At WedVibes, we’re always drawn to the stories behind the aesthetics—the vision boards, voice notes, and late-night Pinterest scrolls that quietly shape iconic wedding moments. So, we did what we do best: reached out to real brides who are planning weddings their way. From spontaneous proposals to guest lists made on Google Docs, these brides are rewriting the rules and curating celebrations that feel less like tradition and more like self-expression.
In this series, they open up about the moodboards they can’t stop tweaking, the TikTok trends they’re into, and the vendors who just get it. Expect real love stories, real planning highs (and lows), and plenty of inspiration for your own “main character” moment.
Meet The Couple
Devynn and Edgardo are based in Chicago but constantly traveling for work and life. Devynn owns a wedding content company, so weddings have always been a huge part of her world, while Edgardo keeps her grounded and reminds her to enjoy the moments instead of over-planning them. Outside of work, they love hosting friends, traveling, discovering great food, and finding any excuse to celebrate life together.
How did you meet?
We met in college before 2020, when we were both a little wild and definitely not looking for anything serious. What started as an easy conversation turned into an instant connection, something undeniable.
The Proposal
Edgardo proposed in Paris last spring, on a bridge beneath Notre Dame. It was raining, there were no crowds or distractions, just the two of us in one of the most meaningful places in the world. It was incredibly intimate, emotional, and special.
The Wedding Vision
Our wedding inspiration blends old-world romance with Caribbean warmth, rooted deeply in Puerto Rico’s history and color. We’re drawn to textures and tones that feel collected over time: lace linens, layered tablecloths, soft pleats, and imperfect details that feel intentional rather than overly styled. We’re inspired by vintage European garden parties mixed with Puerto Rico’s historic charm.
1. When and where is your wedding taking place?
We’re getting married in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Edgardo’s family is from, a place that holds deep meaning for our families and us.
2. Describe your wedding in 3 words.
Intentional, elevated, emotional.
3. What are three non-negotiable elements for your big day?
A ceremony that feels sacred and immersive, this is the most meaningful part of the day for us.
Not doing a first look, and instead letting the aisle moment be exactly what it’s meant to be.
Food that reflects Puerto Rican culture, so our guests experience the place and heritage that mean so much.

Planning Process
1. What’s been the highlight of your planning process so far?
Choosing to have our wedding in Puerto Rico, planned by Reverie & Co Events, specifically, celebrating a Catholic ceremony in a historic cathedral in Old San Juan. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of, and being able to honor that tradition in a place so meaningful to our family has made the entire experience feel incredibly special. It grounded the planning process and reminded us that this day is about faith, family, and intention.
2. What’s surprised you most about wedding planning?
Even being in the wedding industry, planning your own wedding is completely different. It’s more emotional, more personal, and it’s taught me how important it is to slow down and trust the process. It also gave me an instant deeper connection to my brides and clients now.
3. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting their planning journey?
Make decisions that feel right for you, not what you think you’re supposed to do. Don’t plan for Instagram or copy something straight from Pinterest. The most memorable weddings are the ones that feel honest, intentional, and uniquely yours. Most importantly, hire the planner!
