Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Style: Elegant, modern, garden party
Time of planning: 13 months
Number of guests: 169
Setting: Ceremony – courtyard, reception – event space
Season: Fall
Haley and Adam first met in college, brought together by a mutual friend who set them up as dates for a fraternity party. It was a night neither of them would forget, and the beginning of something truly special. Years later, Adam proposed in a moment straight out of a dream. Just the two of them, overlooking the serene beauty of Lake Como and their hotel below, he asked Haley to spend forever with him. It was intimate, magical, and even more perfect than Haley had ever imagined.
Bride's Look
Haley wore an elegant Fairmont gown by Jane Hill Bridal, a clean, fit-and-flare silhouette with a romantic sweetheart neckline. For the ceremony, she added a touch of drama with classic white gloves, saving them for her walk down the aisle to reveal a fresh detail that even Adam hadn’t yet seen.
Her look was completed with a pair of iconic Manolo Blahnik heels and understated accessories: a delicate tennis bracelet and pearl earrings gifted by her father to her mother years ago. Haley’s veil, gracefully draped and full of sentiment, was borrowed from her sister’s wedding. She wore Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey perfume, adding a soft, sweet finish to her bridal ensemble. Bianca Sanostri Artistry styled the bride’s hair into a chic low bun, paired with glowing, natural makeup that highlighted her radiant smile.
Groom's Fashion
Adam and his groomsmen looked effortlessly sharp in classic black tuxedos paired with sleek patent leather shoes. Adam added a personal twist to his look with a signature piece he couldn’t resist: a Gucci cummerbund that brought just the right touch of elevated flair to his formalwear. To complete the look, he wore a simple white ranunculus boutonnière, elegant, understated, and the perfect floral accent.
First Look
Haley and Adam shared a quiet, emotional first look before the ceremony, a moment that turned out to be one of their favorites from the day. As soon as Haley saw Adam waiting for her, all of her nerves melted away. The joy, the relief, and the love in that instant set the tone for everything that followed. It was intimate, grounding, and full of the kind of magic that only comes from seeing your person just before saying “I do.”
By their side throughout it all was Melissa Atle, someone the couple trusted with all their heart. “We had so much fun,” they shared. “It felt like Melissa was just another one of our friends at the wedding.” That ease and connection translated beautifully into the visuals, which captured the contagious spirit of the day — fun, playful, and lighthearted, yet also deeply beautiful, natural, and raw.
Right after their heartfelt first look, the couple boarded a vintage bus from Cloud Limousine — a charming detail that perfectly matched the energy of the day. As they pulled up, joyful guests welcomed them with cheers, all eager to share in the meaningful ride to the ceremony together.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the romantic courtyard of the Ivy Room Chicago, a lush, ivy-covered oasis tucked into the heart of the city. Inspired by the venue’s natural charm, Haley envisioned a look that was timeless and elegant, something she could love just as much decades from now. For this green, garden-like courtyard, soft white florals by Flowers By KH felt just right, elegant, natural, and effortlessly beautiful. The ceremony arch, overflowing with garden roses, ranunculus, and delicate greenery, created a dreamy focal point that blended seamlessly into the space.
Guests were welcomed with glasses of champagne and a stunning calligraphed mirror by Nerissa B. Calligraphy that doubled as both the seating chart and an eye-catching photo moment. The setting truly transported guests — right in the heart of Chicago, yet it felt like a hidden garden escape far from the city’s hustle. The weather was absolutely perfect, making the entire experience feel just magical.
The ceremony struck the perfect balance between captivating and easy-going. Though the guest list was full, the atmosphere felt calm, intimate, and personal. In a moment that perfectly reflected his personality, Adam walked down the aisle to a live string version of ‘They Tryna Be Cray‘ by Playboi Carti, a playful, unexpected touch that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. From there, the ceremony unfolded with heartfelt vows, gentle laughter, and the kind of presence that only comes when surrounded by the people who mean the most.
"To this day our guests still gush over our vows."
Haley, the bride
Cocktail Hour
The celebration flowed effortlessly into cocktail hour, where guests were greeted with a quick round of refreshing drinks before the reception began. Signature cocktails included a classic Old Fashioned and a spiced pear margarita — flavors that felt just right for early fall, warm and cozy yet still crisp enough for a sun-soaked afternoon. The courtyard buzzed with conversation, clinking glasses, and the perfect pre-dinner energy.
Reception
Wedding planner Shannon Gail brought Haley and Adam’s vision to life with impeccable style and intention, creating a setting that felt both sophisticated and inviting. Soft ivory linens, garden-inspired floral arrangements, and flickering candlelight adorned each table, casting a romantic glow across the room. A single sprig of greenery tucked into each place setting added a fresh, natural touch, perfectly echoing the ceremony’s courtyard charm.
Haley and Adam entered the reception hand in hand, beaming with excitement and ready to celebrate. The room erupted in applause as they made their way to the dance floor — glasses in hand, hearts full. It was a moment that perfectly captured the joy and ease of the entire day.
The toasts were a highlight of the evening: heartfelt, hilarious, and unforgettable. Haley’s sister, serving as Maid of Honor, and Adam’s childhood friend, the Best Man, had everyone rolling with laughter while also tugging at heartstrings. Dinner by Ivy Room Chicago was equally memorable, thoughtfully curated and beautifully served. Guests were not only delighted in the moment but left raving about the food for days after.
The cake by ECBG Cake Studio was a true showstopper. Designed with three sleek tiers adorned in delicate white roses, each layer offered a different flavor: rich chocolate, classic vanilla, and sweet strawberry — something for every guest to enjoy. As Haley and Adam cut into the cake, ‘Lover’ by Taylor Swift played softly in the background, adding the perfect romantic touch to a moment that felt straight out of a fairytale.
As ‘You Send Me’ by Aretha Franklin floated through the room, Haley and Adam swayed together, completely in their own world. Every step of their first dance felt effortless, every glance filled with emotion. With friends and family looking with admiration, they laughed, twirled, and held each other close.
For the evening, Haley slipped into a chic mini dress with bold puff sleeves, perfect for dancing the night away. Adam swapped his classic tux jacket for a brown velvet one, adding a cool, unexpected twist to his look. Together, they nailed the party vibe with outfits that were effortlessly stylish and full of personality.
The celebration carried on late into the night, vibrant and unforgettable, as the live band, Chicago Catz, kept the energy high and the dance floor packed. With every song, the room buzzed with joy, laughter, and the kind of magic only a wedding night can bring.
"We had so much fun the whole day."
Haley, the bride
