Australia feels like a world grown from its own seed: a continent of silver gums, banksia, and eucalyptus that shape not only the landscape but the people who live among them. It’s no coincidence that some of the most visionary florists come from here. They grew up surrounded by this raw, untamed beauty and learned to speak its language through flowers. Here, floristry has evolved into fine art, where the artist’s material is a living creature.

In 2025, floral design moved beyond bouquets and into storytelling. We saw a rise in botanical maximalism, layered textures, sculptural branches, and color gradients pulled straight from nature rather than the paint wheel. Native species became the new luxury; sustainability turned from a statement into a standard.

Within this movement, Australian florists stand apart. Their craft reflects the wild rhythm of their landscape: coastal light, desert minimalism, rainforest depth. We gathered 19 of the most visionary studios shaping this scene. Each of them has its own visual DNA, philosophy, and sense of space.

Mrs Gibbons Flowers is a family-run studio by Amber and David Gibbons, based on the South Coast of New South Wales and working across Australia. Their partnership blends Amber’s artistic direction with David’s technical precision, and turns floristry into a form of spatial art. “We design with a sculptural hand and a romantic heart,” Amber notes, and this phrase perfectly defines their sculptural yet emotionally grounded style.

Their work is distinguished by clean lines, soft tonal transitions, and an architectural sense of balance. Each wedding concept is built from scratch, echoing the landscape of coastal scenes or historic estates where it unfolds.

A Fremantle-based studio in Western Australia, Sir Botanical, bridges wedding floristry with the visual language of editorial storytelling. Led by Kate Black, the team is known for large-scale installations where floral forms become spatial expression, with an emphasis on large sculptural pieces and modern design. Their work goes beyond decoration, and create conceptual compositions shaped by each couple’s aesthetic.

The studio defines its vision in five words: Modern, Wild, Stylish, Luxe, Unique. This philosophy comes through in suspended installations, layered textures, and the mix of fresh and dried botanicals as a direction for couples drawn to visual boldness and design experimentation.

Solasta Blooms is a boutique floral studio, founded by Laura Berger, who returned to Australia after years in Europe with a desire to capture what truly illuminates a couple. The name Solasta comes from a Scottish word meaning luminous or shining, a feeling reflected in the studio’s work through soft palettes, textured installations, and compositions that feel inherently tied to place.

Solasta Blooms is based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and offers so much more than bouquets and arches: each project begins with a personal consultation, mood board, and styling guidance. “We hand-select our flower then bring it to life for your occasion,” the team notes.

Film & Foliage brings the raw poetry of nature into wedding design. Founded by florist Ash Wheelhouse in Newcastle, the studio has shaped over 700 weddings across Australia from vineyard estates in the Hunter Valley to architectural venues in Sydney. Their signature “wildly beautiful” aesthetic favors movement, texture, and earth-born forms. Sustainability runs through every detail: no floral foam, locally grown botanicals, reusable structures, and full composting. Film & Foliage reflects the natural world not as decoration but as atmosphere: alive, unforced, and deeply felt.
