A summer celebration at The Corson Building brought together Sydney and Nick’s love for modern design, intimate gatherings, and exquisite food. Their wedding day, expertly crafted by Amri & Co, transformed the historic Seattle restaurant into an ethereal garden party where every detail told a part of their love story. The couple created a day that felt both sophisticated and deeply personal, weaving together their passion for food, design, and meaningful moments.
Location: Seattle, Washington, USA
Style: Ethereal, intimate, modern
Time of planning: 10 months
Number of guests: 45
Setting: Restaurant
Season: Summer
Sydney and Nick’s modern love story began on Bumble in 2020 while both were studying at different colleges in Utah. Their first date combined casual fun at Top Golf with watching “Dead Poets Society,” creating the perfect blend of playfulness and connection that would define their relationship. Despite starting their journey in Utah, their love would take them to Seattle, where Nick’s software engineering career led them to spend an unforgettable summer together.
The couple’s adventure continued when they moved to the Bay Area, where Sydney pursued her Master’s in Global Health at UC San Francisco. But it was during a trip to Greece in September 2022 that their story reached a new chapter. Nick chose a magical sunrise in Santorini to propose, making the moment even more special as they walked alone through one of the most stunning parts of the island at dawn.
Location & Planning
When planning their wedding, Sydney and Nick knew exactly what they wanted: an intimate celebration that reflected their style. Working with Amri & Co, they created a vision centered around neutral colors, lots of linen, and abundant greenery. The couple’s love for modern, cozy aesthetics guided every decision, from venue to minor details.
"We wanted to choose vendors we felt had a similar personal style."

Bridal Look
Sydney’s bridal journey led her to the perfect “modern with a twist” dress—the Caterina gown, designed by Sarah Seven and discovered at Frankie Jane Boutique. For the ceremony, the bride paired it with comfortable white pointed flats.
The bride’s attention to detail extended to every accessory, from delicate pearl drop earrings to a fine gold chain necklace that caught the light with subtle elegance. For her signature scent, she chose Santa Maria Novella‘s Vaniglia for its nuanced vanilla notes, creating a signature scent for her special day.
"I was so nervous before the ceremony but was never ever nervous about getting married. Getting ready with my mom, sister, and the rest of my bridal party really helped settle the jitters."

Ceremony
The intimate ceremony unfolded in the venue’s charming courtyard, where a majestic fig tree provided a natural altar. Brier & Ivy created stunning floral arrangements on pedestals, drawing inspiration from Sylvia Plath’s poem “Fig Tree” and perfectly complementing the natural setting. Puget Sound Strings set the perfect emotional tone with their rendition of “Angels” by The XX as the bride made her entrance, creating an unforgettable moment beneath the majestic tree.
Working in perfect harmony, Casi Yost Photography and videographer Margaret Wroblewski documented the ceremony with artful discretion. Casi’s blend of digital and film photography captured sweeping shots of the majestic fig tree altar and intimate close-ups of emotional moments.
The ceremony was deeply personal, with their friend Madi stepping in as officiant at the last minute when the original officiant faced a medical emergency. “The second Nick and I locked eyes, he lost it,” Sydney remembered. “We had only cried a few times in front of one another since neither of us was a big crier, so the moment’s intensity was palpable.” Even a passing plane overhead couldn’t break the moment’s magic as guests quietly waited for it to pass before continuing with the heartfelt exchange of vows.
"After we walked back down the aisle together, we went off to the side by the entryway fountain. We just gave each other the biggest hug and kiss and let the moment sink in. I wiped tears from his face, and we just kept sharing words of love."

