking looks stood out effortlessly against the charming backdrop.

As they stepped out of the registry office, rose petals flew around them. They stopped for photos on the stairs, where Sasha Dove captured the joy and softness between them with her signature eye for emotion and movement.

After the couple got in the back of a black cab, the bride’s head rested gently on his shoulder, her fingers still curled around the stems. This moment felt intimate and cinematic, the kind of scene that could have come from a film, only this one was real. “It was important to us to show that even the simplest city ceremony can be stylish and emotional,” said the planner.

Reception & Evening Strolls

For the evening, the bride slipped into a second look — a strapless ivory dress by The Row, styled simply with a string of pearls and loose waves. It had a clean, modern silhouette that softened the day into something more intimate.

“There’s such an exciting shift happening where ready-to-wear and luxury fashion houses are stepping into the bridal space — we’re seeing it with brands like Magda Butrym, Cult Gaia, and of course The Row. Through this shoot, I wanted to reflect that evolution: a bride who gets ready in SoHo, walks into Chelsea Town Hall in Alaïa, and slips into The Row for a quiet dinner with her love — it’s intimate, stylish, and entirely her own,” explained Nicole Amarise.

The couple walked hand in hand through the white facades of West London, laughing under a shared umbrella as rain began to fall. Even the weather couldn’t dull the mood; instead, it added to the charm.

This final part of the day was slower, more reflective. There were just the two of them wrapped in each other’s presence, catching the last photos in a quiet elevator, walking through gardens, pausing in doorways, and on floral-lined sidewalks. The transition from morning to night didn’t need dramatic shifts, just an evolution of tone. A peaceful close to a day that belonged only to them.

“Even rainy London weather can’t mess with the plans – if it’s love and joy, it will only add to the day.”
