Madeline and Nathaniel’s story began in Los Angeles, after matching on Hinge, a date that, as Madeline shares, “was actually my very first and only Hinge date, luckily.” The connection was instant, and what started as one date quickly became something much bigger. Just six months later, Nathaniel received a job offer in Amsterdam, and together they took a leap of faith, moving across the world to start a new chapter. There, they built a beautiful life, bought an apartment, welcomed their sweet dog Archie, and on a cozy December day, while decorating their Christmas tree, Nathaniel got down on one knee.
Location: Puglia, Italy
Style: Bold, Intimate, Sensual
Time of planning: 1,5 years
Number of guests: 90
Setting: Masseria
Season: Early Summer
When it came time to plan their wedding, choosing Italy felt completely natural. Over the years, Madeline and Nathaniel had fallen in love with traveling there together, returning again and again, especially to Puglia. “It always felt like a place we were drawn back to,” Madeline shares, and when it came time to celebrate the life they had built together and the adventure that brought them there, Puglia felt like the perfect place to say I do.
Inspiration & Planning
The couple approached their wedding vision by focusing less on a defined concept and more on a feeling. From the very beginning, they gave their planner, Opi at Open The Door Events, the freedom to create something truly immersive, with one hope in mind: that guests would feel instantly wowed the moment they arrived, surrounded by details that felt thoughtful, elevated, and just a little unexpected.
“I’ve always been drawn to a subtle vintage influence,” Madeline shares, a sensibility that quietly shaped the design throughout. When Opi proposed a bold monochromatic red palette, it immediately felt striking and unique. Set against the masseria’s white architecture, the deep blue Puglian sky, and warm stone floors, every red detail came to life, creating an atmosphere that felt dramatic, cohesive, and beautifully balanced, beautifully captured throughout the day by Ramone and brought to life on film by Grand Amor.
Bride's Morning & Fashion
Madeline’s bridal look began with a more traditional silhouette, which she reimagined through a distinctly vintage lens. “I wanted the overall feel to nod to the past while still feeling glamorous and timeless,” she shares, embracing a look that felt both classic and deeply personal.
Hair became one of the defining elements in bringing that vision to life. Together with her dear friend and hairstylist Irene Bobby, Madeline drew inspiration from icons like Priscilla Presley and Lana Del Rey, creating a soft, voluminous ’60s-inspired silhouette. Against the historic backdrop of the masseria, the look felt effortlessly in tune with its age, character, and quiet romance.
Her gown was designed by Prea James, paired with Jimmy Choo platform heels, a combination that perfectly captured the balance she was after, old-world in spirit, yet undeniably glamorous.
Groom's Fashion
Nathaniel’s look was always going to lean into the vintage direction he and Madeline had built the day around, but with a little boldness added in. He chose a custom cream jacket with wide-leg trousers from Australian brand P. Johnson, a discovery made by Madeline herself during what he describes as quite a long search. “Once we saw the jacket and suit together, we immediately fell in love,” he says. It felt right for the setting and the mood of the day from the moment they found it.
The vintage bow tie was the detail that committed the look entirely. “When else in life do you get to wear a cream dinner jacket with an oversized bow tie?” Nathaniel says. Black velvet dress shoes grounded everything and added a quiet elegance to the overall picture.
For accessories, he wore vintage cufflinks from Georg Jensen, the Danish jeweler, and a gold pinky ring gifted by Madeline, a personal touch that meant as much as anything else he wore. The boutonniere, provided by their wedding planner Opi, complemented the cream tones beautifully, and Gucci sunglasses finished the look with a relaxed, modern edge.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the grounds of the masseria, surrounded by an ancient olive grove. Soft white draping framed by natural greenery formed the backdrop, with delicate, bush-like arrangements in place of traditional florals, keeping everything organic and understated.
One of their closest friends officiated, which made the whole thing feel as personal as a ceremony can. Madeline and Nathaniel wrote and read their own vows, keeping them intentionally short and deeply meaningful.
"Our love unfolded quickly, deeply, and without hesitation. Doing life with you is the greatest thing I'll ever do. We're meant to be, and this is the only thing I'm sure of."

Cocktail Hour & Moments Together
Before the reception, the cocktail hour took its place, Aperol spritzes in hand and a spread of focaccia, prosciutto, olives, and more to keep guests going. The kind of easy, unhurried moment that sets the right tone for an evening still to come.
While guests were at the cocktail hour, the couple stole a private moment for themselves, Ramone there to capture it all in the golden Puglian light.
Reception Decor
One of the most memorable moments of the day, Madeline says, was watching guests walk into the dinner setup for the first time. The all-red tablescape was a bold statement, and the reaction in the room was immediate. “You could tell it was something no one had experienced at a wedding before,” she says. Seeing the surprise and excitement on everyone’s faces made the decision feel worth every bit of the risk.
Reception
Red banquet tables in a loose, snakelike formation, bold candles dripping wax onto the tablecloths, red menu cards and place settings, and glass-like floral arrangements by La Esencia de la Flor as centerpieces. Dinner was slow and Italian, speeches woven through the evening, espresso martinis arriving to signal that the night was shifting into something else entirely.
That something else was waiting in a completely different space the guests had yet to discover, centered around a traditional Puglian trulli. The party that followed was, by all accounts, the kind that people talk about long after. “Looking around and seeing our guests so happy, dancing, laughing, and fully immersed in the live music,” Madeline says, “made it feel like an epic night for all of us.” Every bit of effort and planning, in that moment, felt completely worth it.
Champagne tower, dancing until the night gave out, and an atmosphere that felt like a scene from a film nobody wanted to end. Every moment of it was captured on camera by Ramone and on film by Grand Amor, two teams whose work gave the couple something to return to long after the night was over.
