At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.

In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.

Meet The Couple

Abby and Jack are a California-based couple who are creatives at heart. Abby is a content creator and ceramic artist, and Jack works in brand marketing and is also a photographer. They’ve always shared a love of travel, art, and building a creative life together, and they recently spent a year and a half living in Spain before making their way back to California.

How did you meet?

Jack and I met in math class in high school almost 10 years ago, which still feels crazy to say out loud! We sat next to each other and became best friends. It feels like we’ve lived so many lives since then, together and individually, and our paths just always naturally came back to one another.

The Proposal

We got engaged in September in Provence! We had been to Provence one summer before and fell in love with its magic. After my birthday in Paris, we decided to take the train and spend more time in the region. Jack had the ring with him the whole trip and said he just waited for the right moment, which felt very us, we tend to live life moment to moment. We were on one of our last nights of the trip having champagne in the most serene garden, we set our phone up to take a video cheersing and he got down on one knee! I never pictured what I might feel like in that moment, but the last 10 years flashed before my eyes, and I couldn’t believe we were here in this moment, all grown up. It was the easiest yes. Jack snapped a few photos on his film camera after, which I will cherish forever!

The ring was made by Pamela Love. Jack was on a work trip to New York and got to see her work in person, and they customized my ring together. I love how organic, unique, and me it feels!

The Wedding Vision

1. When and where is your wedding taking place?

September 2027, in one of our favorite places in the world!

2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.

Intimate. Easeful. Golden.

3. Do you have a moodboard or a reference image you keep going back to?

I’m trying to draw my inspiration from our story, what we love, and what’s most meaningful to us! I will say I am obsessed with everything lace, vintage bridal, long dinner tables, and I love making a good pinterest board.

4. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?

A slow morning, an intimate ceremony, and one long candlelit dinner with our closest people. A golden sunset in the background would be my number 4 🙂

Planning Process

1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?

The dreaming! Dreaming up how we want it to feel, what memories we want to create, how we want to celebrate what will be over a decade of love.

2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?

I’m pretty type B… I love to take my time and be relaxed with planning, the wedding world is very type A! Trying to balance the importance of both while still doing things my way, at my own pace!

3. Is there an Instagram account, TikTok trend, or aesthetic you’re secretly loving right now?

I loved everything about Chloé Crane-Leroux’s wedding. I had the privilege of getting to spend some time getting to know her, and I love how uniquely them each aspect of her wedding felt. Ethereal, relaxed, and full of love! And as a vintage lover, I loved Grace Nicholas’ wedding, and all the nods to vintage romance and elegance.

4. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?

Try to shut out the noise and expectations of others, and get honest about what’s important for you, there should be no rules! It can be easy to get swept up in it all and overwhelmed, just keep coming back to what feels like a true and authentic celebration of your love, that intention will carry the energy for your special day.
