Why Vietnam Is an Incredible Destination for Weddings?

Vietnam is quietly redefining what a destination wedding in Southeast Asia can feel like. It’s a place where beauty goes beyond scenery, shaped by natural beauty, culture, and a strong sense of identity. According to wedding industry professionals, these are the key reasons why Vietnam is becoming an increasingly compelling choice for modern couples.

A Variety of Cinematic Landscapes

What sets Vietnam apart is first and foremost its nature. Vietnam offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes in a relatively small geography. From stunning golden beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs to lush rice terraces and French-inspired colonial architecture, the country presents a painter’s palette of colors and textures. This variety allows couples to choose a setting that truly reflects their vision. “For photographers, it means every angle tells a story. Light reflecting on water, mist rising over mountains, or ancient temples standing beside modern design,” says Jack Le, wedding photographer and co-founder of KT Marry.

World-Class Luxury Without the Overwhelming Price Tag

One of the biggest reasons couples are choosing Vietnam is the value. The country is home to some of Asia’s most beautiful luxury resorts and boutique hotels, many of them designed by internationally renowned architects and interior studios. Think private villas, cliffside infinity pools, and serene spa-like settings — all at a cost that’s often significantly lower than similar venues in Europe or other parts of Southeast Asia. This allows couples to elevate wedding details and have longer wedding weekends without constantly compromising on budget.

A New Favorite for Design-Led Weddings

Vietnam is especially appealing to couples with a strong aesthetic vision. The country’s natural textures — stone, water, wood, greenery — pair beautifully with modern, minimalist, or editorial styling. We’re seeing weddings that feel more like curated stories: sculptural florals, neutral palettes, intentional use of space, and clean architectural lines.

“Vietnam has a quiet visual language where emotion naturally comes first. The light is often soft and diffused, the landscapes feel open yet intimate, and the surroundings never compete with the couple. Instead, they create space for love to unfold organically, resulting in imagery that feels timeless, honest, and deeply human,” shares De Rossa Studio, a wedding photography and videography firm.

Rich Culture That Adds Meaning, Not Just Visuals

Beyond the scenery, Vietnam brings a profound cultural depth that resonates with couples looking for more than just a pretty location. Traditional tea ceremonies, symbolic rituals, local music, and meaningful culinary elements can be woven into the wedding experience in a way that feels respectful and intentional.

Vietnamese cuisine itself becomes part of the celebration — fresh herbs, vibrant flavors, and beautifully presented dishes that turn the wedding dinner into a sensory journey. Many couples also incorporate local craftsmanship into décor, favors, or attire, adding layers of authenticity and storytelling to their day.

A Hub for Creative Wedding Professionals

“Over the past 15 years, our local wedding industry has grown exponentially,” says the planning team at The F Lab. “Talented planners, designers, and vendors are now internationally recognized, meaning couples can be confident that Vietnam’s professionals are capable of delivering world-class celebrations.” Photographer Jack Le of KT Marry also loves the new generation of creative wedding vendors in Vietnam, saying, “Their dedication and artistry bring couples a wedding experience that feels distinctive, personal, and truly unforgettable.”

But the local photographers themselves are incredible. They are genuinely in love with the country and find a huge inspiration there. Photographers at De Rossa Studio say that Vietnam offers a more introspective atmosphere, one that naturally lends itself to emotional, story-driven imagery. Jack Le of KT Marry shares, “Vietnam constantly pushes me to create and to refine my own artistic voice. Each location here not only inspires me visually but also helps me shape a vision for the work that elevates the couple’s overall experience.”

Vietnam’s growing popularity has also drawn leading international wedding professionals, many of whom now include the country on their destination wedding calendars. This blend of global expertise and deep local insight results in seamless, elevated, and thoughtfully executed weddings attracting couples planning from abroad.

Still Under the Radar — For Now

Perhaps the most compelling reason Vietnam feels so desirable right now is that it hasn’t yet reached overexposure. “Unlike Bali or Thailand, which are long-established wedding spots, Vietnam is still a hidden gem that’s just beginning to shine on the international stage. For many wedding guests, attending a wedding here is their very first trip to Vietnam—making the experience exciting, fresh, and unforgettable,” says Hang Tran, a senior planner at The F Lab. Guests are intrigued. Imagery feels new. Each celebration carries a sense of discovery.

Top Wedding Destinations in Vietnam

Vietnam offers breathtaking contrasts within a single journey. Each destination has its own personality, yet all share a richness of atmosphere that elevates a love story. To help navigate this sea of possibilities, we’ve grouped wedding destinations by the kind of vibe they’re best suited for.

For Beach Lovers

“With its stunningly long coastline, Vietnam offers countless beach resorts in a wide range of architectural styles,” says Hang Tran of The F Lab. “From internationally renowned hotel groups to boutique properties run by local owners, couples can find venues to suit every budget and atmosphere. Beach weddings remain the top choice for around 70–80% couples choosing Vietnam. The top three beach destinations are Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc, each with its own highlights.”

