An Intimate Wedding in Oregon With DIY Touches

Featured Members:

How long did the couple plan the event: 2 months
Amount of guests: 30
Wedding theme/style: Elevated DIY, modern, intentional, Persian.

Danny and Marisa met when they were working together at a restaurant. They had both worked there for a while but had different schedules. One day their paths crossed when Danny came in early to eat a salad before his shift. Marisa commented on how good the salad looked, and he invited her to share it with him. And the rest is history, as they say.

Look at how Casi Yost captured their love and bright emotions.

From Marisa: “We got engaged right before the pandemic. I had planned a few different weddings and then decided to put planning on hold for a while. So by the time I was ready to pick up planning again, I picked a date just two months away.”

The bridal dress was by Shona Joy. Marisa wanted something unfussy and loved that this dress was separated so she could wear the top on their anniversary.

“Our venue has Persian-style vibes, so I took that as the base for all other elements. I wanted everything to feel minimal, thoughtful, and artful.”

Marisa is a graphic designer, so she created the invitations, signage, and menus for their event. On the back of each menu, the couple wrote a personalized letter to each guest thanking them for coming and highlighting their favorite memories with them. “It was a heartwarming moment to see everyone read their letters. And it was such a nice exercise to do before the wedding and really created a feeling of gratitude and intention for each person being there.”

The bride wanted something uncomplicated and minimal that included all their favorite people at a fun dinner party with great food.

“We combined our passion for cocktails and design by developing our own bottled cocktails. We created a signature drink for each of us and our dog, Kenji. Danny crafted the cocktail recipes while I designed the labels and bottled them. We had fun spending a late night together working on the cocktails because, you know, we had to make sure they would be good for our guests.”

Danny’s family has a tradition of writing poems for each other during special events and holidays, such as birthdays and Mother’s Day. So the couple decided to continue this tradition on their wedding day. Instead of giving speeches, the sweethearts invited anyone to share a poem they had written. This was one of Marisa’s favorite moments of the day, and all guests loved the poems.

We adore Casi Yost uses film and Polaroid images to merge documentary story-telling with an editorial edge creating heirlooms for the couple.
