Ana and Matheus met in 2011 in Balneário Camboriú and have been together since October 2012. After eight years of dating, Matheus proposed, and in 2025 the two celebrated with a small, intimate wedding surrounded only by the people closest to them. Travelers at heart, proud parents to four adopted cats, and two people who never wanted a traditional wedding. This one was entirely their own.
Location: Santa Catarina, Brazil
Style: Romantic, modern, authentic.
Time of planning: 8 months
Number of guests: 35
Setting: Hotel
Season: October
A very special part of the day was having Luisa from Alice Wants Dessert as their filmmaker, brought in from another city because Ana had fallen in love with her work the first time she saw it. “I have always considered myself a bit shy and awkward in front of the camera,” Ana says, “but with Luisa I felt completely at ease.” Her approach was organic, fluid, and caring, guiding the couple so naturally that every moment unfolded on its own.
The moment that impressed Ana most came afterward, when she watched the film and heard the music Luisa had chosen without any briefing or reference at all. It was her all-time favorite song. “I was genuinely surprised by how perfectly she understood us and the atmosphere of the day.”
Bride's Fashion
Ana’s wedding dress was custom-made by her dressmaker, Bete Rawlino, designed together from scratch to match exactly what she had in mind. The highlight was a deep open back, something Ana says was essential from the very beginning. Simple, timeless, and exactly right. She completed the look with low-heel mules, chosen for comfort, and a bouquet of simple white and green flowers that kept the focus where she wanted it, on the dress itself. Hair and makeup were handled by Bruna Gomes, who understood the brief immediately: light, glowing makeup and soft boho waves that felt natural and personal.
It was a truly memorable day, and one of the highlights was having all their guests staying at the hotel, creating an atmosphere that felt intimate and genuinely relaxed from the very beginning. Ana got ready with her sister and her mother, an emotional morning that set the tone for everything that followed.
Groom's Fashion
Matheus wore a dark blue Hugo Boss suit with black Dr. Martens Oxford shoes, a look that felt completely aligned with the modern, intimate aesthetic of the day.
There were many meaningful moments throughout the day, but one that stands out was when Matheus received the reliquary while getting ready. It held photos of his father and their cat, both of whom had recently passed away. He had no idea it was coming. “It felt like having them with us,” Ana says, “and honoring them during such a special moment in our lives.”
Ceremony
The location was the first decision they made, and everything else followed from it. Naatooh Hotel is a place with meaning for Ana and Matheus, somewhere they have returned to on many significant occasions, and when the idea of getting married began to take shape, the venue was never really in question. All guests stayed at the hotel from Friday to Sunday, which made the weekend feel natural and unhurried, with a welcome cocktail the evening before and the wedding itself the following day.
The ceremony was held outdoors to catch the sunset, and the rings were brought by Matheus’s niece, Valentina, whom Ana first met when Valentina was just two years old and is now fifteen. A small detail that carried a great deal of meaning for everyone in the room, all of it captured by Bruno Aguiar.
Cocktail Hour
Right after the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests moved into the cocktail hour, the celebration continuing in the warmth of the evening. “Having our closest friends and family together in one of our favorite places in the world was simply incredible,” Ana says, “and it will stay in our hearts forever.”
Planning & Reception Details
Ana and Matheus never wanted a classic wedding, and the design reflected that from the very beginning. Laplann helped shape the vision, drawing inspiration from modern, intimate celebrations and building a color palette of green, white, and terracotta that felt in direct conversation with the venue. The hotel is surrounded by nature, its decor and furniture already carrying those same tones, and the colors have always felt personal to Ana. Every decision, from the florals to the overall aesthetic, was shaped by the place itself.
Since the hotel was exclusively reserved for their guests, everyone stayed together from Friday to Sunday, turning the celebration into a full weekend rather than a single evening. Food was central to the experience, something both of them genuinely love. Instead of a traditional reception format, they chose a seated five-course dinner crafted by chef Fernando Martins. “Sharing a beautiful meal around the table felt like the most meaningful way to celebrate,” Ana says, “allowing everyone to slow down, connect, and enjoy the moment together.”
Reception
The reception décor stayed deliberately minimal, terracotta elements, white and green flowers, and candles that gave the space a warm, intimate glow. In keeping with their approach to the whole day, some traditions were left out entirely. There was no first dance. Instead, the moment that stood out came right after the toast, when Ana and Matheus finished decorating their wedding cake together with fruit and sugar.
Advice from the couple:
• The first thing we recommend is hiring a wedding planner. She will make everything much easier and lighter for you, so you can truly enjoy both the planning process and the wedding day.
• Also, don’t be afraid to invest in great photographers and filmmakers. Long after the day is over, these are the memories that remain — the images and the film that allow you to relive every emotion again and again.
• Most importantly, enjoy every moment of your wedding day. Eat, drink, dance, and love as much as you can, because the day goes by so quickly.
