An Unconventional Yet Classic Wedding with a Pop of Color

Location: Adelaide, Australia
Setting: The Grand Foyer at The Grand Freemasons Lodge
Wedding season: Summer
The number of guests: 170
How long did the couple plan the event: 10 months
Wedding theme/style: Unconventional yet classic.

In the bustling heart of a bank, destiny wove its subtle threads, bringing together two souls, James and Claudia. They first crossed paths 12 years ago. As colleagues, they began to build the foundation of their friendship, cherishing the laughter-filled coffee breaks and the relationship that grew stronger with each passing day. Their bond endured through the seasons, weathering the storms of life, and after 6 years of unwavering friendship, they took that momentous step out of the “friend zone.” It felt like so easy and natural.

Three years flew by, solidifying their deep connection. James proposed, filling Claudia’s heart with joy as she accepted. Their love story was soaring, and it was time to celebrate their unique journey.

With small families and big dreams, they envisioned an intimate cocktail event that would deviate from the traditional winery weddings commonly seen in South Australia. They sought something unconventional yet classic for their wedding theme, a blend of modernity and timeless charm. Inspired by the grandeur of New York weddings held in old libraries and town halls, they envisioned black and white photos against a stunning flooring feature. So, they chose The Grand Freemasons Lodge as the venue for this unforgettable day.

On that exhilarating morning, Claudia positively glowed with happiness and love. In the tender embrace of her dear friends, she prepared herself for the enchanting journey of this blissful occasion.

With the expert guidance of Christina Tridente from Couture Love Madness, Claudia’s dream wedding dress came to life, perfectly complemented by the simplicity of the Bec & Bridge black bridesmaid dresses. To create a bold accent in her ensemble, Claudia chose blue shoes from Scanlan Theodore. Claudia’s dear friend, Carla Ielasi, graced them with her exceptional makeup artistry, while Tiana Gorman from Zo Hair worked her magic on their hair, making them feel like royalty on their special day.

James spent his morning in eager anticipation and joy, surrounded by his close friends and family. He didn’t hide his happiness, knowing that he would see his beloved in just a few moments. James opted for a classic look, donning a tuxedo and a bow tie. The standout element of his attire was a custom-made emerald green velvet blazer from Ignition, adding a touch of unique sophistication to his ensemble.

Supporting the idea of sustainability, Claudia’s blue shoes and James’ velvet blazer are both investments, as they plan to keep and use them again for other events! It also met the lovebirds’ desire to tie in classic tailoring but with a pop of color.

Then came one of the most touching moments as Claudia and James opened envelopes containing letters of love they had written to each other.

Their choice of flowers from Out In The Paddock undeniably stole the spotlight on their special day. Exclusively featuring white flowers and lush greenery, they elegantly cascaded down the marble staircase, creating a breathtaking backdrop for the dance floor that enchanted guests late into the evening.

The ceremony unfolded amidst an aura of pure happiness and profound love. With a tender heart, Claudia’s father led her to the spot where James stood, his eyes brimming with affection and anticipation. In a picturesque moment, they exchanged rings, symbolizing their bond, and recited vows of everlasting devotion that echoed through the hearts of all who bore witness to their love story.

Talented photographer Dean Snushall has brilliantly captured the essence of the entire wedding – its aesthetics, emotions, love, and friendship. Dean’s artistry is dedicated to creating photographs that deeply resonate with the heart. His experience and keen sense of beauty have immortalized every precious moment, allowing Claudia and James to cherish and relive this wonderful day in their memories.

An essential aspect for Claudia and James was the wedding dinner. They envisioned it as a cocktail event. Being food enthusiasts, they selected the finest cocktails and appetizers to ensure that all their guests were delightfully satisfied. The reception venue itself was adorned with summery arrangements, preserving the sensation of summer’s fresh vibrancy.

A touching surprise awaited James’s family at the illuminated bar: a personalized bar sign honoring his father. This gesture warmed their hearts and added a meaningful touch to their celebration.

The wedding cake, too, was crafted in harmony with the wedding theme. It featured a classic form adorned with delicate and ethereal decorations, embodying the essence of their special day.

Then came the moment when James took his beloved by the hand, leading her to the center of the dance floor, where they swayed to the music, expressing their love, tender admiration, and affection through the art of dance.

The evening was filled with music the laughter of guests, and the very air seemed saturated with joy and jubilation. Ultimately, their wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love but a testament to the beauty of taking chances and following their hearts. It’s a day eternally etched in their memories as the start of their happily ever after.
