In the Baja Desert, where golden light spills across ancient rock and silence hums like a secret, a story took place. The concept was dreamt and brought to life by the event designer Marianna Idirin, whose creative eye and deep-rooted love for nature shaped every detail of this surreal, soul-stirring experience.
This wasn’t just a styled event. It was a feeling—a place where land and design met on their own terms.
A Landscape That Led the Vision
The setting wasn’t a venue—it was the land itself. Surrounded by desert textures, rolling dust, and wild silence, Marianna Idirin envisioned a space that harmonized with its natural surroundings.
“I usually ride my horse through the area,” she shares. “There’s a huge boulder we ride by often. I always thought it would be the perfect spot for an event.” And that’s exactly where this story began.
Using neutrals, ochre, and raw textures, the palette echoed the land, featuring soft whites, warm woods, dried branches, and sun-worn stone. Florals were minimal by design, allowing structure and scale to take the spotlight. Towering installations greeted guests at the entrance with custom-lit lamps, forming a sculptural hallway that felt like the start of something sacred. Floral design by Pina focused on texture over color, letting nature’s palette whisper rather than shout.
Spaces Within a Space
Creating intimacy in a wide-open canyon isn’t easy—but the planners layered the event with Bedouin-inspired tents, each curated for a different type of gathering. One held a full bar with custom cocktails for the night, others were made for lounging, storytelling, hookah sessions, and quiet moments with oracle readings before the sun dipped.

These weren’t just styled spaces. They were designed pauses—inviting guests to move, rest, and wander, never losing touch with the wild all around them.
Dinner at the Boulder
As dusk fell, the evening unfolded around the canyon’s giant boulder, now transformed into the emotional anchor of the night. The dinner setup was both grand and grounded. Projected imagery of horses, fire, and desert animals danced along the rock face, creating a hypnotic rhythm as guests enjoyed a fire performance and live Moroccan drumming. Every flicker of flame and echo of beat was part of the story.
Dinner itself was staged with intention—long tables, custom stationery by Bells + Whistles, and textures that mirrored the canyon’s quiet strength.
After Dark, After Magic
Once the stars appeared, the night transformed once again. A DJ led the afterparty inside a central tent, built atop a stone floor plateau that made the entire moment feel grounded yet elevated. Middle Eastern design met desert spirit—and for a few hours, the canyon didn’t feel like Mexico or Morocco, but some otherworldly middle place in between.
The entire evening was captured with a warm, cinematic intimacy by LA76 Photography, who caught every shadow, curve, and flicker in glowing detail.
