French designer Rime Arodaky has presented “Velvetine”, her namesake brand’s latest collection. Drawing inspiration from the timeless romance of Romeo and Juliet and the emotional depth of classic French and English literature, Velvetine evokes the nostalgia of star-crossed lovers and embraces emotions—floating between love and melancholy, nostalgia and hope. “This collection invites you to live within a poem, walk through a film, and resonate with the notes of a nostalgic melody, where each moment celebrates emotional complexity,” says Rime.
The designer wanted the show to feel real, deep, and truly alive for everyone. It was set at the Church of Transfiguration, right in the heart of New York City, chosen for its majesty and grandeur, with the event starting as the bells tolled. Watching the brides walk from the church, a sacred space where vows are exchanged, was a moment of pure beauty. The dramatic classical music took everyone back to the timeless romance found in classic literature. What made it even more special was that all the models were real brides—20 stunning women, each with a unique character and love story. “These women bring depth and real emotion, reminding us that bridal fashion isn’t just about trends, but about honoring each bride’s individuality and personal journey,” says Rime, who recently married too.
The silhouettes are strikingly modern, with clean lines and bold cuts that beautifully accentuate the female form. Brides will find everything from basque waists and draped bodices to delicate floral fabrics, French and Italian lace, sheer tulle overlays, to romantic, voluminous skirts and asymmetrical designs. Every creation feels like a blend of past and future, as if wearing one is like stepping into a story filled with dreams, passion, chic, and femininity that resonates deeply.
