Location: Braga, Portugal
Style: Ethereal, romantic, sunset-inspired, timeless
Time of planning: Less than a year
Number of guests: 180
Setting: Ceremony – church, reception – restaurant
Season: Fall

Patrícia and João’s love story began long ago when they were just teenagers. The couple met at a friend’s party, and a lighthearted conversation immediately sparked a connection between them. However, life had unpredictable plans; afterwards the couple lived in the same city for two years but never crossed paths.

As João moved to Angola to work, Patrícia felt his absence profoundly. She finally understood that her life could not be complete without João. When he returned to Portugal for Christmas, everything fell into place, and they met again. Since then, the couple became inseparable. On Patrícia’s 30th birthday, they went to Zanzibar, which created the perfect occasion for João to orchestrate an intimate and enchanting proposal. As the sun set on a secluded beach and the waves splashed on the shore, João asked Patrícia ‘to be his forever.’

Bride's Fashion

Patrícia spent her morning surrounded by friends and family. With the help of the loved ones and wedding professionals, she created her dream look for the special day. The bride wore a chic pearly-white dress by Jesus Peiró. An elegant V-shaped neckline and an extended skirt hem created a sophisticated and flattering silhouette. Patrícia paired the dress with a voluminous sheer organza cape with flowy sleeves. The glimmer of the cape’s fabric made the bride glow in the sun, creating an ethereal look.

Patrícia chose chunky golden heels, adding a playful charm to her attire. As for accessories, the bride went with intricate golden earrings by Cata Vassalo, resembling a blossoming flower branch. For her makeup, the bride opted for a natural and warm look, reminiscent of the sunset skies. The hairstyle was simple, yet timeless: a half up-do with a delicate headpiece.

To complete the look, Patrícia chose her signature Yves Saint Laurent perfume. Another essential detail is the wedding bouquet, a whimsical arrangement of textured flowers by Flor em Arte. Light pink, lavender, and orange tones perfectly matched the aesthetic and complemented the bride’s attire.

Groom's Fashion

João went for a tailored black tuxedo with a tailcoat jacket by Gio Rodrigues. The silver-grey vest underneath made his attire more layered and complex, elevating the look. The groom finished it off with an elegant black tie and classic shoes. An important sentimental detail was the vintage pocket watch on a golden chain, mirroring the bride’s golden accents. João looked dashing and chic, resembling a prince from a romantic novel.

Ceremony

The ceremony was held at the Basílica do Bom Jesus on a picturesque hill with stunning views of the city below. Still, this breathtaking backdrop could not steal the spotlight from the newlyweds. As Patrícia walked down the red-carpeted aisle, accompanied by her beloved father, João stood waiting at the altar, smiling happily.

Father Rui, a family priest, held an intimate service as the serene harp melody accompanied his speech. All eyes were on João and Patrícia and the grand hall remained quiet and peaceful. Just after the couple exchanged their vows, one of the littlest family members brought out the rings. This heartfelt gesture caused a wave of awe in the audience.

After the ceremony, the guests made their way outside, awaiting the couple’s grand exit. When João and Patrícia walked down the church stairs hand-in-hand, family members and friends threw rose petals in the air, cheering loudly. The joyful couple beamed with excitement, waving at the crowd.

Private Moment

João and Patrícia made sure to take a moment just for themselves, taking a walk in the nearby blossoming gardens. As Anas captured this cherished memory, managing to convey both the magical nature of the wedding day and the vibrant character of the couple.

Venue & Decor

The reception took place at Colunata Eventos, where the breathtaking views over Braga matched the spirit of the sunset-inspired wedding. Before sitting in the spacious dining hall, the couple opted for the outdoor celebration, where all the guests could enjoy the scenery, bathing in the rays of golden autumn sun.

Planning a reception for almost 200 guests is not an easy task. Luckily, the couple’s cherished dream became true with the Made with Love Eventos. Inspired by the proposal, the wedding’s desired aesthetic was elaborated with attention to the smallest details. ‘Soft peach, vintage rose, and delicate lilac hues’ decor, exquisite flower arrangements, and warm lighting recalled the memorable beauty of the Zanzibar evening, making the celebration feel personal and meaningful.

"The color palette was a symphony of soft pastels, while the floral choices added texture and romance."

Reception

The reception began at the panoramic viewpoint, where the guests could enjoy signature cocktails, and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The couple’s arrival caused loud applause and cheers, as the guests could not wait to begin the celebration.

Instead of the traditional first dance, Patrícia and João opted for an upbeat samba performance, accompanied by Music Beats Eventos live band. Family and friends could not stay away from the dance floor the moment the energetic couple took the stage. Their charismatic duet was the true highlight of the day.

Afterward, the couple broke tradition once more, swapping the classic wedding cake for a playful tower of Bolas de Berlim, Portuguese doughnuts filled with creme, crafted by Ana from Made with Love Eventos. Patrícia and João finished the dessert by sprinkling some powdered sugar on top, adding another personal touch to the process.

The couple stood in front of their closest friends and family, as the sun painted golden hues on the sky above them. Tears rolled down their faces as they embraced each other. The guests raised their glasses, toasting to the magical future of Patrícia and João.

"The most unforgettable moment? The sunset itself, as guests watched the golden light wash over the celebration. With the song “Casa” from, Dama, playing in the background and everyone singing along, the couple shared a moment of pure magic, their love lighting up the evening."

Night Celebration

The contagious energy of the couple and their loved ones promised a long night of lively celebration. Patrícia and João stormed the dance floor, waving napkins in the air. Moments later, the cheering crowd swept them away.

The couple and their guests danced and sang together. Laughter, happy tears, killer dance moves, and even colored smoke made up for an unforgettable final act of the wedding day. João, with the crown on his head, and Patrícia, in her glowing veil and pink Texan boots, celebrated until sunrise.

"They envisioned a day surrounded by loved ones, wrapped in pure joy, cherishing every embrace, every laugh, and every moment of being exactly where they were always meant to be — together."

Advice from the couple:

Live every moment to the fullest. The day flies by, and every second is precious. Laugh, cry, dance, and hug your loved ones with all your heart.

Let go of perfection and embrace the magic of your love — it’s the one thing that truly matters.
