Max and Kara met online in 2020, at the very beginning of the pandemic. Bonding over shared interests, a passion for the outdoors, and their lovely dog, Ralph, who came into the picture a few months after they started dating, their relationship blossomed.

The couple got engaged at Max’s family cottage in Michigan’s upper peninsula on July 4th. It was an unforgettable day filled with nature, love, and each other’s company. After a thrilling year of planning, their journey brought them to the heart of Detroit, where they had a beautiful wedding celebration.

For Max and Kara, choosing Detroit as their wedding location was a heartfelt nod to their love story. It was the place where they had their first dates and a midpoint for both of their families to attend. Situated along the Detroit River, the Waterview Loft provided the perfect setting for their modern and simple wedding theme.

The day began with the bride getting ready in a suite boasting the best views of Detroit. Every detail of the preparation was planned, down to the last detailfrom the bridesmaids’ peach-colored floral robes to the personalized rack showcasing the bride’s stunning dress. Even the youngest members of the bridal party got in on the fun, wearing adorable heart-shaped glasses, adding a playful touch to the morning.

Kara’s wedding dress by Morilee Madeline Gardner stole the show with its elegant A-line silhouette and embroidered floral appliqués. This airy wedding gown looked exactly like one that the princess would get from her fairy godmother. A plunging bodice and delicate straps added a touch of sophistication, while the open back added a hint of allure.

Her hair was elegantly styled in a glamorous, textured low bun updo, with loose strands delicately framing her face. Makeup by AmberLace&Co applied neutral tones, enhancing the beauty of her features. The subtle hues accentuated the depth of her captivating blue eyes, adding an enchanting charm to her bridal ensemble. She truly embodied the essence of a romantic, modern-day bride!

Max’s friends gathered in another suite to help him prepare for the big day amidst conversations and chilled drinks.

The groom looked dashing in his rich blue tuxedo. With a crisp white shirt and matching tie, he exuded timeless style and charm. His brown shoes added a touch of warmth, perfectly tying together his look.

Max and Kara’s first look was absolutely stunning, set against the backdrop of towering skyscrapers. Gifted photographer Lia Giannotti was entrusted with keeping this and further special moments of the day alive through her lens. She approaches wedding photography with a deep understanding that it’s not just about capturing moments; it’s about preserving memories, stories, and legacies. With the ability to sense the couple’s emotions, Lia ensured that every image she produced reflected the love shared between the bride and groom.

The couple added excitement to their big day, making moments at some of Detroit’s most iconic spots. “We wanted that urban, modern vibe since we were right in the city’s heart,” Kara shares.

Speaking of memorable moments, Lia Giannotti worked her magic capturing stunning shots of the couple at the Detroit Institute of Arts before the ceremony. The bright, airy space provided the perfect backdrop, accentuating every detail of the couple’s love story. With natural light flooding in, it felt like something straight out of a fairytale—Kara and Max glowing with happiness against the backdrop of Detroit’s vibrant energy.

The ceremony unfolded in the lower level of the Waterview Loft, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering majestic views of the Detroit River. Modern chic met urban elegance with greenery and delicate white roses. It’s like stepping into an oasis right in the heart of Detroit. And let’s not forget the city itself – its unique charm that can’t be reproduced elsewhere inspired the whole aesthetic of this perfect day, perfectly aligning with the couple’s vision for their wedding.

Young ladies and gentlemen in charming attires sprinkled the path down the aisle with petals. All eyes turned towards the entrance as the bride, accompanied by her father, descended the aisle towards the waiting groom. It was a moment of pure excitement and joy for everyone present as the couple took their first steps together towards a future filled with love and happiness.

After the lovebirds said their “I dos,” everyone headed over to the terrace for a delightful cocktail hour. Refreshing drinks were in hand, mouthwatering appetizers were on deck, and the most stunning river and city views stretched out before the dearest and nearest. While the guests were mingling and enjoying themselves, Lia Giannotti was on her photo mission. She managed to capture some seriously timeless moments during that magical golden hour on the river walk just after a brief rain shower had passed through.

The dinner took place upstairs in the dining room. The space was decked out in pure white with minimalistic decor, giving off luxurious vibes. And let us tell you, less was definitely more here. The simplicity just added to the admiration. The dining tables were adorned with delicate floating candles, setting the scene for a truly romantic evening.

Max and Kara kicked off the reception with a sweet touch, cutting into their wedding cake as cheers erupted from their loved ones. The joy was palpable as they shared this symbolic moment, marking the beginning of their journey together. As dinner commenced, guests raised their glasses for toasts, sharing heartfelt stories and laughter that filled the room with warmth and intimacy.

Just as the sun set and the city’s lights began to twinkle on the surface of the serene river, it felt like they were dancing in a masterpiece that came to life.

Max and Kara liked the venue and its fantastic view, so they decided to let its beauty shine without overwhelming it with decorations. They allowed the city landscape be their backdrop. With a bay door thrown open, a gentle breeze danced in, giving the space an airy, open-air vibe—perfect for dancing the night away.

Kara’s family, known for their love of dance, brought their infectious energy to the reception, igniting the dance floor with their joyful spirit. The bride, mom, and sisters stepped out with a surprise choreographed dance performance. As they moved in perfect sync, it was so natural for their guests to join in the fun.

Every guest, from the youngest to the oldest, spent the rest of the day on the dance floor with joy and abandon. The atmosphere was filled with sincerity and friendliness. Most importantly, the newlyweds looked around and felt deeply satisfied, knowing that their celebration had brought so much happiness to their loved ones.
