They also note that Vietnam’s tropical monsoon climate means the weather can change quickly, from sudden rain to bright sunshine; so having covered or indoor backup options is always essential.

Vietnam has several major international airports that serve as your entry points:
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) – Ho Chi Minh City (southern Vietnam)
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) – Hanoi (northern Vietnam)
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) – Central coast, close to Hoi An and luxury beach resorts.
Many nationalities are visa-exempt for short stays, and others can use an online e-visa (valid for up to 90 days) — both of which make airport entry faster and more efficient. The country has expanded the number of checkpoints (including airports) where e-visas can be used, further smoothing the arrival process.
Flights to Vietnam are accessible from around the world, though how easy it is to get there depends on where you’re flying from and how much you’re willing to plan ahead.
United States and Canada: Most U.S. and all Canadian flights involve one stop — common layovers are in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, or other major Asian hubs. There are some direct flights, but they’re limited. Vietnam Airlines operates a direct service between San Francisco and Ho Chi Minh City.
Europe: There are direct flights connecting major European cities like Paris, Frankfurt, and London directly to Vietnam (often to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City). You’ll also find many one-stop options via Middle Eastern carriers (e.g., Qatar Airways, Emirates) or Asian carriers (e.g., Singapore Airlines).
Australia & New Zealand: Flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Vietnam are common, with both direct and one-stop options through cities like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Taipei. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have expanded routes between Australia and Vietnam due to growing demand.
Asia: As you’d expect, flights from places like Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kongare frequent and often direct, making travel from most of Asia very smooth.