Cocktail Hour
The celebration flowed seamlessly into cocktail hour, during which the restaurant’s renowned chefs served exquisite snacks while the band provided the perfect musical backdrop. Guests discovered thoughtful details at every turn, from honey jar favors by Woodring Northwest to a unique guestbook by After the Tone, where they could leave voicemail messages for the couple.
Decor & Setting
Brier & Ivy created organic floral arrangements that enhanced rather than overwhelmed the venue’s inherent charm. The refined simplicity continued through the table settings, where BBJ La Tavola provided crisp, ivory linens that perfectly balanced the rustic brick walls. Their carefully chosen fabrics added a layer of sophistication while maintaining an intimate atmosphere.
Inside were long tables draped in light linens for guests to linger over dinner; each place was thoughtfully arranged with organic white plates and gleaming gold flatware from Hosted Modern. Candlelight cast a warm glow, creating an atmosphere that felt both elevated and welcoming.
One of the most special touches was the escort card display, where each guest found an envelope containing not just their table assignment but personal letters from both Nick and Sydney expressing their gratitude and love. The couple worked with Paper Paper Co to create these meaningful keepsakes, which guests particularly treasured.
Reception
The intimate dinner unfolded as a celebration of seasonal flavors and artistic touches. The Corson Building crafted a menu that perfectly balanced sophistication with comfort: delicate plates featuring locally sourced ingredients, each course thoughtfully paired with regional wines.
The evening’s most romantic moment arrived as Puget Sound Strings played their first notes in the brick-walled courtyard. They shared whispered words and soft laughter with every step, creating a world all their own. It wasn’t about the dance or the setting, but the quiet, deep connection they shared in that perfect moment—just the two of them, wrapped in love.
Adding a unique artistic element to the evening, artist Trivvi Draws moved gracefully between tables, creating live illustrations that captured guests in their finest attire. These personalized sketches became cherished keepsakes while also providing an entertaining experience as guests watched their portraits come to life. As for the bride’s fashion, Sydney changed into an elegant Reformation slip dress for the reception, accessorizing with a Cult Gaia purse as her “something blue” and a pearl arm band.
In a quiet corner of the courtyard, the couple shared an intimate moment with their wedding cake from Alewa Bakeshop. A minimalistic white cake adorned with fresh blooms from Brier & Ivy stood elegantly on a crisp linen-covered table, perfectly matching the elegance of their day.
Moments Alone
Taking full advantage of Seattle’s golden hour, Casi Yost Photography led the couple on an artistic journey through the city streets. Her blend of digital and film photography captured the newlyweds against unexpected urban backdrops—from sun-drenched tennis courts to industrial concrete pillars—creating editorial-worthy portraits that felt authentically them. The resulting images balanced artistic composition with genuine emotion as the couple strolled, laughed, and found quiet moments together away from the celebration.
These stolen moments allowed them to pause and take in the significance of their day. Against chain-link fences and city walls, the bride’s minimalist silk gown and the groom’s classic tuxedo created a striking contrast that embodied their modern, sophisticated approach to their intimate celebration.
The bride’s third look, a spontaneous addition found at Van de Vort just a week before the wedding, featured a mini dress with a back bow that echoed the structure of her ceremony gown. Instead of the expected heels, she paired the dress with a pair of sleek white Nike sneakers—an unexpected yet undeniably stylish choice that added a touch of fun and comfort to the ensemble.
"We cannot thank Casi enough for all of the beautiful memories we now have."

Evening Celebration
The evening unfolded with natural ease, transitioning smoothly from the formalities of the celebration to a more relaxed, intimate atmosphere at a nearby tavern. The shift from elegance to ease felt seamless, leaving everyone with a sense of contentment—satisfied by both the grand celebration and the simple joys of good company. The laughter, the clack of pool balls, and the glow of friendship made for a fitting end to a night that would be remembered for its warmth and the deepening of bonds among friends.
Advice from the couple:
• Stay true to your style—your wedding should reflect everything you love about the world and each other.
• Focus on elements that feel authentic to you as a couple—from decor to music to menu choices, each detail should tell your story.
• Remember it’s your day—make decisions based on what brings you both joy, not what others expect.
