An Intimate Wedding Weekend in the Colorado Mountains

Featured Members

Chelsy and Evan’s wedding was an intimate celebration shaped by nature, family, and a shared love for the outdoors. Surrounded by rivers, forests, and sweeping views of Aspen, Colorado, the couple created a day that felt peaceful, personal, and deeply connected to the landscape. With only their closest family present, the weekend unfolded slowly and meaningfully, from quiet mornings at the ranch to a heartfelt outdoor ceremony beneath blossoming aspen trees. While photographer Jacie Marguerite beautifully captured the entire story of the celebration.

Location: Aspen, CO, US
Style: Classic, Intimate, Natural
Time of planning: 8 months
Number of guests: 25
Setting: Dunbar Ranch
Season: Spring

Chelsy and Evan first met through Chelsy’s best friend, who also happens to be Evan’s cousin. Although they stayed friends for several years, they always lived on opposite sides of the country, and sometimes even farther apart, from London to Los Angeles and later from Dallas to LA. Eventually, after months of long phone conversations, Evan invited Chelsy to a show in Los Angeles, and that moment changed everything.

Bride's Morning & Fashion

Chelsy and Evan envisioned an intimate celebration surrounded by their closest family, and the days leading up to the wedding became just as meaningful as the ceremony itself. “Going on a hike and getting ready for the ceremony directly next to the river was a special part of the wedding day. The time we got to spend with our families over the weekend was incredibly special, and waking up to Field to Fork’s gourmet breakfasts every day was one of everyone’s favorite moments,” shared Chelsy.

For the wedding, Chelsy chose a timeless bridal look. She wore a gown by Flora Bridal, paired with Manolo Blahnik shoes and a delicate veil by Sara Gabriel Veils. Her jewelry held deep sentimental value: a diamond necklace that belonged to her grandmother and earrings she had gifted. Jen Lagers created hair and makeup, keeping the look elegant and natural, while a bouquet of lilies of the valley from Aspen Branch Floral completed the refined, classic aesthetic.

One of the most emotional moments of the morning was Chelsy’s first look with her father. It was a deeply special and heartfelt moment, filled with warmth and quiet emotion as they shared a few minutes together before the ceremony.

Groom's Fashion

For the wedding, Evan chose a classic and refined look. He wore a Brooks Brothers tuxedo with a Ralph Lauren bow tie, completing the timeless look with a Junghans watch. His boutonniere added a subtle natural touch that tied beautifully with the floral design of the day.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place outdoors, facing the Continental Divide and surrounded by blossoming aspen trees. The couple wanted the setting to honor the beauty of the outdoors, a place they deeply love, while also evoking the atmosphere of a classic English chapel. Through thoughtful floral design and a selection of white roses, Aspen Branch Floral helped bring that vision to life.

"The cherry on top was being married by Evan’s uncle, who was also my childhood pastor, and walking down the aisle to Coldplay’s “Green Eyes” in bluegrass style."

“We wanted the ceremony to feel connected to nature but still carry the elegance and romance of a traditional chapel,” they shared. In the end, the moment exceeded all expectations, something they credit to their incredible vendors, including Aspen Event Solutions, and the stunning weather. “Our guests kept telling us it was the most epic ceremony they had ever been to.”

Inspiration & Photography

The couple envisioned a celebration that felt intimate, relaxed, and deeply connected to nature. Both Chelsy and Evan share a love for the mountains, so choosing a setting by the river surrounded by peaks allowed the day to feel calm, natural, and peaceful. They also selected a palette of greens and whites to harmonize with the landscape, hoping the colors would blend effortlessly with the surrounding scenery and reflect the beauty of the place they love.

One of the most memorable moments for the couple was the quiet time they spent together between the ceremony and reception while taking photos. It gave them a chance to pause, breathe, and truly take in the day. The soft light during that moment made everything feel even more magical, and those emotions were beautifully captured by their photographer, Jacie Marguerite. “I think our photos from that time really reflect exactly how we felt in the moment,” they shared.

Reception Design

The reception took place outdoors on the “Field of Dreams,” where the open landscape created a relaxed and intimate atmosphere for dinner and celebration. A bluegrass band provided the music, adding warmth and authenticity to the evening and reflecting the meaningful role that bluegrass has played in the couple’s lives. With such an intimate wedding, the presence of their vendors felt especially personal. In the days leading up to the celebration and throughout the wedding day itself, the team became part of the experience, making the entire event feel even more memorable and close-knit.

Reception

Some of the most memorable moments of the reception were the heartfelt toasts shared by family and close friends. The long reception table was beautifully adorned with cascading flowers, creating a romantic and elegant setting for the evening.

Another highlight was the vintage-inspired cake, which the couple described as the most delicious they had ever tasted, making the sweet finale of the celebration even more special.

Advice from the couple:

• The best advice I received was that hiring a planner was the best planning decision that we could make. I can confirm that this was true, and I would recommend that advice again to anyone 10 times over. I never felt stressed during planning or during the wedding day, and I attribute that to our planning team and vendors.
