Some love stories borrow their mood from cinema, and this one opens with Alfonso Cuarón’s Great Expectations, the 1998 film where green seeps into nearly every frame as a quiet symbol of hope. MCW Photo Cinema carried that same green-washed romance into the lavender garden of Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, the Mexican hotel marking its fifteenth year of hosting love stories. Working alongside creative director Saraí Flores and the planning team at Cosme Wedding Studio, the shoot set out to capture endless romance, verdant greenery, and a fresh, almost untamed beauty.

"We wanted to capture that same spirit: endless romance, verdant greens, and a fresh, almost untamed beauty that feels both cinematic and deeply alive."

Fashion

Fashion carried the whole story forward, shaped by two Mexican bridal designers whose work leans into romance and quiet drama. Thalasso Estudio and Adriana Madrid Bridal dressed the model in pieces that felt dreamy and powerful at once, deeply feminine and made to be remembered. The standout was a long cape worn out in the garden, the kind of piece you find yourself wanting to take home.

Beauty stayed soft on purpose. Dani Pal Makeup & Hair kept the makeup natural and luminous, built to enhance rather than transform, while the hair fell loose and romantic, as if the garden breeze had styled it. Pressed botanicals from Natural Perpetua became wearable art, from a red floral headpiece to the smallest hand-set details.

Styled shoots rarely go entirely to plan, and this one had its moment. On the day, one of the sourced vintage dresses simply would not work on the model, so a designer on set stepped in with a replacement gown and the shoot carried on without missing a beat!

Florals

Florals set the emotional temperature of the shoot, and the palette stayed intentionally restrained. Florklore Studio worked almost entirely in natural greens and whites. The flowers melted into the garden and let the whole scene breathe, which is exactly what a forgotten garden should feel like.

That green-forward choice echoed the venue’s own lavender garden and the verdant world of the film that started it all. Organic beauty did the heavy lifting, and the greenery read as a living part of the architecture rather than a decoration placed on top of it.

“Just fresh, organic beauty that melted seamlessly into the garden and let the atmosphere breathe. The idea of a forgotten garden carried us through.”

Reception

The reception table is where the concept fully came to life, styled out on the grass in the same white and green tones that run through the shoot. This is the moment the whole team loves most, and it earns the attention. Hand-painted ceramic plates by a local San Miguel artist sat alongside hand-embroidered napkins, each one a small and singular work of art.

That craft mattered here. Weaving the traditions of San Miguel de Allende into the design grounded the shoot in its place, its culture, and the hands of the people who make the city what it is. Cosme Wedding Studio held the logistics together, Warehouse Guanajuato supplied the rentals, Lucerna shaped the paper goods, and Sophia Pedrazzi Cake Boutique finished the table with a cake worth lingering over. Amelia Booth kept the celebration playful. Time seemed to slow down at that table, and every place setting invited you to stay.

It grounds our work in the place, in the culture, and in the hands of the people who make this city so extraordinary,” says the team.
