Bianca and Avery’s wedding in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, was a celebration of love, elegance, and unforgettable moments. The couple infused their special day with vibrant energy, surprise performances, and personal touches that reflected their unique style. From a breathtaking fireworks display to intimate first dances, every detail created a wedding that their guests will remember for a lifetime.

Location: San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico
Style: A modern wedding with pops of color
Time of planning: 1 year
Number of guests: 215
Setting: Backyard
Season: Winter

Bianca and Avery’s journey began in 2016 in Boston. They first met while waiting in a long line to get into a bar. What could have been a tedious wait turned into a lucky moment, giving them a chance to start a conversation and quickly realize they had a connection. It wasn’t long before they started dating, marking the beginning of their love story.

In October 2022, Avery planned the perfect proposal during a 5-mile hike in the Catskills, New York—one of their favorite places to escape to. Surrounded by the breathtaking fall foliage, Avery proposed on a cliff at the top of the mountain, creating a moment as stunning as the scenery around them.

Welcome Party

The wedding weekend kicked off with a warm and welcoming day where Bianca and Avery took the time to savor each other’s company, all while exploring the colorful streets of San Miguel de Allende. Their photographer, Regina Malo, beautifully captured the essence of their destination wedding in Mexico, from the lively pre-wedding festivities to the intimate and heartfelt ceremony and, finally, the joy-filled evening of endless dancing. Regina’s talent shone through as she documented every special moment and encapsulated the love shared between the couple and the vibrant spirit of Mexico. These photos became treasured memories for both the couple and their guests, perfectly preserving the magic of the weekend.

Callejoneada

The lovebirds decided to embrace the vibrant local culture by celebrating a traditional Callejoneada, a lively parade typically held in the streets of Mexican towns. This event is a spirited procession filled with music, dancing, and joyful celebration, allowing everyone to feel the pulse of the local culture. The sight of traditional elements, such as the mariachi band and the inclusion of a donkey adorned with colorful decorations, added a special touch to this unique cultural homage. The procession was a beautiful fusion of love and tradition, setting the tone for a wedding celebration that was as joyful as it was meaningful.

Wedding Day

Bridal Morning

Bianca’s wedding day began with a heartwarming brunch in her bridal suite, surrounded by her closest friends and family. The morning was filled with laughter as they shared funny stories and offered kind words, setting a joyful and intimate tone for the special day ahead.

Bianca’s wedding look was a perfect combination of elegance, drama, and sentimentality. She wore an Ines Di Santo dress with a sexy yet elegant vibe, featuring a low back, strapless floral design, and a long, flowing train complemented by gloves. For accessories, Bianca chose her late grandmother’s earrings, a deeply sentimental choice as she had a very close relationship with her. Her makeup was kept natural and minimal, allowing her to feel like herself and ensuring the photos remain timeless. Bianca opted for two hair looks throughout the day: starting with a chic messy bun and later letting her hair down during an outfit change, just in time for the fireworks show.

What made the morning even more special was that Bianca and Avery exchanged handwritten notes before seeing each other on their wedding day.

Groom's Getting Ready

Avery wore a classic black tuxedo by Hart Schaffner Marx, complete with cufflinks engraved with their initials and wedding date, 2.17.24, adding a personal touch to his timeless look.

Avery spent the morning with his closest friends and family, enjoying some beers and getting ready together. It was a fun and relaxed time, filled with laughter and excitement as they prepared for the big day ahead.

First Look

In the intimate setting of their first look, Bianca and Avery shared a tender moment that radiated pure joy. When Avery turned to see her, their faces lit up with genuine happiness, capturing a moment of connection that spoke to their deep bond. The setting, framed by elegant arches and artful décor, enhanced the romantic atmosphere of this unforgettable moment.

Before the ceremony, Bianca and Avery shared intimate moments that photographer Regina Malo beautifully captured. Her ability to create a comfortable environment allowed the couple’s love story to unfold naturally, resulting in photos that perfectly convey their deep connection and joy on their special day.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the courtyard of Instituto Allende, where the couple felt completely at ease, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The moment was made even more special as Bianca’s oldest brother officiated the ceremony, adding a deeply personal touch. In keeping with Jewish tradition, their parents joined them under the chuppah, creating a truly meaningful and intimate experience.

One of the most special and heartfelt moments of Bianca and Avery’s wedding was using Bianca’s late grandfather’s tallit (prayer shawl) as the covering for their Chuppah during the ceremony. This symbolic gesture added a deeply personal touch to the day and honored her grandfather’s memory. As they stood under the beautifully adorned Chuppah, surrounded by vibrant florals, Bianca and Avery exchanged their vows with emotion and joy.

Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour at Bianca and Avery’s wedding was lively and elegant. Guests mingled in the charming courtyard, surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements that added vibrant pops of color to the serene setting. Signature cocktails, including creative takes on classic drinks, were served, adding a personalized touch to the celebration. The sounds of live saxophone music filled the air, enhancing the joyful ambiance and setting the tone for the evening’s festivities.

After the ceremony, we felt so much love in the courtyard. We were excited for the rest of the night to unfold and to let loose with everyone, especially knowing all the surprises and special touches we had planned for our guests.

Reception Décor

The reception space was transformed into a vibrant and festive environment inspired by the energy and creativity of festivals like Burning Man. The decor combined elegance with a sense of playful celebration. Tables were set with modern, minimalist tableware, complemented by colorful, eclectic floral arrangements that brought a lively contrast to the natural wooden furniture. Above, the ceiling was adorned with lush greenery and pops of bright pink flowers intertwined with disco balls and hanging lights, adding a magical, almost surreal atmosphere.

The custom-designed dance floor reflected the couple’s unique style, combining bold patterns with vibrant colors. The violinist, fireworks, and bottles with sparklers all contributed to the festival-like vibe, making it an event full of life, love, and excitement.

Reception

As the newlyweds made their grand entrance into the reception, they were met with enthusiastic cheers from their guests. The celebration started with everyone joining in on a lively traditional Hora dance, setting the joyful tone for the evening. The festivities continued with heartfelt speeches, with Avery’s grandfather delivering one of the most memorable and hilarious moments of the night.

In a playful twist, the couple had secretly appointed a “table captain” at each table. After dinner, these captains were surprised with bottles of tequila and sparklers, along with personalized notes encouraging them to finish the bottle. To commemorate the occasion, each guest received a wedding favor—a shot glass adorned with an image of the San Miguel skyline and the couple’s wedding date—ensuring that the night was one to remember.

The First Dance

Bianca shared a touching first dance with her father, while Avery danced with his mother. Later, the newlyweds took to the floor together for a first dance to a unique blend of the song “Cinema,” which culminated in a spectacular confetti pop.

Party

The newlyweds hosted a breathtaking fireworks show during the party, with the Parroquia providing a stunning backdrop. They also planned a few surprise moments featuring a saxophonist and electric violinist performing an EDM set with the DJ. To add excitement, sparklers were handed out to everyone on the dancefloor, creating a magical atmosphere.

I look back on the day extremely warmly. It was all incredible and memorable from start to finish. Reciting my personal vows to Avery during the ceremony was extremely memorable. During the party, I really enjoyed getting on all my friends’ shoulders, dancing the night away to our favorite house music, and watching the fireworks with the Parroquia in the background.

Advice from the couple:

We worked hard on personalizing every detail of our wedding to reflect our style, preferences, and vibes. It paid off – while it was a large affair, we heard from our friends and family how intimate and personal it felt because of all the thoughtful touches we incorporated.
