Whimsical Blooms Brighten a Mexican Weekend Wedding

Location: San Jose del Cabo, Mexico
Setting: Farm
Season: Winter
How long did the couple plan the event: 11 months
Number of guests: 75
Wedding theme/style: Vibrant, romantic, elegant.

Samantha and Jake’s love story began on a dating app, and their first date at a brewery began an inseparable bond. Sam, who had spotted Jake at a local brewery before matching with him online, couldn’t resist his charm. Sam recalls: “We went on our first date the night that we first matched on a dating app and have been inseparable since then.”

Their connection grew stronger, leading to a memorable proposal on the oceanfront at Puerto Los Cabos, where Sam’s parents live. This special place, where they spent countless hours golfing, became the backdrop for Jake’s heartfelt proposal.

The couple wanted their wedding to reflect their love for Mexico, combining Jake’s desire for an oceanfront ceremony with Sam’s admiration for Flora Farms. They decided on a compromise: a vibrant wedding at Flora Farms, San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, and a welcome party at the Fundadores club by the water. This blend allowed their friends and family to experience the Mexico they cherished.

The vision for the wedding was inspired by the couple’s desire for a three-day celebration filled with brightness and color. The bridal brunch channeled a Loveshack Fancy tea party, while the welcome party embraced a neon, disco 70s vibe.

The bridal brunch featured a delicate pastel palette, fitting perfectly with the venue’s atmosphere. The colors included lilac and sage green, Sam’s favorite hues. Florals by Floweriize were central to every event, with curated details that reflected the bride’s taste.

The welcome dinner was a vibrant celebration set against the backdrop of the ocean. The decor featured a lively mix of orange and red flowers, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Sam embroidered napkins, crafted cocktail stirrers, and designed neon signs, adding personal touches throughout.

Guests mingled under the string lights, enjoying the beautifully arranged seating areas with colorful cushions and glowing candles. The evening included live music, adding to the joyful ambiance as everyone gathered to kick off the wedding festivities.

On the wedding day, Sam’s bridal look was a blend of elegance and sentimental value. Her dress from Netta Benshabu was complemented by Loeffler Randall shoes and a custom veil from De La Rosa’s Bridal. She wore her mom’s diamond earrings, a Nadri bracelet, a necklace from her dad, and her grandma’s pearl ring. Her bouquet, designed by Floweriize, was classic and understated, perfectly matching her dress. Sam’s second dress was from BHLDN, adding a touch of versatility to her look.

Jake’s wedding attire was a striking green suit from Ted Baker, paired with Allen Edmonds shoes and belt, and a Nordstrom shirt. A bee pin, gifted by his Best Woman, adorned his boutonniere, adding a personal touch. On the wedding day, Sam gifted Jake a Tudor watch, while Jake gave Sam a Cartier bracelet. Sam wore a ring from her grandmother, who couldn’t attend the wedding.

The couple’s decision for a first look helped ease their nerves, though it was Sam who ended up shedding tears. Jake, however, couldn’t hold back his emotions as Sam walked down the aisle.

The ceremony, officiated by Jake’s brother-in-law, was a heartfelt, non-religious event. They wrote their own vows, making the ceremony deeply personal and meaningful. The emotional impact was felt by all, with tears of joy flowing freely. The focus was on sharing their love and then celebrating with their loved ones: “We just wanted to share our love and then have fun!” the bride shared.

Florist Floweriize played a crucial role in creating the wedding’s enchanting atmosphere. “For our clients, especially the bride, curated details were very important, and she was very specific about wanting to create three different ambiances, one for each celebration,” Jimena shared.

The vibrant and colorful floral arrangements were a highlight, with local tulips and ranunculus adding a touch of Mexican spring. The wedding itself combined shades of pinks and corals, with lush floral compositions and Mexican candles adding cultural elements. The ceremony arch, floral garlands, and chandelier installations were standout features, showcasing Jimena’s creativity and attention to detail.

The reception was a colorful and romantic affair. Sam meticulously chose the florals and table settings. The dinner featured a mix of Flora Farms’ signature cocktails, an open bar, and a shotski for added fun. One of Sam’s standout contributions was the Gucci wallpaper used for the seating chart and champagne wall.

They included bomboniere, an Italian tradition of candy-coated almonds, each representing a wish for the couple. Sam personalized table numbers, cocktail stirrers, and napkins with drawings of their dogs. She also created custom M&Ms and stickers for Hershey’s Kisses and Oreos.

Their first dance was to “Misty” by Caamp, followed by traditional parent dances. Sam’s dad, Carlo, gave a heartfelt speech, and the evening was kept lively with a DJ and live saxophone performances. Instead of a traditional cake, they opted for a dessert table and churros, along with a personalized candy table.

Reflecting on the wedding day, Sam shared, “Thinking back to the wedding day, my most memorable moments were putting on my dress with my mom, walking down the aisle, and then the dance floor.”

Advice from the couple:

Use a planner! And find one that you trust. My planner, Ari, made me feel so at ease, and I knew she was thinking of everything I wasn’t.

It all goes by so fast, so don’t freak out about what goes wrong because so many more things will go right! Weddings bring out the best and worst in people, and emotions are high. Things will even out.
