At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.
In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.
Meet The Couple
Scott and I (Mar) live in SoHo, New York City. He works in wealth management, and I work in social media. We love traveling, playing tennis, and spending quality time together—whether it’s a date night in the city or cooking in and relaxing at home.
How did you meet?
We met through my best friend, Leanna, who worked with Scott and thought we would be a great match. One night, she invited me to join a group from their company out for drinks in the West Village. We hit it off and ended up laughing over slices at Bleecker St. Pizza at the end of the night. A few weeks later, he took me on our first date. He quickly became everything to me.
The Proposal
Scott told me we had brunch plans with another couple in the West Village. As we were walking, he stopped in front of the beautiful ivy-covered building on the corner of Greenwich and 11th Street—right where I used to live—and got down on one knee. I was so surprised I shouted, “It’s happening!” My sister, his brother, and my best friend were secretly taking photos and surprised as soon as I said yes. We celebrated with champagne and brunch at our favorite restaurant, Anton’s, then checked into Aman for a special staycation just the two of us. It was perfect.
The Wedding Vision
1. When and where is your wedding taking place?
The Boca Raton in Boca Raton, FL (my hometown) in January 2026.
2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.
Elevated, romantic, intentional.
3. Do you have a moodboard or a reference image you keep going back to?
Yes—there’s a photo from a Jacquemus event I always come back to. The long tables, dramatic setting, and elevated styling perfectly capture the mood I’m going for. The room even reminds me of our reception venue!
Planning Process
1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?
Working closely with my mom, who has an incredible eye for design, and our wonderful, talented wedding planner, Abril Lopez at A Events. The creative process, the laughs, and everything in between have truly been the best part—and of course, the bridal fashion!
2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?
How many little details there are that you don’t think about until you’re in it—and how many opportunities there are to make it truly special.
3. Is there an Instagram account, TikTok trend, or aesthetic you’re secretly loving right now?
Lately I’ve been obsessed with sculptural floral arrangements and can’t stop saving inspiration from Louis-Géraud Castor.
4. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?
Give yourself space to explore and enjoy it. There’s so much inspiration out there, but the most meaningful choices are the ones that reflect you and your partner. It’s a beautiful opportunity to get creative and include the people you love along the way—it really makes the process even more memorable.