Da Nang, the largest city in central Vietnam, boasts world-class resorts such as Four Seasons The Nam Hai and InterContinental Peninsula. Just 30 minutes away lies the UNESCO-listed town of Hoi An, a cultural gem beloved by visitors.

Nha Trang is home to some of Vietnam’s most stunning beaches, with clear blue waters and powdery white sand.

For unforgettable sunsets, Phu Quoc is unmatched, offering some of the most breathtaking purple skies in the world. “Phu Quoc stands out as Vietnam’s only destination where the sun sets directly over the sea, creating a soft, cinematic golden hour. With open horizons and minimal coastal scenery, it offers an ideal setting for intimate destination weddings driven by emotion and atmosphere,” photographers at De Rossa Studio share.

For Nature Enthusiasts

Sapa in the north is a dream location. Couples are surrounded by dramatic mountains and cascading rice fields while experiencing the rich culture of Vietnam’s northern ethnic minority communities,” shares Hang Tran of The F Lab.
Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay feel almost mythical, with limestone cliffs rising from the water like a natural film set.
Da Lat, with its misty pine forests, hidden villas, and romantic, French-inspired architecture, is perfect for couples dreaming of European aesthetics in Asia,” adds Jack Le of KT Marry.

For Chic City Vibes

Ho Chi Minh City leads the way with its cosmopolitan rhythm, luxury hotels, rooftop venues, and skyline views that set the tone for fashion-forward celebrations. Hanoi offers a different kind of city elegance — refined, cultural, and layered with French-colonial architecture that brings timeless romance to wedding imagery. Both cities are perfect for couples who love great design, vibrant food scenes, and sophistication.

Vietnam’s aesthetic is defined by restraint. The light feels softer, the color palette more muted, and the architecture carries a quiet sense of time. This place asks for less control and more listening. It changes the pace of how I work and quietly shapes how each story is told.

Tips for Couples Planning a Wedding in Vietnam

Weather & Seasonality

“Because Vietnam stretches across many latitudes, the weather varies greatly between the north and south. Couples should carefully consider rainy and typhoon seasons, especially if they dream of an outdoor celebration,” planners at The F Lab advise.

Photographer Jack Le of KT Marry considers the period from October to April the best season, thanks to its softer light and cooler temperatures. They also note that Vietnam’s tropical monsoon climate means the weather can change quickly, from sudden rain to bright sunshine; so having covered or indoor backup options is always essential.

Local Vendors

“Our biggest tip is to invest in a high-quality venue and an experienced wedding planner,” says Hang Tran of The F Lab. “A good planner will assist with everything—from legal requirements and vendor selection to design and logistics. With deep local knowledge and international standards, the right planner will ensure your wedding is seamless, beautiful, and smartly budgeted.” And this stress-free planning, in turn, always leads to more authentic photos.

In Vietnam, choosing the right season is key, as light and atmosphere vary significantly across regions. A relaxed timeline, thoughtful location choices, and space to slow down allow emotion to unfold naturally and that’s where the most meaningful images are created. Plan for feeling, not perfection.

Getting There

Vietnam has several major international airports that serve as your entry points:
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) – Ho Chi Minh City (southern Vietnam)
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) – Hanoi (northern Vietnam)
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) – Central coast, close to Hoi An and luxury beach resorts.

Many nationalities are visa-exempt for short stays, and others can use an online e-visa (valid for up to 90 days) — both of which make airport entry faster and more efficient. The country has expanded the number of checkpoints (including airports) where e-visas can be used, further smoothing the arrival process.

Flights to Vietnam are accessible from around the world, though how easy it is to get there depends on where you’re flying from and how much you’re willing to plan ahead.

United States and Canada: Most U.S. and all Canadian flights involve one stop — common layovers are in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, or other major Asian hubs. There are some direct flights, but they’re limited. Vietnam Airlines operates a direct service between San Francisco and Ho Chi Minh City.

Europe: There are direct flights connecting major European cities like Paris, Frankfurt, and London directly to Vietnam (often to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City). You’ll also find many one-stop options via Middle Eastern carriers (e.g., Qatar Airways, Emirates) or Asian carriers (e.g., Singapore Airlines).

Australia & New Zealand: Flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Vietnam are common, with both direct and one-stop options through cities like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Taipei. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have expanded routes between Australia and Vietnam due to growing demand.

Asia: As you’d expect, flights from places like Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kongare frequent and often direct, making travel from most of Asia very smooth.

As more couples seek meaning, beauty, and authenticity in the way they celebrate love, Vietnam stands out as a destination that offers it all. Beyond that, it gives unmatched cultural richness and a fresh sense of discovery. For local wedding vendors born and raised in Vietnam, their deep connection to their homeland forms the foundation of their creativity. As Jack Le of KT Marry, the renowned Vietnamese wedding photography company, beautifully put it: “Rooted in a deep love for our homeland and cultural traditions, we aim to introduce Vietnam to the global wedding community not only as a destination, but as a rising creative voice. This spirit drives us to elevate Vietnamese weddings to a refined, world-class level.”
