Villa Rossi in Lucca already looks like it has a story to tell, and this editorial gave that story two leads. Part Pride & Prejudice, part Bridgerton, with a little 2000s rom-com mischief running underneath, the shoot imagines a classic period romance through a modern, fashion-forward lens, captured scene by scene by Pearl Wedding Photography, as if the love story were already well underway.

The shoot was approached as a series of individual scenes from a love story already in motion: intimate, cinematic, slightly dramatic, and full of personality. The goal was for the couple to look as though they truly belonged within the villa and its history. The visual concept became a meeting point between an Italian love story, a historic romantic drama, and a contemporary fashion editorial. The venue’s grandeur gave the images a sense of timelessness, while the couple’s warmth, movement, and playful connection kept the story from feeling too formal or distant.

Fashion

The bridal look felt deeply romantic, with a subtle vintage-inspired quality that suited the atmosphere of the villa beautifully. Softly refined makeup and a natural hairstyle by Trucco Bologna kept the look relaxed and lived-in, letting her expressions and personality stay at the center of every frame.

The different outfits created distinct chapters within the editorial. The getting-ready imagery carried an intimate, nostalgic quality, like a quiet scene from an old romantic film. The main gown felt graceful and timeless, with enough structure and visual presence to hold its own in a fashion-led editorial. Later, a shorter party dress brought in a more playful, youthful energy, its slight vintage spirit perfect for the lighter, more spontaneous moments and adding another dimension to the story.

What stood out most was the balance between softness and character. The bride came across as romantic and feminine, but never fragile or overly traditional, confident, modern, and expressive, a beautiful contrast against the historic setting.

Inspiration & Venue

Three visual worlds shaped the concept, developed and organized by Nick Zharkov and Irena Balashko: the grandeur and emotional depth of a historic romantic drama, the playful chemistry of a modern romantic comedy, and the confident edge of a contemporary fashion editorial, rarely brought together this deliberately.

Villa Rossi shaped the entire visual language and emotional tone of the editorial. Frescoed walls, ornate rooms, long architectural lines, and soft natural light immediately intensified the romantic, cinematic atmosphere the team wanted to explore. The historic interiors brought grandeur and emotional depth to the photographs, while creating an unexpected contrast with the more contemporary fashion elements. The architecture and fashion seemed to merge naturally, letting the imagery feel both timeless and editorial.

The contrast became the heart of the shoot. A historic Italian villa naturally suggests something traditional and classically romantic, yet its architecture also made an unexpectedly powerful setting for contemporary fashion imagery. The clean exterior left room for stronger, more modern compositions, while the richly decorated rooms brought depth, fantasy, and the atmosphere of a historic love story. The library, grand doorways, long corridors, tall windows, and surrounding gardens offered an extraordinary variety of scenes without the editorial losing its visual coherence, each space playing out like a different chapter of the same romantic narrative.

Scenes From a Love Story

The surrounding gardens added another dimension. Outdoors, the photos turned lighter, more spontaneous, and playful, while still holding onto the feeling of a classic romantic story. The venue gave the groom a quiet, almost Mr. Darcy-like presence, while the bride appeared strong, elegant, and entirely at home within the setting.

The floral design, by Tonight, complemented the villa’s romantic character and its surrounding landscape. Arrangements in a soft palette of white, cream, blush, and subtle peach brought warmth and delicacy to the outdoor ceremony space, blending naturally with the gardens and the pale façade of the villa behind them. The florals felt connected to their surroundings, becoming part of the setting itself instead of reading as a separate installation, and giving the ceremony an intimate, refined quality.

A Love Story in Every Room

The overall design matched the villa’s romantic, artistic character. Soft floral arrangements, elegant tableware, candles, layered textiles, and refined stationery brought in a sense of intimacy and understated luxury. What worked especially well was how the decorative elements responded to the colors and textures already present within the interiors. The floral palette harmonized with the painted walls and frescoes, while the table design remained elegant enough to suit the location’s grandeur without tipping into overly formal or visually overwhelming.

The design felt romantic and thoughtfully put together, yet left enough space for the fashion, the couple’s personalities, and the villa itself to stay at the center of the visual story. Instead of transforming the venue into something different, the styling highlighted the character that was already there.

The Beauty of Balance

One of the most fascinating parts of the shoot was finding ways to bring the villa’s hand-painted ceilings and walls into the photographs. The level of detail was breathtaking, and the team often looked beyond the most obvious compositions to show how the couple existed within the full scale, color, and beauty of the rooms.

The creative challenge was capturing that visual richness without letting the surroundings overpower the couple. The architecture needed to stay an essential part of the story while the photographs remained intimate, emotional, and fashion-led. Finding the balance between the villa’s grandeur, the styling, and the couple’s genuine connection became one of the most interesting and rewarding parts of the shoot.
