At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.

In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.

Meet The Couple

Morgan Killoren & Colton Horn started dating at the end of their senior year of high school and navigated long-distance throughout college, with Morgan at Indiana University and Colton at Northwestern. After graduating, they moved in together in downtown Chicago, where they spent three years building their life and welcomed a Pomeranian puppy into the mix.

About a year and a half ago, they moved to Miami, which they now call home. Morgan works at a marketing agency, The Social Shepherd, where she specializes in social media, while also pursuing modeling and micro-influencing. Colton works for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, focusing on luxury hospitality sales. They share a love for travel, amazing food, spending quality time with their family + friends, and living a healthy & active lifestyle.

How did you meet?

We are from the Chicago suburbs, where we met in middle school and have been friends since then. We were friends forever and always liked each other.

The Proposal

We took a summer trip to Greece, something we make a point to do every year by traveling outside the U.S., which felt especially full-circle since the summer before had been spent in Florence, Italy. Our Greek adventure took us through Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini, and while in Mykonos, Colton quietly planned a special evening, keeping me completely surprised the whole time. Before dinner, we went for a walk through the town near the water, and he led me to the end of a jetty surrounded by boats. There, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The ring is everything I’ve ever dreamed of, a classic pear-cut diamond with a hidden halo on a gold band. We celebrated the night with a private balcony dinner at Kastros, followed by champagne-filled calls to our family and friends back at our beautiful hotel, the Boheme in Mykonos. It was intimate, emotional, and absolutely unforgettable.

We also just hosted an engagement party to celebrate with 70 of our friends and family in Miami and Casadonna. We announced our wedding venue and date to everyone at the party, which was so special.

The Wedding Vision

1. When and where is your wedding taking place?

Villa Medicea di Lilliano in Florence, Italy—our dream date and venue in 2027. All of our wedding events, from Friday through Sunday, will take place at the villa.

2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.

Timeless, romantic, authentic.

3. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?

A beautiful setting designed to bring all of our favorite people together, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate, elevated, and full of love. A space where memories are made, laughter is shared, and every moment feels special. The Villa is literally perfect.

Incredible food and beverage inspired by Italian cuisine and our personal favorites, thoughtfully curated to encourage family-style dining, indulgence, and connection, because the best conversations always happen around the table.

Music and entertainment we truly love, setting the tone for an unforgettable night. From the first song to the last dance, the energy will be high, the dance floor will be full, and everyone will be celebrating together until the very end, and all weekend long for a Friday-Sunday weekend celebration at the Villa.

Planning Process

1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?

The biggest highlight has been being able to truly enjoy every step of the process together. Since we have a longer engagement, we haven’t felt rushed, each phase has been fun, intentional, and something we’ve experienced side by side. We share such a similar taste and vision for our wedding, so it’s been really exciting to dream, plan, and bounce ideas off each other, and then share that excitement with our family and friends along the way. Creating a timeline is key!

2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?

What surprised us most is just how much goes into planning one single day. There are so many categories and details you don’t even realize exist until you’re in it, but seeing how much care, creativity, and coordination come together to create something so meaningful makes every part of the process worth it.

3. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?

Take it all in and enjoy the process. This is a once-in-a-lifetime season and era, so have fun with it and don’t rush past the magic of it all. Surrounding yourself with people who genuinely support you and bring the best energy is so important. Take time with your partner to really embrace the journey, and it will be so meaningful and memorable.
