At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.

In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.

Meet The Couple

Bryana & Devan live in Southern California and split their time between work, family, and travel. She works in lifestyle and fashion content creation, and Devan is deeply involved in the eyewear industry through his family business, DITA Eyewear. They both love design, wellness, long walks, good food, travel, and being around family. Their happiest moments are usually the simplest ones.

How did you meet?

We actually have a pretty wild story. We went to the same middle school, the same two high schools, and even attended the same school in Lugano, Switzerland. While we were there, we were friends but never dated. We even have photos together from that time, our parents met there, and we took Italian class together. Years later, we ran into each other again in Orange County (our hometown) about three summers ago, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Devan proposed in Sardinia on a private beach. It was incredibly special. We celebrated with a private yacht afterward, and then continued traveling through Italy and France for another three weeks. He proposed with two rings: one is a family heirloom, and the other he designed with a close family friend and jeweler, Metal Noir. It features a yellow diamond and is so meaningful to us.

The Wedding Vision

1. When and where is your wedding taking place?

We’re getting married in Ravello, Italy, on the Amalfi Coast, on September 1st. Reception at the Belmond Caruso! Ceremony in a church.

2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.

Traditional. Timeless. Intimate.

3. Do you have a moodboard or reference image you keep going back to?

Our inspiration is very old-world Italian: dramatic churches, stone streets, candlelight, soft florals, and editorial photography. Less “Pinterest wedding,” more cinematic love story. Very intimate and emotional.

4. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?

A meaningful ceremony in a historic church, candlelit intimacy over spectacle, and photography that feels emotional, editorial, timeless, and never overly posed or trendy.

Planning Process

1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?

Finally deciding on a venue after months and months of searching (honestly… LOL). Planning alongside both of our moms has also been really special and has made the process feel even more meaningful.

We chose Les Vaques for videography, Haute Weddings for photography, and The Wedding Boutique for planning.

2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?

How emotional it is. It’s not just logistics. It brings up family, tradition, priorities, and what truly matters. It’s been grounding and has brought us even closer.

3. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?

Decide how you want it to feel before deciding how it should look. Once the feeling is clear, everything else falls into place. I also chose my dress before almost anything else, and that actually helped guide so many decisions afterward.
