A go-to for cool brides, Australian design house KYHA Studios debuted its new collection, “Le Coucou,” at New York Bridal Fashion Week. The collection captures the ultimate alpine aesthetic and draws upon the contrast between rugged peaks and soft snowfall. The show kicked off with a stunning video campaign filmed in New Zealand, set against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains—a perfect inspiration for the upcoming winter season.
“Snowscapes are a new creative frontier for me and the driving force behind the silhouettes, draping, textures, and fabrics in “Le Coucou,” says Kyha Scott, founder and creative director. The collection plays with layering and impresses with natural alpine hues and new proportions. Deeply dipped waistlines, demi cups, and exposed corsetry showcase Scott’s commitment to innovation. Continuing the theme of contrast between the hardness of mountains and the softness of snow, the collection incorporates solid vegan leather alongside fluid fabrics like crepe and chiffon. Dimensional draping mimics the levels of a mountain range.
The standout of “Le Coucou” is its embellished offering. Three new beaded fabrications create a show-stopping effect. Gowns shimmering with sequins of varying sizes for an ice-like impact or an all-over sequin look that captures the glistening of snow at dawn. A tassel beading, designed to catch the light like snow falling at night, adds texture, movement, and sparkle to every step, whether in a black dress or silver skirts. It’s an exciting collection to see—and even more thrilling to wear.
